China-Africa Summit Begins With Promise Of $50 Billion From China As It Looks To Increase Influence

China is seeking to spread its influence further as the Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Thursday pledged over $50 billion in financing for Africa over the next three years, promising to deepen cooperation in infrastructure and trade with the continent as he addressed Beijing's biggest summit since the pandemic. Chinese and African leaders held a summit on deepening cooperation in a divided world. Dozens of African leaders gathered Thursday in Beijing for a summit that signals China's influence in a continent that it hopes will be a key ally in pushing back against a US-led global order. China is hailing the rise of the Global south and obviously eyes itself as a self appointed leader of it. This could be a threat not just for US but also for India that seeks to be the leader of the global south.
More than 50 African leaders and UN Secretary General are attending this week's China Africa forum. Addressing the leaders at the forum's opening ceremony in Beijing's ornate Great Hall of the People on Thursday morning, Xi hailed ties with the continent as in their "best period in history".
But critics charge Beijing with saddling nations with debt and funding infrastructure projects that damage the environment.

Why is India-US worried? Nobody asked for you to be “worried”about them. Nobody wants you to be worried about them. Nobody cares if you’re worried. Unlike visiting west for meeting ONLY. During every visit, China bring them(leader/minister) to visit factories , new tech farming ,...etc. When they return home, they will send people to China to learn to develop Africa. China willing to teach and help.

India is not there yet. India cannot provide a loan to African countries, not can it assist in infrastructure development as much as China. India needs to continue the work against poverty and equality of its own citizens.

Now Africa you mist pull yourselves together to make sure that every penny is paid back. It's pointless boosting about minerals if you are always expecting handouts. Something is very wrong if you are always mining and have to be begging. Another thing is those destructive wars. It's pointless building if wars are around the corner. India stop harping debt trap, Jealousy is the poison of healthy relationship between countries. No one will ask for loan if he cannot find cheap financing. Europe and America are financially strapped and much of the money go to Ukraine war. IMF loan comes with many strings attached which are undesirable.
