I'm happy to hear these young Chinese people say they want the age of consent raised in China. I hope that this case is the catalyst for raising the age of consent in China and other nations.

I'm so glad I'm not a superfan of any celebrity anymore. Being a hardcore stan of anyone can blind you. The amount of people who have already to assumed his innocence is appalling. Obviously we don't know the full details, but in general, I wouldn't be surprised if assault/harassment runs rampant behind the scenes in the industry. It's not uncommon for people with money and power.

I think it's important when discussing sexual harassment by celebrities you should also talk about sexual harassment and rape culture in general. Celebrities are less than 1% of the population, but one in every 3 women will experience sexual abuse, I think these celebrities cases should be an opportunity to talk about this issue in general, and not just a single case.

His stans are still defending him on his social media accounts. His stans will defend and worship him no matter what he does and it's disgusting. At this point it's almost like a cult.

For those holding out hope these allegations will prove to be false: it is important to note that the burden of proof in sexual assault and rape cases is much higher in China than many other justice systems around the world. The police must have been presented with very conclusive evidence for this to have taken the course that it has. There is no reason to doubt that he is guilty.

Some of the comments in this video really show just how sheltered some of these kids are. Like that girl who said she thinks its an isolated incident because she's never heard of celebrities doing this to teenagers before...what a thing to live in that type of blissful ignorance.

For all the laws and precautionary measures China has, I'm surprised that their age of consent is 14. I actually thought it would've been 18 or at least a year older.

never get attached to idols

This is one of the biggest reasons I hate the whole concept of celebrities need to be pure and innocent crap. People should never forget that celebrities are still human beings, them being rich or gorgeous wouldn't instantly turn them into an angel. They can still commit crimes so we shouldn't 100% trust and worship them. Some people who are depressed or suffering view celebrities as a god figure, a reason to live for and a role model to follow which is wrong. This kind of mentality must stop. At same time we shouldn't try hard to force them to pretend to be clean. They should be allowed to date, curse, drink...etc like any normal people. ( Am not trying to defend Kris here. What he did is unforgivable and he has no excuse to being such a scum. Am talking about other celebrities like Kpop idols who are adults yet aren't even allowed to drive, date, drink or smoke due to their companies banning it and people considering these stuff awful scandals ) I think at times the stress building up from having your life constantly controlled by your company and fans / getting suffocated with sky high expectations can lead the celebrities to lose it and do stupid stuff like becoming addicted to drugs or even lead to depression and suicide. In this case some of their obsessed, hardcore fans might follow them by also committing suicide cause they lost their beloved god figure. The whole concept of purity of perfection only leads to tragedies and misery. If the fans only focused on the celebrities talent instead of personal lives then everyone would be more happy. You can admire their looks, love their personalities, respect their achievements and good deeds but don't make your whole life revolved around them. They also shouldn't be forced to make their lives revolved around their fans and try their best to be someone they aren't. Anyway Kris's career is pretty much dead and I really hope all the victims get justice and other celebrities / people overall who are thinking about doing such disgusting stuff as well will think twice before attempting to. People would do anything to get what Kris has in his life and yet he ruined it all, it's just sad as heck! ( Hope everything I said made sense ).

Moral of this story: the higher you go, the humbler you should be... or else, you’ll fall hard to the ground.

After hearing the news, i'm shocked. I have been a long time fan of him since his exo days until today. I no longer can side with him at this point. If he's going to jail, it is a 100% fact. I hope the victims get their justice soon.

I've did a TVC shoot (ice tea commercial) with him in singapore where I was the production assistant (doing low level work). Never had a good impression of him. He refused to reply the crew in chinese when spoken to in chinese and only spoke in english to crew and korean to his china friends that was with him. He also spilled bubble tea on the floor, and made the producer take a taxi out just to get him another cup. That additional cup cost in total about 40 SGD inclusive of the taxi fee. No apologies was given.

As ironic as it is, the industry that is full of the brightest stars also has the darkest shadow. Whether his case is proven true or not later on, we all should acknowledge that the entertainment and fashion industry across the world is plagued by a culture of sexual abuse and power tripping. It is much more common than what we think it is. I hope that one day, all personalities that enable and perpetuate such a disgusting culture will face the corresponding punishment for their crimes.

I really don't want to make it sound like ALL celebrities and idols are bad people or anything, but, *famous people are still PEOPLE and that means they are just as corruptable and corrupting, as any other person.* They will use their money and fame to get what they want, like anyone would. Fame will either destroy you, make you destroy others or both. Its not suprising at all. What annoys me is that there's still no reall end to the "this idol is pure and innocent OMG so handsome and clean etc." because... like... GROW UP. They're not!!! They're people with lusts and dark sides. Fans needs to stop eating-up the corporate nonsense.

I think it's okay to support good music and good talent, but emotionally investing yourself into someone whom you don't even know personally can be harmful.

I feel bad for the fans who took comfort in him. I can't imagine a sexual abuse victim who took comfort in him later to realise that he was a predator. Goes to show we never really know a person, specially celebrities.

It's important to remember that celebrities are people with money and power and people with money and power are most likely extremely corrupted. The celebrities you admire are not the angels you see on camera. Never defend anyone.

As someone who rlly liked Kris Wu and was very proud that he was a fellow Canadian, I must say that I am extremely disappointed in him. Praying for the victims and my heart goes out to them.

On the bright side I think this scandal is also a wakeup call to all young fans (especially female) in China, there should be a limit to how far you are supposed to idolize your favorite stars. Getting physical and selling yourself cheap in the name of affection and worship is proven hurtful.

Me expectation to idols now : you don’t need to be a good person(or pretend to be), you just need to be civilized human abided by law.

Even if this is proven false he will NEVER live a normal life, there was reportedly even Chinese people tracking Kris Wus house trying to paint it, throw eggs at it etc. Janice Wu an old costar of his has been getting bashing hate simply for being in a drama from kris, if an old costar of his is getting that much hate then i dont think Kris is a walk in the park for his mess. No label dares to sign him, all his sponsors dropped him, numerous celebrities have unfollowed him, an Chinese actress name Shen Yue even unliked all his post. This is literally the #1 talk in China right now and is probably the talk in every friend group im China. I hope if its false he doesnt dare even come back to the Entertainment industry to take a mental health break for like FOREVER, and if its true i hope he rots in prison.

The crazy thing is that his mom is also part of his management team, and knows about all his habits and deeds, and still tried to cover it up by bribing the victims...

he always gave me weird vibes even when he was in exo... its good that he left the group years ago else the group would have gotten a bad reputation and the rest of the members would have to bare the consequences as well... i hope the rest of the members are not like him... i hope every idol fans remember this incident and dont get blinded by their idols... they mostly targer young girls and i hope no other fan have to face this... rape itself is disgusting and traumatizing but being raped by the person one idolizes is even worse...

These women were brave to come forward. Hoping their stories help others (regardless of gender/ expression of gender/ age, etc) also come forward. We can only end these crimes when we no longer support "locker room talk", harassment, and thoughts that anyone has a right to your body. When he was a member of EXO (K-pop artists group), he committed a breach of contract with his agency and run away to China. He was able to become famous in China because of his activities in Korea. But he ignored his fans and started China activity as nothing had happened. Bad people never change. He deserves it.

Kris Wu's case is only about him feeling ENTITLED. And I am disgusted that we made him feel ENTITLED. I hate myself for liking such a person.

So there's actually more to the story. Apparently there was a guy pretended to be the victim to negotiate with Kris Wu's team to ask for money, and later the same person pretended to be Kris Wu's team to talk to victim to scam her money as well. Kris Wu's mom then reported to the police as she thought the victim was blackmailing Kris, and didn't realize that was the scammer's doing. Eventually it turned backfire to Kris as police started to investigate his sexual harassment and he got arrested.

I know this is random but even when he was in Exo I never could get “close” to him and like him. I came in during their Monster phase and when I was learning the members I heard he left with the others and I low held a grudge against him since he left without saying anything and hurt his other members it just seemed very selfish to me. You know whats funny? If i would do a street inverview in my home country Germany i doubt anyone would give such reflected answers as you got here... Everyone seems to have thought a lot about the topic and knows how things are tied together. It's nice to watch such thoughtful answers.. Especially bc of this serious topic.

I appreciate that Asian Boss always tries to focus on the issues in an unbiased way. I'm so tired of seeing other media outlets trying to influence people into believing that his alleged crimes were committed because he has Canadian citizenship and is technically a 'foreigner' in China. His citizenship has nothing to do with the crimes. If he is found guilty of these crimes, it won't be because of his citizenship, it will be because he's a bad person. (Also, to be completely frank, the only thing Canadian about this man is his passport. According to his wikipedia page (so take it with a grain of salt) he was born in China as a Chinese citizen and he only lived in Canada for about 5-6 years between ages 10 and 17.)

Don't trust anyone who looks and act cute and good only on the surface don't trust stage personality nowadays people fantasise about Idols especially the kpop trend but you should not believe whatever they show you, you don't know how they are in real life...you can be their fans but don't ever engrave in your mind that your idol is worlds best person with a humble personality you don't know how they are in real life they are idol not, God they are not your friends or relative that you can blindly tell that how they are in real life and how good they are... It's totally okay to be a fan of celebrities. But it's also important to keep things rational and be willing to criticize them where necessary. I am a fan of a kpop group too, and like with almost every group there have been scandals (of course nothing as outrageous as this, if any of the people I stan were confirmed to have raped minors I would stop stanning), and I have taken to the "wait and watch". Whenever something happens I wait and see how it develops until I know more of the full picture and can form my own opinion. I don't blindly defend them nor hastily condemn them. I wait, see, and when I am absolutely sure about my own stance only then will I speak up about it. I think it's important to be open-minded to the possibility that you might have been wrong about who your favorite celebrities are as people. We don't know them. As long as you keep being aware of that and don't rush to scream "They are innocent!!!" the second a scandal comes to light it's fine to be a fan. That being said, I was never an EXO fan, but I was active enough in the kpop scene in 2012-2016 to know about them and see their peak in popularity. And even as someone who only looks at them superficially I never really liked Kris. I don't know what it was but I tend to have severe cases of antipathy with some people without being able to pin it down. Most of the time I am right about those people (of course that doesn't mean I have to be or that everyone I don't have that feeling with is automatically a good person, but I never get surprised whenever I hear something like this about one of the people I didn't like in the first place). Exo really ended up being lucky he ran back to China with this one.

At this point I don't think he is innocent, the police has arrested and detained him meaning that they have evidence against him. This is more severe compared to the accusations on celebrities.
