@@nggjfhYes, as the two SAR's of China, this is a kind of favor to Hong Kong 🇭🇰 and Macao 🇲🇴 travel industry as foreigners can reset their Chinese visa there.
The most wonderful thing about Chinese cuisine is that even if you feel uncomfortable with the local food in one place, you will always find a cuisine that suits you in other places. China is very, very large, and many Chinese people cannot travel the entire country in their lifetime. This is a huge treasure trove, and we welcome you to explore it. By the way, I saw your video on a Chinese platform and it's not as unpopular as Hill said. In fact, the majority of the reviews I've seen are very positive. Your video is very authentic and provides many Chinese people with a foreigner's perspective on our lives. I wish you all a happy time.
The Chinese do not speak English because they have their own official language, Chinese. This is a land that has never been colonized, nor has it been forcibly eroded by foreign cultures. No one forces them to speak English in their daily lives, except for the mandatory requirement in exams. However, Chinese people speak Chinese, which is not only a daily communication ability, but also a symbol of strength, a cultural heritage, a spirit of embodiment, a status manifestation.
@@xryanleeWhat are you on? Like you said they are visiting CHINA. If the Chinese people live in China and have no plan to travel abroad or do business with foreigners, why should they be able to speak English? If they can live a happy life only speaking Chinese, that’s their own choice. Further to your point, if I travel to Germany, I don’t expect every German person to speak English to me. Not mention, European countries are much smaller compared to China and have so many different languages. A lot of time, they’ll have to be able to speak other languages to make their daily life easier.
China people don't ask westerners to speak Chinese when they go to the West. Instead, they feel that their English is not good and they are too shy to speak.
In china, every food is every city is different, one city's food can beat one country. imagine there are 200 cities, they are equal 200 countries food.
liang fen, the jelly you guys ordered is a Chinese legume dish consisting of starch jelly that is usually served cold, with a savory sauce, often in the summer. Liangfen is generally white or off-white in color, translucent, and thick. It is usually made from mung bean starch, but may also be made from pea or potato starch. So it was not the physical potato, but the starch of potato.
I think you have changed from the nervousness and anxiety when you first arrived in China to the pure joy of traveling. I think this is what everyone who really comes to China will feel. Regarding some comments from Chinese netizens, I think they are a bit excessive. After all, cultural backgrounds are different. Maybe what Chinese people often see or accept may not be what you can accept. For example, the "Chinese potatoes" you ate this time should actually be called sweet potato noodles. Chinese people can completely accept it, but foreigners may not be interested in this kind of texture. This is the so-called cultural shock, and this cultural shock is two-way for vloggers. While you feel the cultural shock, the locals who watch the vlog will also feel it.
I saw your videos through the domestic short video platform, which was transferred by other bloggers. Most of the comments are netizens who like you. Most Chinese people are kind and friendly
The jelly stuff inside of a donkey burger is not fat. It's donkey meat broth jelly. Donkey meat is generally very lean, it actually makes it harder to cook.
I have met a young couple in Thailand recently. They were from US and flow to Singapore and they were traveling from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and then to Cambodia and Vietnam and before going back to US. We have happened to have a casual friendly conversation and I have asked them since they are so near to China, why not go to China just for a few days to see China. I told them China is very interesting. But I was surprised of what they told me. They said according to all their media reports in US and advice by their government and many other people. They were advice and told not to travel to China. Even their parents don't allow them to go to China. They were told China is not a safe country to travel. Very dirty, poor rundown infrastructures, poor transportation system, polluted, Chinese are very unfriendly to foreigners, homeless people are everywhere waiting to rob tourists are common even in broad daylight. Chances of been detained for no reason by the Communist government is very high. Because China is an authoritarian state and all foreign visitors are monitored by thousands of cameras everywhere and every minute where foreign visitors go. Foreign visitors from western countries can be detained for months or even years for no reason. All these is what they know about China. The couple is like below 25 years of age and already so badly brainwashed by their government and controlled media. This is really sad.
What you know is what you learnt. It isn't brainwash but brain-feed. They did not have any previous or exiting knowledge to be washed. What they can to do for themselves is to be open-minded, and open their eyes to see for themselves.
The Chinese potato is actually made from potato starch…it’s potato jelly… There are so many yummy foods you haven't eaten. Enjoy your food tour adventures! !
I'm 18 years old now. As a Chinese, I haven't been to many places in China. Now I'm still in school. I hope I can have time to travel to many places when I'm work.
@@whatdouknowzilch5636There are many ways. In fact, almost everyone in university needs to get on google to search academic information, so we will try to pass wall. Government's attitude to this behavior is ambiguity, it will not permit everybody to pass wall but someone really needs to.
Chinese is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. There are as many Chinese speakers as English speakers in the world. It is normal for older people not to speak English. Each province in China is larger than Germany, so the food in each province is different and affected by climate and culture. If you go to Guangzhou in the future, you will experience completely different food.
A little correction ! The country with the most Mandarin speakers is China, the country with the most English speakers is also China ...wrap that around your head !
European languages like English, French and Spanish are languages of colonizers that is why they are "popular" today, but number wise they are minuscule out of a global population of 8 billion people ! There is roughly 321 million French, 574 million Spanish and 1.5 billion English speakers worldwide.
@@zingwibrothers if you go to guangzhou, have a try to a city called shantou(汕头), there will be another amazing delicious beef hotpot, and this city is just 2 or 3 hours railway from guangzhou
It's not a potato, it's cassava roots that are ground into flour and then mixed with water to make something like rice noodles, some of which are made into noodles, some of which are made into squares.😂
@@zingwibrothers This is where the difference in palate comes into play. The Chinese palate does not like dry flaky textures like bread, potato, white chicken breast meat, salmon or tuna. They consider those low end foods. The Chinese palate likes tender, gelatinous type of texture like lobsters, shrimps etc... If you go to a high end Chinese restaurant they even have dish called War-Shew-Kai chicken, but it made entirely for prawns with a chicken skin on it, be sure to have some when you are visiting Guangzhou !
@@zingwibrothersactually it is made from potato starch, so the seller didn’t lie to you. What I understand most of the Western people don’t like the jelly like felling, such as sea cucumber. It is totally cultural difference.
To be honest, I secretly hoped you could communicate more with the locals and play together, then you did in the last video. I hoped you could try 梅干菜锅盔,then you did in the last vedio. I hoped you could make Chinese friends and have fun, then you did🤣 This is the pleasure of watching Cultivating vlogger🤣 I actually have a good impression on you since your first China video

3:27 Haha, it's a misunderstanding here. The "donkey fat" is actually a product made from sweet potato starch and donkey meat broth called “焖子”. It brings a rich meaty flavour and layered texture for the filling. BTW, donkey meat is more healthy than beef or pork cause it has a much lower content of fat.
Brother, there are electric shared bicycles in southern cities, and walking around the city is very enjoyable!! If you want to try different styles of Chinese cuisine, we recommend going to: Shandong, Sichuan, Guangzhou, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Hunan, Anhui, Xinjiang, Yunnan. Don't go to food streets to eat fast food, go to independent restaurants for better taste.
Yes, younger generation can speak English well. Glad that you are getting to know more about China.Suggest you apply for a long-term visa to explore China 😊
The donkey one you thought was gut is the cooling down gelatin soup, when boiled the donkey meat can get. The potato one is in fact made from a kind of bean.
The box is not filled with potatoes. If I'm not mistaken, it's jelly. In Sichuan, we call it "hot jelly", which is like jelly. It is made from sweet potatoes, with soy sauce, red oil, chili, Sichuan pepper (the stuff that makes your mouth numb), salt, onions and other condiments. It is a very popular snack.
In China, we mainly have four major cuisines (sometimes divided into eight major cuisines), and Sichuan Province's cuisine values spiciness. Shandong Province's cuisine values seasoning, and Beijing is deeply influenced by Shandong cuisine. Guangdong Province's cuisine values freshness (similar to the original taste of food). Huaiyang Cuisine values the chef's knife skills and changes in seasoning. For Chinese people, Beijing and Shanghai are not the first choices for enjoying delicious food, but here you can taste various dishes from all over the country, although they may not be authentic enough. The real food still needs to explore other places in China, such as Northeast China. If you go there, you will find that the taste there is very similar to that of Germans. People like to eat various sausages with pickled Chinese cabbage.
It is recommended to go to Northeast China, such as Harbin. There are a lot of delicious foods there. For instance, stewed pork with pickled cabbage. Germans will definitely not want to go home.
If you want to eat really good food in China, ask those men in their 30s and 40s, they will give you the right answer. China is very big, so every place has its own characteristics. Try to eat more local food instead of eating at snack streets, because snack street food is everywhere in China. When you find local food and restaurants, believe me, you will understand why Chinese people are so obsessed with eating. I guarantee that the variety and deliciousness of Chinese food are the best in the world.
Guangzhou in Guangdong province is the undisputed foodie paradise in China. The south has a remarkable diversity of ingredients. Combine those with very meticulous way of preparation, you get a wide spectrum of food. The most notable will be "yum cha" which is now a worldwide phenomenon. Spicy food lovers have to go to Hunan, Jiangxi, Sichuan. Germans have to visit Qingdao for a bit of home feeling and beer.
Guys, don’t spend all of your time in those big cities, go to the regions, visiting some mountains, villages, forests, old towns, lakes, like: Zhangjiajie, yellow mountain, Guilin, Jiuzhaigou, Dali, Lijiang, these places are the true beauty of China
Remember the first beer you had in China? "TsingDao"- every mid-July they host international beer fest. You gonna see millions get drunk on the beach. + it used to governed by Germany
You can share your video in Bilibili, a platform like RU-vid. I am really interested in your tour in Guangzhou, as you know, Guangzhou is famous for its food. The food you eat in Guangzhou is a little bit different to what you eat in Shanghai and Beijing, and I recommend you should try 早茶 Zao Cha (not a tea but many dim sum and good tea you can get in a restaurant)😊
I am Chinese and a heavy user of bilibili. What he saw was that there were friendly comments and bad comments,I also saw it and refuted them. I know the real reason: your first video just came to China, and there were some things that I didn’t understand. For example, it said there were many surveillance cameras. Like, I thought it was okay when you first arrived, but a blogger made a biased title, and a few people didn't even see what you were really talking about. You know when most voices are welcoming foreign tourists. Sometimes, in order to get views, some bad guys will say the opposite and attract attention. Most Chinese people welcome you, and I think you feel it too. So I want to tell you, don't mind those few people who have their brains kicked by donkeys. People who are really interested will know how open-minded you two are, respect our culture, like Chinese people and food, and have a good trip.
Did you realise those videos are stolen from them, the atmosphere had also become a bit strange or awkward towards to the end of this episode, because they realised they went viral in the Chinese community and their videos have been stolen and uploaded elsewhere, and on top of that many negative comments, which is a double whammy.
@@rollingdownfalling I know the bad side of this. Although they mark the source and link of the video, this is almost inevitable in China. The spiral thing is gluten, grilled gluten. Firstly you make a dough out of flour. And you wash it in water. All the starch/carbs are washed and dissolved in the water. What’s left is gluten. You put it on a stick and cut it into a spiral shape and grill it with some spices and sauces.
Chinese dishes feature fat, particularly those sauted, which we love. Steamed Pork belly in pickled vegetable ( Kou Rou, 扣肉) is recommended while I saw its German version was sold in Berlin’s famous market around the very famous cathedral along with the heated red wine. Fat is not a monster!!
Some people actually think that animal fat is not bad for you but rather those seed oils because they go through high temperatures to derive the oils from seeds, corn, rapeseed etc. Incidentally rapeseed oil wasn't even used for food and contains some erucic acid which humans couldn't eat until they genetically modified rapeseed to have lower erucic acid for human consumption!
You come to Kunming, Yunnan and try the mushroom hotpot here, it will give you a different experience. But it's better to find a local person to take you to try, otherwise there is a risk of poisoning. Yunnan is also a major tourism province in China, with numerous ethnic minorities, which will definitely bring you a different tourism experience. Looking forward to your arrival.
In China there is a etiquette, and others drink clink glasses, their glasses slightly lower than the other side of the glass, this is the respect for each other.
You should have watched more expatriate vloggers living in mainland China (eg Living in China, Blondie in China, The China Traveler, PopMatta, Luca and Rachele, Nico, King Kwesi, Jerry Goode, Jerry Grey, Daniel Dumbrill, Andy Boreham/Reports on China, Rafa Goes Around)
An interesting project for you guys: Find and try all different kinds of hotpot in China! I still continue to learn new kinds of hotpot here and there when I watch new food videos. It could be a life long journey.
Some examples: Beijing hotpot (originate from mongolian back in the day, non-spicy), Sichuan hotpot (very spicy), Chaoshan beef hotpot (focus on fresh beef), Cantonese porridge hotpot (boil with white rice porridge).
4:08 China has a culinary history of 5,000 years MUCH longer than most countries have even existed. Much older than European countries. China invented way more than you will ever know-and not just cuisine.
If the Roujiamo you are eating is bitter, it must be mixed with cucumber inside. It has a bitter taste, not because it is bad, but because of insufficient sunlight that causes some bitterness
Bro, don't be hurt by unfriendly comments, coz most of them are merely not happy with Indians trying to beat China things, or confusing why should a Chinese meant to speak English.❤ Yet most ppl on Chinese tiktok are happy to see your attitude changing during this trip, and welcome you to visit their hometown cities.🎉
It's not taste like potato, but it's made of potato. We have some foods called "fen" which are like noodles but not noodles. And the "fen"have the shape of lump or noodles.FOREIGNERS call these all noodles.but THEY are not the same food, and have different taste.
What you eat is called "potato fen",it's made of potato flour. In china potato fen can be cooked in different ways. if you try the cold potato fen(or you can call it noodles),it will feel better.
Chinese food is worth exploring first, then the traditional Chinese buildings and gardens, next we have beautiful scenery, hope you enjoy yourselves here
The thing looks like fat in the donkey burger actually is not fat. That's the meat soup jelly(curd?). Some people love it (personally i don't like it too).
That is not FAT........... 焖子 (Mènzi) is a traditional Chinese snack, particularly popular in the Shandong province. It is made primarily from sweet potato flour, giving it a unique, jelly-like texture. The preparation involves steaming the flour mixture until it solidifies, after which it is cut into pieces and usually stir-fried with garlic, soy sauce, and sometimes chili. The resulting dish is savory, slightly chewy, and often enjoyed as street food or a side dish.
肉焖子 (Ròu Mènzi) is a variation of the traditional Chinese snack 焖子 (Mènzi), incorporating meat into the dish. This version typically combines the jelly-like texture of the original 焖子 with pieces of meat, such as pork or beef, adding a savory and richer flavor profile.
This kind of copper hot pot with a chimney originated from the Mongolian nomads. In the Yuan Dynasty (13th century), the Mongols entered the country and became the ruling class, so they brought this kind of hot pot from Mongolia to Beijing.
