The incredible Chilena Guava is an evergreen edible fruit bush/tree. A must-have for every keen fruit-loving gardener. In this video, I will show you it in full fruit and a taste test. Also, did you know it was Queen Victoria's favorite?

Hi, I'm so pleased. It has the most amazing taste. Some say when you eat the fruit different people taste different flavours. For me, I taste strawberry bubblegum. One of my favourite fruits . Let me know what you experience:)

@@seagullgardening I also do not measure PH. I just add pine bark and sour peat a little. Well, I see that the plant does not like something, so I am trying to understand Perhaps the problem is in the acidity. Sorry for the mistakes, my English is not very good😔
@seagullgardening
@seagullgardening Месяц назад
@@user-vj4rm9zv7y your typing is great. Adding pine will make the plant more acidic. I think it likes fairly neutral pH. This link will help you. www.rhs.org.uk/plants/18573/ugni-molinae/details

Your plant looks amazing , looks so healthy too. What do you feed them? If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy them from?
@seagullgardening
@seagullgardening Год назад
Hi thanks, I give them organic liquid feed with seaweed and mulch them with wood chips to keep moisture in. I try and top dress to each year with new compost and make sure they are ok in container. They are quite sensitive to wind and frost so keep am eye on that. They can from Essex in UK. Where are you based?
@darthmaulx
@darthmaulx Год назад
Hi, Those are some great tips. Thanks a lot. I'm from Epsom Surrey. Just got a couple of plans online. Think they are around 3 years old. Doesn't look too healthy at the moment, probably because there were in 2L pots. I put them in 30L containers and added some sulphur to the potting mixture as I heard they need a slightly acidic soil. Do you use any specific organic liquid Brand?
@seagullgardening
@seagullgardening Год назад
@@darthmaulx Any time, as you are in UK here's a good system. If you type RHS plant finder into Google on their site you can find any plant you want and the RHS lists the location and garden centre/nursery that sells them. Sulphar is good it's a Macro nutrient. I tend you use organic seaweed with balanced NPK. Where possible try and use organic. My Auntie bought these for me from Hyde Hall in Essex. Great you enjoy plants :)
@darthmaulx
@darthmaulx Год назад
Thanks. I've used RHS in the past , but never noticed the suppliers before :). Thanks that's really helpful . You are right, it's best to use organic where possible. I'll take you recommendation. Thanks again.

How do you take care of your chilean guava in winter?
@seagullgardening
@seagullgardening Год назад
That's a great question, I wrap the base of the container in hessian cloth to keep the roots warm. What I have found is the Chilean Guava is very wind sensitive and can be damaged very easily if cold winds hit them. So, if you can fleece it and move to a protected area within your garden that will be great. If the plant is in the ground it will need a good lot of wood chips around the base of the plant to keep the roots warm and protected and It will do best against a fence or wall so not to be blown around.
