I also like how she doesn’t waste anyone’s time by showing every single step on real time...she shows just enough for viewers to understand, which is wonderful!
I do not speak Mandarin, and yet I understand everything this wonderful chef is doing and I am able to follow her all the way to the end of the video. Fantastic way of sharing your recipes. Simplicity, clarity and a complete understanding of your skill in order to pass on that knowledge. Thank you very much!!
NEMO - Yeah, these videos of hers are a treat to watch but whoa, *1g* of *white pepper* is *_waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay_* too much for my taste (1/32nd of a Tsp is enough for 1.5lbs of mashed potatoes !!!)
Potatoes Chinese: "Let's mash them into some minced beef, season the resulting paste with various spices, and use that as filling for some pan fried buns" The West: "wHeRe mY bOiLeD pOtAtOeS aT?"
Hiyuke La Vie I mean... Latin America is also in the Western Hemisphere and we’ve made meals of banana peels and grapefruit rinds... but go off. If you said “Europeans” I might have agreed.
@@safslut01 you'd eat 'garbage' too if your country had a severe meat shortage. Some of these recipes were born out of necessity but evolved into what they are today. Cuban grapefruit steaks are delicious for example, packed with nutrition and vitamin C but we would normally discard grapefruit peels otherwise
My husband, and therefore my children also, have Chinese heritage. As an avid home cook, we've been exploring culture through food for years. And THIS recipe looks like the perfect fusion between Chinese and Australian cultures. Australia is known for its meat (beef) pies! I'm excited to find this Chinese version, and will try it with the children later in the week!
There are also latino meat pies called empanadas. There are Mexican ones and Central American kind. They are all yummy in my opinion! 👌 I would love to try this asian style dough.
I made this during the lockdowns ands it’s become one of my families favorites! Amazingly delicious and simple to make. Honestly one of my favorite foods. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!
特别好的做馅饼的方法!按照小高姐的一模一样做,薄皮大馅儿,牛肉因为有土豆也不硬,是我们做过最成功的馅儿饼。谢谢小高姐! This recipe simply works, great method! We did exactly the same as she taught, the pancake itself is very thin while the beef filling is chunky and not over-cooked that could have become very hard in texture. This is our most successful attempt to make such kind Chinese style meat-filling pancake. I just have to write in both Chinese and English to say thank you very much!
My earphones came off accidentally, and I panicked and put them back on immediately as if I was going to miss some important instructions ~ I don't understand a word she's saying😂 Anyway, it looks delicious!
2 things : 1. thanks for the great, simple, and so tasty / gourmand recipe ! 2. look at the comments ! Cooking is such a beautiful discipline, it gathers the whole world ! Cites one language that does not appear [yet] in these comments ! Awesome :) Xiexie ! [from Nantes, France]
I don't understand what she's saying but I can definitely follow what she's doing. great recipe and clear demonstration. thanks! im gonna try to make them soon!
Hi Magic Ingredients😊 This looks so yummy.... I love the way you slowly show movements and you position your camera well so non-Chinese speakers will understand what you are teaching. Great recipe! This resembles gokui....
Watching this gave me countless alternatives for this recipe, you can make it with lamb, pork, chicken, duck, sausages, eggs, veggies, chocolates/sweets...
This became one of my favourite dishes, not only because it is delicious, but it can be freezed and cooked and it is as tasty as ever. Great for the days I came back from work and I only need a pan with oil to have a good meal.
Asian folks never fail to AMAZE me with their intelligence, AWESOME format, Mandarin Chinese for native speakers, english subtitles for foreigners and the video images carefully showing step by step instructions means this recipe is a NO FAIL for whom ever wants to try this, thank you for sharing and I send you greetings from Mexico! :)
Helpful tips for first timers: 1. If you can’t find Sichuan peppercorn, use half cardamom half black pepper. The flavor is similar. 2. Make half the recipe. 10 is a LOT. It takes over one and a half hours just to fry them if you do them one at a time. If you do make the full recipe, put the oven on low to keep warm. 3. Don’t fret too much about the thickness of the dough. It may be off balance but the resulting pie will come out ok.
I wondered why this showed in my recommendations. So I watched and I'm very glad there are english captions. At half of the video, I clicked subscribed and the video ended in my favorites. I don't like cooking videos or cooking shows, but this is perfect ! Calm, simple and very precise, detailed. Good job algorithm, that is an awesome recommendation :)
Don't you hate it when you find a recipe and think "that looks really quick and simple" then 4hrs later you've finally finished cooking...😅 Still, very tasty tho. 👍
Oh, I tried! Total unequivocal failure! Oil and flour all over the place. It took me nearly an hour to clean up. I consider myself an experienced cook but this was too much!
@@TheChewyleaf Thank you for asking. I salvaged it somehow and ended up with a huge amount of doughy meat. They are sort of like meat pancakes, which is ok. Just not at all what she made.
@@sfreddy Ah that's a shame, sounds like it tasted nice anyway though! I tried the recipe yesterday and it actually went surprisingly well. I don't know if this helps, but I cut the recipe to 40% of the total, so it only made 4 pancakes. This made my life a lot easier as then I quartered the dough and the mince to figure out the right proportions, or I would have found it very hard splitting it into 10.
I just (like literally 5 minutes ago i ate the last one) tried these, and they are amazing. I have to admit, that I was concerned about how much flavor there would be with so much potatoes and so little spices, but its phenomenal. These will be definitely made a lot more times in the future. I'll make a batch tomorrow so that my SO has a batch for lunch when she has to go to work in the evening. Thank you soooo much for sharing this recipe! Much love from germany!
When she put that huge ball of meat on a tiny piece of dough, I was like... OK, yeah...... Then she wrapped that shit up like a champ and still able save a tiny bit of dough left. This is why I can't make dumplings. Mine would be super doughy.
bizhop2 i tried to today it worked pretty fine because the dough is pretty stretchy and i was flexing with my mom and she was impressed 😂 really its the dough which makes it wok
YES! My family lived in Shandong province a few years ago and we had these pies almost every day. Now we can make them at home! We're so excited. Thank you! We love your videos. They are very easy to follow and pleasant to watch. Good work!
We have something similar in El Salvador , they’re called Pupusas. I love when cultures share similarities like this. Makes this huge world seem so small.
great recipe... yes it does take some planning, but totally worth it my first experience with a "hot water dough" amazing what 2 hours of rest does . My advice for stretching the dough around the filling...make sure the filling as cold as it can be and the dough is room temp.
These are pretty similar to the salvadorian dish called pupusas! I always have them with a bean and cheese filling but chicharron (style of pork) can be used, you spoon a ball of it into a masa mixture and even close it off and flatten them like shown in the video and they are cooked on the griddle :)

My chinese friend recommned this channel. I have such a good memory of chinese food when I took backpacking in China. And this was my favourite street food. I am thrilled to try recipes in here one by one.

Thank You..! Thank You..! Thank You..! 🙏🏼🤗 Me and my husband made this yesterday and it was SO DELICIOUS 😋 We have lived in China and this is one of our favourite snack. I think it is called Jiān xiàn bǐng.. is that correct ? Anyway, Thank you again for this wonderful recipe ❤️ Moreover, Thank you so very much for the English subtitle and Recipe also in English.. Very much appreciated. 🤗
I tried it and even though i don't have the dough molding down like she does these still came out Delicious!! I seasoned the ground beef with my own seasoning though, i did add the poatatoes and green onions as she did, wonderful tasty recipe, will do again definitely! Thank you for this delicious recipe!
I just made this, it worked great! I improvised a vegetarian filling for it, though, but it was still delicious. And the dough was so stretchy, really fun to make.
omg that looks so good and the video was some sort of magic! When she had the ball of dough so small compared to the ball of meat i was like :what ? HOW! and then magic happens.
