"To Instruct and Delight: a Case for Realist Literature" Multiple prize winning author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie speaks on Connecting Cultures at 2012 Commonwealth Lecture, organised by the Commonwealth Foundation.
Never met a speaker so real and i can relate to what she is talking about, how she says it ....she talks like a big sister ,a mother and a fierce writer. The world is blessed to hear and read your books.such an inspiration.
A beautiful woman indeed. The luscious directness of her words is simply inspiring. I am intrigued as well as very fortunate to be a part of a generation that can experience Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. More grease
Thank you Chimamanda Adichie for this inspiring lecture. You are not only an African, you are also a global citizen. I couldn't be more prouder of my Nigerian sister.
Chimamanda she is always a delight to listen to . Each time i listen to her i just have this inner glow inside. i don't know if her speeches is better than her books . Anyway her speech is excellent and books just give you this waoooo feel.... love you Chimamanda
You truly have a way with words Chimamanda. Be proud of your gift and craft and continue to make your impact on the world. Tell our story with the grace and elegance that so becomes you.
Here I thought it was just my somali family that would cheer the African teams in the world cup lol but also after the african teams are gone we cheer for the teams with the most africans or at least those that field them.
What a powerful force. Although I am a scientist, I too am drawn to stories about people, and not science fiction, as I use these stories to mentally travel the world.
I love you Chimamanda!!! I can't watch enough of your lectures. You are such a rare and an intelligent writer. You greatly inspire my Writing! Much love from Kenya 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
I love her already. I was afraid initially. But God she gave a mind blowing lecture. It was interesting, wise and funny. Stimulating all your senses and imagination. She truly is a gifted writer and speaker
Men who were honourable discuss not race, beastial sex and inconsequential issues. CHIMAMANDA is an epitome of beauty for respected and honourable men with a heart of pure human feeling. Thank you CHIMAMANDA for making Igbo nation proud.
So after Chimamanda spoke for almost an hr about important topics, the guy who came after said what he values most about Chimamanda was her YOUTH! insulting much!
Who new Africa will have their own mouthpiece after it was ravaged by colonialism? Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche is one of the best African voices, rewriting our history, telling our human stories and changing how Africa was lebelled by those who has the power to tell our stories negatively.
@32.50, she nailed the British nicely there! What an honor for Chimamanda! Watching this right now, and I am so proud of this girl from Nsukka, Nigeria. It is good to have something good come out of Nigeria other than daily bad news...Excellent lecture too!
oooh chima, you me feel so well, and dreams are always in front of me.......may your listening makes me start to write and dream...from now and ever........
Her beauty is unquestionable but her depths of analysis and complex reasoning is what intrigues me and what will eventually leave the most lasting legacy in our world. I am proud to have experienced her, and share in her quest to help us minimize our need to create stories and stereotypes to understand people and situations, but to carefully realize that we are never getting the full story of a person, people or situation all the time. Her writing compels us to look deeper...and accept
It caught me off guard and that made me sad. But, at the same time it made me happy because she was more than willing to make me uncomfortable in what I think is normal. She showed me my wrong doing in one word. If that’s isn’t intelligence, I don’t know what is.
Her words do reflect a kind of 'Silent Truth', speaking volumes. I'm surpised to see how especially in the 'commonwealth' people of that common history as my Namibian self relate to her 'nigerian story'. Its a bit more an 'Africa story...' Really I see it as a 'Human Story' The necessary half of a long spoken story
In the context of what he was saying its difficult to see the insult you are referring to. And if you listened carefully his first reference was to the basic themes of her rather long speech. Anyway am sure Chimamanda will be happy to know you're noting "insults" on her behalf!
I just arrive now to listen to this lecture presented by Mrs Chimamada Nogozi. Truly I appreciate how she told the truth in front of the Bristsh people , without fear of any form. And how she depicted the truth about African culture and the ways we the African are still been imaginalize untill this present time. N.F.C is my Name (2022)
The British managed to make everyone learn, speak and make English their own language too. Awesome, except for the divide and rule that has caused problems in all their colonies. That evil they need to correct.
I want to be a teacher and a director of life. My name is Anyang I'm from South Sudan. I have experience racism and discrimination in America and I would like to sit down with journalist and tell my story.
While l thoroughly enjoyed Ngozi Chimamanda Adichie. It pains as well, knowing or aware that there are so many of Ms. Adichie languishing in abject none existence of opportunities to show case or have the same opportunities available at the time of Ms. Adichie. The lack of good governance is devastating and destroying every avenue that will be have been available due to corruption and neglect within Nigeria society today. It really saddened me.
Masha Allah thank you so much all leaders in this in this complex I I greet everyone to be finish our program to be a well goat check back to with happiness I grade all my family people our country god bless all of you Ada glory thank you so assalam
