Lol my chinchilla loves cuddles. When he comes out of his cage, the first thing he does is runs in between my legs & we just sit there for a couple minutes. Then each night before I go to bed, he sits at the edge of his cage and I’ll hold him for a few minutes (until he’s over it) but then he’ll nuzzle himself against my stomach for some massages lol He also loves my brother in law and is totally chill when he picks him up
I got my chinchilla from a PetSmart, and the employee who helped me and my husband get him (ugh) boxed up told us how much he had been enjoying strawberry yogurt treats in their care. "How cool!" we thought bc we still had some from when we owned our dwarf hamster (r.i.p 🥺). But the slightest bit of research informed me how bad those kinds of treats are for chins! Then, very shortly after (within 36 hours) we got our chin, Nosfüratu, settled at home, I discovered your channel where you give such good and caring advice for all chin owners (but especially helpful for a first time owner). It's been such a big help and blessing. I do still mostly shop at PetSmart, but I am much more careful about what I select bc of you and, indeed, bc (as can be seen above in this comment alone) pet store employees are not always correct nor informed, and not veterinarians.
I definitely recommend the oxbow play table, it is more expensive than it should be. However mine destroyed it and they love it so much, as well as they use it as a hut to.
PSA those little pineapple huts that they sell for birds are actually dangerous to birds because they promote nesting behavior and can cause cloacal prolapse. The birds can also ingest the material which can cause intestinal blockages.
oxbow garden select... don’t buy it, I did research on it, it contains some veggie or fruit inside that is not safe for them (I forgot what exactly it is, but it’s not safe for chinchilla anyway
I have two chinchillas and one is shy one doesn’t mind me. The shy one doesn’t like being picked up and the extroverted one doesn’t really care. However, both of them do not seem to like any tickles or scratches. They will let me stroke their head and back but nowhere else.
My son LOVES the dried strawberries. If you ever get them put them in a box or ziplock because if they’re left open humidity will get into them and they’ll stick together and get soggy. I highly recommend them
I love your video, I just wanted to put a few things out there; with hamsters, a Syrian and teddy bear is the same breed, as well with the oxbow food if your friend does end up buying a hamster oxbow is not the best for hamsters due to the fact that it does not have all the necessary ingredients and in some cases can cause a hamster to be malnourished if that's the only food they are feed. (it's a great brand for all other species with the exception of mice, rats, and gerbils) I love that you do your research!
We actually did a LOT of research into hamsters from notable sources so we know about their care, it’s a lotta fun researching. It’s just the breeds that we don’t know 😂 But yes, I hope she can get a hamster soon!
@@TheChinchillaNotebookI'm so happy to hear that, it's rare for people to actually look into pet care thoroughly and even enjoy it like you do:) Your chinchillas are the luckiest guys in the world, good job!
My chinchilla hated the Garden Select 😭 we started him off with that but he would always leave half crumbs. We switched to the red bag and he LOVES it. Never leaves a thing! It’s always my go to
Hi! I loveeee your videos! I've been binge watching them for a while now. I have wanted to get a chinchilla for a while and watching your videos makes me want to buy one even more!
I work for petsmart and at least at my store we take extra care of all our babies. I even bought my chinchilla from there. To each there on on their opinion.
PetSmart is my local and after we got chinchi they didn’t have any chins or guins and apparently a chin had an eye infection so they haven’t been selling
Hello! Just a quick comment the third store had kind of bad treated pets the wheels to small for the hamster (causes back pain) and rabbits are indoor animals and they should not be kept in cages, or outdoors they can die very easily outdoors
Hi! I am a new chinchilla owner well soon I will be picking her up next week anyways I was wondering for their water bottle on the cage is it bad if it has metal on it? Thank you also I loved the video!
Basically my opinion is to support the good products they have not the bad ones. It may knock some sense into good and bad for them both and on the pets idk... like on one hand you’re saving them from a store that doesn’t really care and on the other is that you’re supporting them. It’s honestly mixed opinion for me
My chin doesnt have front teeth (removed before I got him) so he didnt do well on the oxbow food, the pellets were too big for him. He eats the kayte food. But, he is super friendly and falls asleep in my arms when I pick him up lol. He is such a good boy!
@@TheChinchillaNotebook You definitely should, I saw change in her behavior, she is so much more active and happy! Its so weird how something like changing her food has such an effect.
Syrians and teddy bear hamsters are the same. They use the name to imply it’s a good pet for all ages when I recommend pets 12+ and chins for like 14-15+ it depends on maturity and I put 14 since that’s my age but I’d go for that age if it was my kid of the kid and I hate how they call them teddy bear hamsters. It makes kids and parents think it’s an easy pet to take care of that will cuddle like a teddy. It’s honestly horrible imo.
I would totally go for it! Just do a lot of research and get a good cage. Like a Ferret nation or Feisty ferret. Bigger the better! And you dont have to get two. I have two but they arent bonded and theyre just fine.
I'm clearly shocked how the pet enclosures look like, in England we've got a lot of better pet shops than in the usa, I'm clearly shocked why people keep them in small enclosures, it's literally a cage
Next time, can you also show the chinchillas at the store too. I really liked the video, please check out the chinchilla video on my channel.. she is really cute.
Can I like dm her on Instagram with questions? I'm thinking about asking for a chinchilla for Christmas, my mom said as long as I do my research. I have some cages lined up and stuff but it's all coming out to be really expensive and I wanna get in contact with like a chinchilla pro and ask them about a bunch of stuff. If anyone knows if she's open to dms or if someone can talk to me lmk, please.
Please never buy any exercise balls for any rodent. They can overheat easily and it can maybe cause a heat stroke. Exercise ball's are really dangerous and I will never recommend anyone to buy one.
