A cynical attempt to recycle some old footage and combine it with easy to obtain footage of trains? Yes. But here's 6 games that see you controlling or using public transport. Well trains or tube trains to be honest as I couldn't find any bus games.
Sprinter see's you driving a train in the Netherlands. Roland On The Run has you escaping by trying. Subway Vigilante and Werewolves Of London give you a taste of the London Underground. Thomas The Tank Engine and Evening Star give you steam locomotive thrills.

I was expecting "The Train: Escape to Normandy" and I got Roland on the Run instead, oh dear 😅

Evening Star is crazy impressive! A 3-D sim with *hidden line removal* is not typical, as hidden line removal for non-uniform convex objects is an NP-hard problem. Some serious skill behind that code.

My wife very much enjoyed your dutch pronunciations, she said almost as good as my attempts. She being Dutch and of course fluent, me being less so 😊

There Was also a game called The Guadian Angel where you travelled along subway subway stations, beating people up. Wasn't very good but I do remember it.

One of my favourite train games (I think c64 only ) is Suicide Express, excellent sound and fast 😀

Aligata Software, 1984. Coded by the legendary Tony Crowther, also of the pretty similar 'Black Thunder'.

If you google "c64 locomotive game" you will see that there were a HUGE number of them made over the years. "Loco" and "Optus" were two of the more playable ones.

Shhh, I'll be rumbled if anyone finds out 2 of the 6 games featured recycled footage because I was under considerable time pressure in June when I recorded this.

Entertaining and informative Video as always. I found the dutch one quite intriguing for an early train sim. I think Agent U.S.A. should have made the list. That one really challenged my geography knowledge of the U.S. as a kid and in hindsight proved to be much more science fiction regarding the real state of public transportation in the U.S.

Agent Usa, Suicide Express, Locomotion, Loco-motive, Cab Ride, Railroad Works, Ace of Aces, Train escape to Normandy, Raid the express, Kain, Tiny Toons Buster Busts loose and Rails West. All those should've gotten some mention

@@KirchenJager I believe the point was public transportation and not featuring a train per se.

hmmm... In that case what about Space Taxi or The Honeymooners? Or that one sci fi fight game where your beating up people on escalator sidewalks? All we got are train games.🙄@@meantime2001

Sprinter/The Train Game was a fun game. For your information, Eaglesoft was the international name used by Aackosoft. I loved it when you tried to pronounce my mother language. I enjoy your videos.

Some will say that you are stretching the concept of public transport a weeeeee bit too thin but they just don't get it. My favorite public transport simulators are definitely Final Fight for the modern age and Golden Axe for the medieval fantasy one, I mean where else do we get the chance to ride on a giant turtle or eagle? Nowhere! 😋 Thanks for the video Chinny!

I was thinking, he not going to include the bloody awful Thomas game is he... oh yes, yes he is 😂 Sprinter reminded me of a recent Timberwolf video on train Sims, sounded like you were getting quite into it! especially like the look of the CPC warewolf game, never heard of it before.

Niet (tijdig) geremd! -> You didn't brake in time! How could you Chinny!... those poor Dutch little computer people missed their train! 🤣Even for a native speaker, some of the instructions seem rather technical... Would probably help if you had a license to drive a train in real life. Interesting looking game nevertheless.
@chinnyvision
@chinnyvision 9 месяцев назад
The glimpse at the instructions via Google translate indeed made the game sound quite technical.

@@chinnyvision Dutch company Radarsoft also liked to do "serious" games about real world stuff, like traffic control and topography. Their game Traffix (originally "Verkeersrally") is probably one of the earliest edutainment games about, well, the rules of traffic, who gets to go first etc. I believe the English version leaves the word we use for gas station untranslated as "tankstation".
