My Mother had a huge Bridal Bush that she pruned a “cave” in for us. Wonderful memories of going under and shaking for petal confetti! Ethereal!

Absolutely the most wonderful children's garden I have ever seen! Way to go, Kaitlin! I also loved the testimony of how gardening and photography can help reduce anxiety and depression. My garden is my sanctuary - a place for peace.

No parks in my little town in Southern Ohio. But, we had a creek and a railroad track, and my parents had the most beautiful yard full of flowers, vegetables, giant trees and a fish pond...paradise...I was truly blessed.

Well I am 71 and am old enough to remember we had a place in Oakland California at Lake Merritt called Fairyland. It was the best. I just looked it up and its still there. I was born in 1950 the year it opened. We always went when we were little.... and mom would bring a real picnic in a real picnic basket. We would spend the day there and go down to the waters edge . It says the cost was between 9 and 14 cents when it opened in 1950. Its now $15.00 a person. What memories this brought back!

I love this park. There needs to be one in every city, town and village. My grandmother had a huge garden with ponds, arbors covered with grapes, and trees to climb. That was as close as came, AND she would love this.

How wonderful! Linda, your spirit and ability to make friends no matter where you are, gives me chills! Kaitlyn’s expertise is apparent, here. I loved this, especially as a retired SLP, because I can picture the kids experiencing all of the fun, sensory plants and places in this garden. What amazing talking points for our communicatively handicapped kids! Thank you for sharing this beautiful garden.

My Grandfather in Arkansas had a big veggie garden that fed his family, neighbors and those who visited from church. His tomatoes, okra, and corn on cob were my favorite as a child and young adult. Plus, my Grandmother canned awesome sweet pickles from his cucumbers. Loving memories from my childhood. ❤️😊

Zone 6a Here is my story of a plant that was almost destroyed by weather. There is a row of old-fashioned spiraea bushes (Spiraea vanhouttei) along the front of my 90-year old house. I believe they are original to the house. After an ice storm years ago the branches were bent over and lying on the ground. The bushes were about 5 feet tall. I chopped them down to about 1 foot. They came back and are magnificent. I love how in the spring the branches arch over, when they are loaded with white flowers. I keep them no taller than 4 feet, plus I learned how to hand prune them so they don't get top heavy.

I didn't have a magical place like that when I was a kid. I grew up in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Back in the 70s, we did have a "maze" of hedges under the London Bridge that I thought was quite magical and exciting! Unfortunately, they took those hedges out in the early 80s. Later, when I moved to New York as a teenager, I really loved when my mother and I would go to Old Westbury Gardens where they had a child's beautiful cottage and surrounding children's garden. So beautiful!

As a child I lived in Quebec city, Quebec, Canada. The next street over to our apartment had an amazing small garden/ park...as a child I would go there with my neighborhood friends and we would play for hours in and around the trees and bushes. And there was even a huge statue which we also played on and around it. Loved to watch this vlog. I love projects like this! Such a lovely children's garden!

Hi Linda and Stewart I did not realize there was a part 2. More amazing plants in this garden ! Kaitlin sounds like a real hands on worker in this garden. What a hand full for her! I love my amsonia. I did not know it got that big. Can’t wait for it to get that big so I can stop weeding!!! That garden is a true life saver as Wendy told you! Nice show!

As a child, I was lucky ...my school was next to the forrest ( I often stared more outside the window than looking to the teacher) a big forrest in Thuringia .( called the green heart of Germany) there was also a school vegetable garden ...I spend a lot of time there ... have happy memories of that time. When we moved to Belgium, I missed my forrest and the vegetable garden very much. Nowadays the forrest in Thuringia suffers from years of drought ...they have to replant drought tolerant trees ... I was a lucky child being surrounded by nature and wildlife...unforgettable. kind regards, Marcus

Magical tour and beautiful gardens!✨ We live in Amarillo. My husband and I visited Myriad Gardens about 10 yrs ago when the conservatory was being renovated. Loved it! I work in music with families, their small children and children with disabilities. Our summer theme is “Bugs, Bees & Butterflies.” I’ll definitely send some kiddos and their caregivers to visit you!

Another lovely video, Linda. Such an amazing place. We have a lovely state park here in Rhode Island. My mom and my Nana used to take me there often in the summer. We would bring a picnic lunch and spend the day. It is very large and must be driven through. There are many different gardens….my favorite is the Japanese garden. There is a very large and beautiful merry-go-round with large beautiful horses and other animals as well as seats. One of my fondest memories is riding and trying to grab the gold ring….you got a free ride if you got it…..and the operator would always make sure it was there for you. There was also a small train ride and pony rides. There was a small charge for the rides. There are row boats and paddle boats also, but being man made ponds the water is that awful brown green…..not very appealing. There is a zoo which has greatly improved over the years (and a petting zoo now), a museum, a building where outdoor concerts are held, and and area with seals that honk and flap around. When I was a child in the 1950’s the elephant was in a building and we would buy a small bag of peanuts and feed Alice. She was a magnificent creature (didn’t smell too good in there). Now the elephants are outside roaming about in an enclosure and everything is much more humane. There was a stable where you could rent horses and go riding at that time, but I don’t think that’s there anymore. It is in the city and society has changed so much. Many people just don’t respect the property as they did when I was growing up. There wasn’t litter and vandalism as there is now. It’s a shame you didn’t have such a place when you were growing up. Glad you can go and enjoy it now. It’s a wonderful place you have there. It was so nice of you to speak with Wendy, and good of her to let you share her conversation with us. 😊💖🦋🕊

Well, I was THRILLED to see that I did not have to wait till tomorrow to catch the second part of this wonderful garden tour!! I am beyond IMPRESSED! How she maintains all of these beautiful gardens is amazing! What a great job!! And like I said in the comments after the first part, my daughter will LOVE this idea and I can see her gathering the troops to make this happen in our area! To answer your question of the day... I do not remember having anything like this to go to and enjoy as a child. BRAVO, to Oklahoma City for such a lovely place, not just for children, but adults too! We NEED more gardens in our world to soothe our SOULS! Wonderful, WONDERFUL, watch! As always, thank you Linda and Stewart, and much love and blessings!

I have an old Russian Sage in my garden and my grandkids loves the smell of it. I love these videos, giving me so many ideas for the future in my gardens. Also, wishing our area would create something like this. Thank you for visiting that area and sharing this with us all. And, yes I believe that would be the best job ever

QOTD... Our neighbor had a old (very old , model T old) car collection , that was over grown with everything , which most refered to as a junk yard... To me it was a magical wonderland ... He allowed me to play in it as long as I was careful . It was then I dreamed of someday creating play spaces for "my children " that was safe for adventure . What a treasure of a space you all have there! Thank you so much for so much inspiration !

This was a very nice visit. Beautiful place. I enjoyed seeing the perennials massed as they were. Mountain mint is one I have been meaning to get. The local state park has a nice stand of it, and it was covered in pollinators.

Not exactly as magical a place, but we had Bayne Park we could walk to (it also had a Victorian home that the town saved and made into our library - you can Google it ), the Pittsburgh Zoo (it was less developed then and therefore more green space), and we lived next to woods. We were ALWAYS outside in summer - the other 3 seasons as well, but when it was freezing, we were allowed to come in periodically and warm up! We had no screens...we had one B&W TV with 3 channels + PBS and no remote...it was idyllic. Wendy - good luck to you and keep gardening and doing your photography. Giving back does wonders, too!! A wonderful tour and a wonderful manager! Next book Linda...next book...
