Yes!!!! The Sears catalog!! My dad used to call it the ‘Wish Book’! Sandra I am enjoying your yarns from your childhood SO MUCH! Please keep them coming!! 🙋♀️😫👍👏👏👏🥰‼️
Mother, mother there’s a man at the well!!!!! Do you recall that game? Someone was several yards away saying he was sharpening his knife to kill “you.” We did 😮this three times always screaming while running to mother. She then would say “nonsense “ and go to the well with us. The “killer” and the killer became the mother. would then start chasing to tag one of us. You get the idea, maybe. 🙋♀️☕️❤️🙏🇺🇸
Lol great story of McGuire sisters. I would sit at the window sill. We did not have AC. So the window was always open. The breeze was so wonderful to feel the breeze on my face. I would start singing and the window sill became my piano. I loved playing that. Lol
Hi Sandra! Enjoyed hearing your memories of the 1960’s. I remember playing “Mother May I” and I remember looking through the Sears Roebuck Catalog too. You brought back memories of a kinder laid back time. Love and Kindness, Teresa
Red Rover, red rover send Sandy right over, that was a big game! You had a line of people on each side holding hands, when they called your name you ran as fast as you could and had to break through where they were holding hands. If you didn't break through you had to go back to where you started from.
I was hysterical laughing with you over the red lips. I had a bff. And I could see her doing that to be and then laugh like crazy!! She was such a good friend 50+ years and she passed away 12 years ago. I still miss her and her humor!!❤❤❤
Enjoy all your stories...the duck story quacked me up! 😆🤣 LOL. I remember the mother may I game, a bunch of kids played that in our front yard. I can remember the mothers coming to the doors at dinner time, calling all the kids in to eat dinner. Lots of good memories! My memories were mostly from the 60's, but can remember a few things from the late 50's. Those were such good times! I hope you keep these throw back stories going. Such good fun! 😊 ❤❤❤
I enjoyed this Sandra big red lips 👄 lol lol lol i enjoyed the duck story as well lol lol laughed so much over those red lips 👄 thanks for sharing 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹 💐
I love this video series you’re doing. When you get to our age, nobody is interested in our ‘when I was young’ stories. But WE are very interested!! These stories bring up memories that feel like they happened yesterday, even though they happened 60+ years ago. Thank you for resurrecting these memories for all of us. 🥰
I LOVE these videos about your childhood. I could listen to you tell your stories all day. Please, don't be concerned about the length of the videos; the longer the better. 😊
Such great memories. We also played “ Red Rover “ . My sister and I had twin beds next to each other about two foot apart and we would lay there and make up stories and tell each other . I lived in fantasy land my whole childhood. Thanks for sharing your stories with us . ❤❤❤
I enjoyed hearing these childhood memories. I remember playing "Mother, May I?" and the Sears Christmas catalog (The Wish Book) and Penneys Christmas Catalogs too. Your big red lips story made me laugh. 😂
Sears and Montgomery Ward catalogs. Yes so exciting and my folks always ordered most of our Christmas from the catalogs. Also in early Fall the car companies sent pictures of the new models for the new year. Every year the cars looked different and we can alway identify a car by the year. Love the stories, Sandra.😍
Yes gypsy's burn the belongings of someone who died as a sign of respect and to help them pass over.. Love these memories and I remember you talking about this aunt long ago...So many things you have mentioned I had the same memories from my childhood yes from Sears and I remember those so well
I’m 71 and remember My friends and I played Red Rover, softball, tennis, badminton, basketball , jump rope, chase, Mother May I, paper dolls, dolls, trucks, and many other games. My parents wouldn’t let me stay overnight with certain friends. I later found out it was because they drank alcohol. As I’ve traveled the world, I’ve learned nudity is more of a big deal in the USA. In the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany,Norway,Sweden, Finland and Denmark nudity and certain “pornographic” words are part of everyday language.
Thanks for the sweet memories of simpler times ~ I remember the games you mentioned from my childhood. I remember walking to our neighborhood grocery store with my friends and buying penny candy ~ those were the days! Another fun memory was every summer afternoon my friends and I would wait for the ice cream man to drive into our neighborhood ~ what a thrill~ we also had a bakery truck that would come through the neighborhood and sell donuts, cookies, etc and my mom always bought me a glazed donut or a brownie. Summers were spent outdoors from morning till evening in the summertime. We lived in the Los Angeles area and we always had lots of sunshine, of course ~ we would run through the sprinklers or play in our huge plastic swimming pools.
Depression is a sad thing. Ive lived with it since I was 16 when my Mom became concerned when Id cry my heart out to her. But I’ve done good with having a long career with a large electric utility. I learned that from my Mom. Thank goodness for the studies done on mental health and there’s good help out there for ones like me. It’s under control and it’s all due to my childhood being so messed up. Loved your stories!!!!
Sandra, how in the world do u remember these many fascinating stories? Some were decidedly cute and funny, while others were cringy and sad. That is our lives. The good, the bad, and the ugly. The stencil lips. 💋😂 I envisioned two little girls with puffer fish lips 🐡 lol! Little Diane got upset. She really had a hard life with two alcoholic parents who fought a lot. Your one aunt who married a dark gypsy. I wonder what line of work they were in. Reminded me of the The Beverly Hillbillies, living large but with their ways intact. I have always been enthralled by the personal story. Many of my childhood memories have faded, but I do remember at around the age of 7 or 8 getting spanked by my dad for bringing a new doll to school. My mom had sent the doll from the States to our country. The baby doll 'drank' a bottle and 'peed'. It also spoke a few words. In any event, thank u4 sharing them with ur grandkids and us here in ur channel ❤
Yay! I mentioned playing " Mother May I? These games played as a young girl also came to mind. Anyone remember SPUD? It is played with a ball and each player has a secret number. How about 7up? Also with a ball and different activities with it going down from the number 7. Did your Mama pin a little girls hanky to your garment like where a corsage would go? Haha yes, the catalog!! So much more to reminisce about! Love this type of content. Fun! The woman with the accent sounds Polish. I'd know that accent anywhere! 😉 Niech was Bóg błogosławi zawsze ( May God bless you always)
❤Love your stories Sandy...I made cut out girls from comic books, Betty and Veronica from the Archie comic books and glue them on cut-out cardboard and trace their bodies on paper and color dresses with tabs to hook on the doll...loved it❤Praise the Lord Jesus ❤
My Children’s grandfather was friends with a gypsy family. One time one of them died. We all went to show respect. Before we left our house my father in law told us gypsies mourn birth and celebrate death so this wound be a party. Boy was it ever… laughter, drinking and belly dancing was happening in every room of their house. Since then I’ve viewed death in a different light. The Bible mentions this as well.
The Bible says the day of our death is better than the day of our birth. Eccl 7 The implication of Solomon's thought under inspiration is that it reflects the way it should be, and those who believe God's Word can take steps to ensure the conclusion of our lives will be that way. That better conclusion to life largely depends on the choices made in life.
