Trincomalee also known as Gokarna in ancient time! When Cholas invaded Trincomalee they brought Kannada Soldiers and settled here! They found the similarities between Gokarna and Trincomalee and named this place Gokarna! Similar to Shiva in seated position in Murdeshewar also in exist Trincomalee. Temple in Trincomalee was actually built by Pallavas in 6th century AD! Kannada generals brought by Kalingha Magha stationed in Trincomalee too! Historical connection between Trincomalee and South India especially Gokarna is strong 💪
