16 Bit Programmer(s): "We're gonna need a bigger boot (sector)." This game wants to be Cybernoid-by-Sea on the 16 bits and a less colourful Starquake on the 8 bits. Well, maybe it doesn't want to be, but it is.
Yeah, I get what you're saying. Wouldn't earning money by avoiding jaws to buy a bigger boat or weapons have been a better idea than trying to shoehorn it into something else? like chinny alluded to - , its 14 years. You can't say you haven't seen the film! lol
I suspected that the Medway Boys cut the intro from the ST version to fit it on a disk with another game (which often happened) and a quick check confirmed this. No, this fact doesn't make the game any better on any of the formats, especially the ST, but there always has to be some irritating pedant posting these sort of comments on a youtube video so I figured it may as well be me. Thanks for playing this so we won't have to.
For a split second i genuinely thought you'd inserted footage of Sabrewulf by mistake so totally get where you're coming from on that. Also the bullets indicator on the Speccy makes the bullets look a bit like bellends on micropeens. Thanks for the vid.
Amstrad and the Commy sound a bit like waves splashing, sort of, underwater... the Amiga perv soundtrack and intro is reason enough to play the game perhaps once. Sinclair User gave this 88%? They must've received a nice complimentary bottle of the finest whisky with their free copy of the game then.
I thought Screen 7 was one of Martech's sub-labels - although Martech closed down shortly after Screen 7 was launched and perhaps Alternative Software bought the rights to the games and the brand.
They just never could do the film justice, in any of the games. Had the much later PS2 game, by creators of Ecco The Dolphin, terrible camera system ruined that. Missed this one as both a C64 and ST owner, so very interesting to see you cover it appreciated.
Someone clearly liked the look of Cybernoid and went "oh let's do a game on that" so it's more Cybernoid-under-the-Sea rather than Jaws. The tenuous link is an understatement. Even the title tune on the C64 doesn't use the SID chip that well. Wasted opportunity (understatement)
There seems to be two versions of this on Amstrad. One with the boat ( like the C64 and Spectrum ) and this one without. There are screenshots and at one point a YT video
Possibly a disc version as it could load the boat off disc each time. That said I thought I was running the disc version as it was a disc image. And I nearly always use a 6128.
@@robsmall6466 That's where my copy would have come from. All my CPC downloads do and the channel chucks the site a few quid when it can. So I assume the site has both versions. I would have gone for the crack.
