What makes this next level, is the fact they are GENUINELY open to music, they almost can’t be trapped into one genre. It starts as a hip hop drum beat, then into metal and a simple rhythm when flamenco is ruling. I have a feeling they’ll be a lot bigger than we can anticipate.
Great breakdown my man. The wholesome bromance made this so much better than just a normal playthrough. Still in this same album I'd love to hear your thoughts on The audacity which is not so much guitar centered but still musical mayhem (in a very good way).
@@jleighwolfe I feel like drums bass and keys were more upfront in the mix and even busier melodywise than the guitars on that one, but hey everyone's ears are different haha.
What you get when you have 2 phenomenal guitarists have played together amd learned together for so long. Theyre so in sync all the time. You can see them doing lots of live guitar demos together and stuff over the years and its really impressive.
As always your input and breakdown is not only entertaining but enlightening and informative. Folding all 3 aspects into a reaction is what sets your videos apart from the rest for me. Also I saw them live recently and they are suuuuper tight live. It’s nuts how good they are.
Again, amazing analysis. The kind of detail only a professional musician can provide. Great to hear your detailed explanations, it helps even better to understand what's behind this piece. And you know that Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" was the first metal album Scott learned to play in its entirety, so it's not surprising that he call upon to that sound at the end of the theme.
I’ve learned 2 of their songs since my friends really like them, and when you pointed out the relatively simple chord progression I was a little shook by how simple yet complicated the stuff they play is. And yes my musical understanding is low despite my useless practicing of technique and flashy skills
Subbed to your channel. Really love your guitarist reaction approach. I really hope polyphia posts a playthrough for another new song off this album called gensis, because it has this r&b bluesy style that im sure youd dig. I hope that playthrough happens because id love to hear your take on it. Its very hendrixian.
What you say around minute 10 reminds me of when I first tried to put words to what I like about Polyphia. It goes something like: Each of their songs says (at least) one compelling thing, says it clearly, and follows that idea to its musical conclusion. But rather than following a traditional structure simply because it exists, each song says *everything* it can possibly say on its topic and creates its own form for saying it. That's why I keep coming back, because each song is so rich and self-contained.
The artwork on the guitars, by the way, i believe are some sort of magnetic covers. Tims 8 string and nylon im pretty sure are both his signatures and they just added that cover on them.
Thanks god for you explaining this 😅,I haven’t played guitar in my life yet I’ve been listening to this track from day one non stop and I’ve been picking it apart so I guess I’ll have to teach myself to play now… 😮
@@JackJenningsGuitarist probably a couple to be honest! I think you went to Dr Bells and Whitefield, but I swear you know my friend Andy Gillion too... so you may have went to Downend?!
@@syntheticalnothing wow yes that's all 3 and I do know Andy yes. What a funny coincidence, I don't remember any other guitar players when I was at Whitfield. So what's your name mate?
Glad my memory serves me!! You must know so many others too in that case! Haha I was more behind the scenes guitar player back then, along with Jake Tovey haha I think I was in the year below you? my name's Ash Grant Have you heard any of Andy's albums btw?? Would love to see some takes on his songs, there's some good ones!
To back up your point at around 13:00 I got a chance to see them live this year over the summer and they sound almost better live than they do on their recordings.
Just saw them and I have to agree - the drive is way more penetrating in person and a lot of lines I considered overly "floaty" on Spotify hit way harder live.
wanna see them really get goofy, watch them "sing" these tracks with the whole band. Here's one they did that will ruin your impression of Ego Death: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jPFrtyjqKLw.html
Great breakdown. Yes tapping harmonics, they're all over the new album. I think the drum playthrough adds to the guitar playthrough. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EnFan_7G3go.html Edit: Also yes, definitely the last part was composed after the rap was added. Tim mentioned in last week's interview on the Dragon Force channel that there are multiple versions of every song on the album through the years they were working on it and they're all completely different. Thankfully he also mentioned at some point they'll do a deluxe version of the album and release them. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Lf6b0NWSFCs.html
Bro Rock guitar would literally not exist as we know it today if it were not for Hendrix. He walked so that people like Tim could run. And I dont even really mess with his music I haven’t listen to Hendrix in like 10 years so im not even a fan just keeping it objective .
I get it .I get why people like Jimi Hendrix and don't get me wrong he was OK But when you look past the name of Jimi Hendrix and look past the hype and his outlandish outfits and persona he was A mediocre guitar player at best
@@davidhanson5181 i mean you not wrong. lol i agree with these guys when they say respect what he did but really only relative to the era he did it in. guitar has evolved way beyond what his legacy left behind.
