Well, building a rocket is not difficult and it has nothing to do with writing a program. I have begun experimenting with solid rocket fuel when I was 15 years old, mixing black powder and other chemical compounds by myself to boost the engine thrust. Building a rocket is not difficult if one knows chemical reactions and how to calculate the correct mixture. However, 11 years is very young to be able to know the various combinations of chemicals and to calculate the exact mixture. Compressing the solid propellant into the rocket is a dangerous procedure as it could explode if one uses too much force. Nevertheless, this boy is a genius, no doubt.

In the US, we often had these stories but often times these child prodigies disappear, and you never hear anything again after they reach adulthood.

Although the 11 year old rocket boy and his still primitive rocket are a good story, the most impressive thing I would think is a major Indian media reported it and in a positive tune. It must be an extremely slow day in Indian news. 😄

Not long ago both were victims of occupation/colonisation... border issues can be resolved quickly with enough goodwill... if not leave in the backburner and focus on what's important for the well-being of the people ❤❤

Yan Hongsen is a shining star. He is outstanding or exemplary in many area for a 11 year old boy. Yan Hongsen taught himself programming, physics, and chemistry, then wrote 600 lines of code to build a rocket, has become an online sensation in China. Yan Hongsen fell in love with rockets and astronomy. Since kindergarten, he has taken online programming courses and self-studied physics and chemistry via books, videos and forums with astronomy enthusiasts. Starting in August 2022, he spent 10 months building his first homemade solid-fuel rocket. However, shortly after the rocket ascended, its booster failed to deploy its parachute after separation. The remaining components also sustained damage, leading to its crash. Undeterred, Yan Hongsen gathered the scattered debris without showing any sadness, and set about analysing the cause of the failure. He is modifying his second version of the rocket, hoping to launch it again in the future. Yan Hongsen has a clear plan for his future, hoping to get into one of China’s seven prestigious civilian defence universities. Yan’s dream is to build a real rocket for China to explore the universe when he grows up.
