asimplyfab.life/ Will it burn diesel? Yes, it's a bit smoky on start-up... The Lan Shan LSO 618 Multi Fuel 'Dual Fuel' burner. A cheap Chinese knockoff of the Coleman Dual Fuel 'Guide' or 'Sportster' series single burners. While most stoves will burn petrol/gas or alcohol, diesel remains a bit of a challenge, I guess. It will not self-combust very easily, evidenced by a full minute trying to light off the initial burn. Eventually, the pipe going over the top does get hot enough to pull through and gasify the diesel fuel effectively turning it into a gas burner.
It isn't the cleanest and best of burns, but after ten minutes, or so, we had hot water for our tea. I mean, when in England... And especially the Lake District. I could recommend it as a backup burner for your gas cooker. It isn't nearly as clean or easy to use but it will help you out if it gets very cold, or you run out of gas canisters.
Thanks for watching!

To preheat with kerosene or especially diesel, you gotta soak the fiber pad. Lighting a pool of either of those is incredibly difficult. The pad provides surface area and individual fiber can get very hot a catch must faster. Wind obviously makes things more difficult. If you plan to run diesel or kerosene, I highly recommend preheating with alcohol or a mini butane torch, concentrating on the generator and burner bell. It worked better than I expected. Nice job!

I found that my stove would not burn properly at all using Diesel with the supplied Diesel Jet. All I could get was a large, messy yellow flame and lots of soot. When I replaced the Diesel jet with the supplied Gasoline jet and using Diesel fuel, I found that I could get mine to work like yours in the video, but if I tried to turn it up to full power, I was also get frequent flashes of yellow flame amongst the gassified blue flame. I'm pretty sure that the reason for the yellow flame bursts is that the heating tube is far too short and doesn't get hot enough to fully vaporise the fuel, which would be a design flaw. I've never had that problem with other stoves running diesel here, but in all other cases, their heating coils were substantially larger or coiled in the flame.

I think you have a point on the length of the heating tube🧐 I was quite surprised it would burn diesel at all!

With the early kerosine pressure lamps you would prime the starting bowl with a dash of alcohol or lighter fuel to heat the vaporisor faster and cleaner. Diesel is really very hard to light off I am impressed you managed to get enough heat to vaporise the fuel for lighting. Is this available on the usual big interweb type stores? Enjoy your trip man, down here in the Southern hemisphere in Australia we are having a crap summer, a few fays of pleasant 30 C plus days then back to low 20's, I think I will ask for a refund on this season. Cheers.

Yeah available on the bezos hyperstore (not proud to admit😏). Diesel took about a full minute to light off, very smoky. Good tip on the lighter fuel, shall try that one day🧐 #jealousnotjealous of the temps down there (reminds me of SA last year 🥵😅) considering it was down to zero here in the tent last night - but no snow 🤔.

I have a Coleman kero lantern and when I tried diesel in it it seemed I was constantly needing to use the clean out, but apparently not enough for it quickly went out. One way to light a pool of diesel is with paper or book matches. The diesel will likely put the first match out, but use the 2nd match to relight the first one and it will act like a wick. Same trick works for lighting 70% alcohol.

One nozzle is for gasoline and one for kerosene and diesel

Absolutely. Agreed 👍 Cheers for the comment But it still ran on the diesel, which was interesting 🤔

@@ASimplyFabLife glad your enjoying it. It’s a completely different place in the summer. Quite a bit of history to. Kendal for instance used to have a huge snuff factory, Ashness bridge pictures aee used a lot on biscuit tins & chocolate boxes as is so pretty. Buttermere is also another favourite place of mine. Have fun folks.

You answered both my questions, How does it burn on diesel and does it leave soot on the bottom of the pan .. Thanks for the upload ..

Cheers👍 It WILL burn diesel - just not very well, but out in the sticks if it burns it's a win!

I used the Coleman 533 Sportster for years and as long as you just used Unleaded or the Coleman fuel is was fine.. Some had issues with lower octane Unleaded but 98 octane, that we have in France never posed a problem... A mate did try Essence C which I believe is naptha, and it blocks the jets on the Coleman. The top tube or generator as they call it, has a spring that runs along inside, to open the jet when you turn the knob.. If the tube gets too coked up it snaps the spring.. Years ago the new generators cost almost as much as a new stove... So I have a collection of non working stoves... The best Coleman ever is the Duel fuel double burner.. I've got two of those and they are brilliant for car camping... You can even get an oven to go on top..

Yes, the Dual Fuel Coleman is the one to have - always gets going somehow. Rugged, reliable - (maybe how we like our Land Rovers to be) It will be interesting to see how long this old thing could keep going on the diesel before the tube gets clogged up (🤔I can then send it to you for your collection😉😀)

No, I got it off amazon, and the seller seems to have disappeared. Is available here (maybe buy another one for spares? All I can think of atmo): www.tvcmall.com/details/lso-618-portable-camping-gas-cooker-stove-fuel-alcohol-oil-burner-stove-cookware-skuc0010426a.html
