I remember when the Garth/Gaines album came out. People were soooooo confused. I honestly really loved it. Good escape for a kid who was only allowed to listen to christian or country... I found the loophole. This is a fantastic cover and absolutely wonderful in it's own right. :)

This was my wedding song in 2001. The original sang by Garth Brooks as Chris Gaines. When people would ask “What song are you walking down the aisle to?” I would say, oh it’s a Garth Brooks’ song. I got crazy looks. When they heard it, the reactions were totally different! I loved the words and the whole song being sang in a falsetto made it so soft and beautiful. You did it justice. Well done without overdoing. Classy and tasteful. 🥰💪🏾🙏🏾

As a country fan, I view this as nothing short of a beautiful show of respect respect towards perhaps the biggest star the genre has ever produced. While Chris Gaines wasn’t well received, especially by die hard fans of country, its speaks volumes that Donald is able to see that there are legitimately great works within that particular experiment. Bravo Mr. Glover.

I will forever adore Garth Brooks for this Chris Gaines album. This song is a masterpiece and I have a new found respect for Gambino for covering it knowing it’s highly criticized and shunned upon. That’s my kind of artist ❤
