I can't comment on anything but as far as I know Brian is good at 1) bringing the best of his students; 2) being a true friend with them; 3) making his students feel easy to be with other fellow skaters - to compete fiercely at the arena WHILE being friends backstage. More importantly, he is able to coach athletes REPRESENTING different countries. It is unimaginable before it really works out for YUZU and JAVIER. When I first watched their competitions back in 2017, I can't believe my eyes that they are under the same coach.
I think its Orsers philosophy of a non-offensive, friendly competition which all of his skaters adept. His goal is to bring out the best of each one, focus on yourself and your skills and not necessarily strive to be the no 1 or win over an opponent. And the atmosphere in the Cricket Club seems very sociable and open, all his skaters usually are friendly with each other when they are at the same competitions, doesnt matter which country or federation they come from. Javier and Yuzu's friendship was exceptional since they are/were both literally the best skaters in the world, so they were literally rivals, yet were super nice to each other and even trained together in competitions. Both said that their friendship and training helped make them into better skaters. They balanced each other out, Javiers laid back and warm character vs Yuzu's super intense tunnel focus. idk man, watching them over the years was beautiful, it's stuff for the movies.
@@AlexBsSecret I agree although it's important to know your opponent and setting a goal, the primary focus is still on the self. Improving one's skills and trust that training during programs.
I am shook that there is room for Sui and Han’s skating skills to grow!!!!!! In all seriousness anyone just needs to see how Evgenia’s basic skating skills have improved from 2018-2019. Her crossovers are bigger and smoother and she no longer hunches her shoulders over as much. Brian as a coach is not for everyone but I think the basic techniques he and Tracy teaches are important building blocks for any skater
I really love Brian's method of teaching! As a figure skater myself, he really motivative me to skate better! It is my dream to be his student someday!
I really love how he teach because everything's is build up from basics and you need to practice consistently to make sure it's still in your muscle memory.
Naturally. They need Jin Boyang to have more consistency though, he's been really out of sorts this season when competing at the top level. If he develops more stability and artistry he might have a shot at gold. As it stands, China's best bet is the Sui/Han duo in pairs skating (2022 likely being their last Olympics, and at home too!) The pressure will be immense!
@@edukid1984 I hope they can make it! Sui Han... and Boyang too.. i really love his beautiful jump.. but his skating skill still have more room to grow. I just can't believe how someone who able to jump like Boyang so hard to get into podium.
But their coaching relationship had soured shortly after the Vancouver Olympics. There were many accusations and hearsay. I guess you didn't know about this.
@@jyanneskye2535 However their relationship ended up, they still were the fantastic duo bringing the gold medal from Vancouver and thereby Orser became a much coveted coach from the other Asian countries and elsewhere.
I think it was the culture shock that was a problem for Yuna. She said their relationship was "awkward" and Brian, himself, said that she was very quiet, shy, and reserved. I think that was why she ended up returning to Korea to train. He is coaching Jun Hwan Cha though now, really talented young skater. You can see Yuzu, Javi, Jason, and Evgenia are much more social and outspoken.
I think one of the top Chinese pair team should be trained at Cricket Club with Orser in Toronto permanently, NOT seminar, but having Orser as the head coach for a Chinese pair team. This will help Chinese pair skating status on an international stage.
English sub please!
