Yea, people are not going to be generous. They are always to going criticize how similar it looks to the Blackhawk and say Chinese have no originality and only steal designs. Instead of trying to please people who are out to get you, they should just do their thing because national security is far more important than hurt feelings.

My view that the Z-20 should be able to operate on board the Type 052D is based on the statement in the Chinese press reports, apparently sourced from retired PLA colonel, that the Z-20 is intended to replace the Z-9C and the Ka-28. Based on this specification, it would make sense for the Z-20 to be able to operate on board the basic Type 052D destroyers, same as its two predecessors it is intended to replace. Also, the Z-20 is about the same size as the Seahawk, and the latter is used on fairly small US warships (e.g. LCS), although I don't know how the size of their helipads compare to PLAN destroyers.

@@EurasiaNaval You could be right. And the Z-20 is to replace the Ka-28 and Z-9 where possible. Basing my comment to you on 2 points. First is the lengthening of the flight deck on the DL version by around 4 metres. Second is the folded length of the Z-20 is likely longer than the Z-9 or Ka-28. Now the hanger on other vessels that can accommodate the Ka-28 and Z-9 might also be able to accommodate the Z-20, we don't know.

What you just described is literally exactly how China copies (see reverse engineer) tech. They have done the same thing with the SU-27 family of aircraft. This isn't inspired by, its "stolen from". You can not in good faith, look at this helicopter and say "China built this 100% from scratch". It just isn't true. Sure, they added a rotor blade, and made some other changes. But at its core, its a Blackhawk with Chinese tech onboard.

Honestly i hope that copyhawk is better than the original. That would be disappointing considering the fact that the copy hawk entered service in like 2019 and the black hawk entering service in 1974.

I had a quick look at naval library app, and this seems based on the normal Z-20s that are in service: Max speed 190 knots (fairly high), cruise speed 160 knots, range 560 km (lower than I had expected). Size at 20 m length and 5.3 meteres height is similar to a Seahawk. Service ceiling approximately 6,000 meters. In addition to the avionics we already discussed, there is a Satcom, a IFF (fairly standard), radar warning system (again fairly standard). No info on the spec of the radar - that's secret!

@@EurasiaNaval nice 1. domestic development of rotary wing a/c was very slow in the 80's- 2000's albeit based on imported super frelon, civilian s70 and lp of as365 - think how long it took to work on version of s70 imported to china in mid 80s (used by the pla early on, i believe). my understanding is that development of rotary wing a/c is extremely complex because of the rotational forces (multi-axis). almost certainly, during this period resources were focused on fixed wing/ turbofans. btw, the short period preceding tiananmen is fascinating in terms of us-ch military cooperation in that cold war era...russia = 'my enemy's enemy is my friend'..us cooperated w/china to oeprate a joint elint station to track russian missile testing from their baikonur test site, import of us artillery, artillery locating radar and even -to my knowledge - us torpedoes (early mk 48!). we have a huge gap in knowledge of ch torpodoe systems....wikipedia clains yu-6 is a 'cloned version of mk48 but i do recall reports of mk48 being exported to china - whether they were delivered is not known...

They cant. And besides, even if they do copy our stuff, they dont research anything about the helicopter they are copying. They will start to fall apart in a few years.

Transition to tail section is very different. Also it has 5-blade rotor instead of 4.

@@mikel4690 ...you had hit on the two biggies of Chinese Z-20 appearances, which were fundamentally different from the oldies that of Merican seahawk. For those in the knows, by adding an extra rotor blade, and an enlarged chassis with the subsequent treatment of the transition of her tail section, would require a drastically new design in aerodynamics, and areas of engineerings! With the use and incorporation of indigenous motor, avionics & flight controls, etc. would also involve many new and major efforts in her creation. After years of tests and flights over Tibetan plateaus, Z-20 had finally vouched for her success and readiness into PLAAF combat services!

It is indeed a copy, but the engine power is higher, the propellers are more and the sound is quieter, considering that Siskoki has no registered patent in China, this is legal, hahahaha

@@totoitekelcha7628 Well, its not a duplicate. It took heavy inspiration from it. China bought 24 blackhawks since 1980s, and know its strength and weakness, and thats why Z20 family is designed to be a improved model to replace them.

But with better domestic engines, larger body space and better avionics and radars system than the older Blackhawk. The engines nozzles are pointing upwards not sideways like America Blackhawk. This is definitely not a copy. It's just base on Blackhawk helicopter.

@@Ricardo-yt7fg then you have to know that there are more than 20 generations of Blackhawk are produced and applied in more than 40 years, it’s definitely not true that the originals are the best. And if you emphasize it’s copy, it’s not a shame anyway, China couldn’t even produce qualified Soviet helicopters with a prepared production line back to 80s. Last but not least, all techniques of Z20 are 100 percent Chinese and the design is better than Blackhawk as the others already told you.
