I can't believe that the "left behind feature" is missing. Am I the only one who thinks being informed in the moment I lose something is way more important, than being able to track a device when I noticed the missing hours later? Lost my purse latley (without any tracking device). But according to credit card usage, the purse was found several hours later. So the tracking feature might have helped or not to find the thief, but the left behind feature would have prevented the losing of my purse in the first place.

I noticed Mishaal Rahman said on Android Faithful podcast that in his early testing, the radius for the device locating was very wide and not really useful because of that early stage network/limitations on participating devices you also mentioned. Will be curious to see what results you get in your testing.

We should expect a longer period getting this up to the same accuracy as Apple's network. Apple opts everyone in, and makes it painful to leave their network. Apple also doesn't require the same kind of re-authentication, nor do they offer the levels of participation Google does. I'm already getting hits in high traffic areas that would help find devices with more accuracy, and even when the results are broad, you'd be close enough to do "hot and cold" with just the bluetooth radio. At least decently close enough to get it to play a sound. And I live out in the suburbs. If folks want this kind of functionality to improve, they have to participate. Waiting for it to get better is counterproductive.

Yeesh. I'm honestly kinda surprised Tile's parent company isn't trying to mount some kind of anti-competition lawsuit against google and apple. They seem pretty scummy with user data though, so I don't know what i'm rooting for there...

these don't have UWB, motorola has one coming soon with UWB (no exact release date yet)

I tried the Chipolo... Doesn't work on the Google Find My Network. I never got an location update, and i did hide it in a very busy shopping mall

1 make sure you got the android version. 2 the default settings Google chose are ....stupid they got so much gruff they said they're gonna improve it

The sad part about the whole Google find my thing is that my old Chipolos aren't compatible with it and I will have to buy new ones. 😕 I was hoping that adding them to GFM will be possible at least with limited functionality.

That’s what happens when the marketing team gets involved. Engineering: Provides a set of instructions with the unit. Marketing: You know, QR codes are all cool. What if we gave the users a QR code that takes them to our site with the instructions!👍🤣🤣🤣

Wait, I thought these worked with UWB, now I'm realizing they only work with bluetooth, that's, I mean, I get it, almost no one is adopting UWB sadly but then, how accurate are these? and I guess it means for the network to work Bluetooth has to be turned on for the tracker to be detected? that's again, kind of disappointing but I guess I get it. This makes me skeptical about their capabilities, so I'll be looking forward for your full review.

It's the same with Apple Airtag, to be honest, until you approches at few meters away. Until then it's via Bluetooth LE that te tags are being tracked by the network of Apple devices around (and yes, they have to keep Bluetooth on, as iOS basically forces you to keep your BT on even if you disable it, for this exact reason). When you really approches the tag, AirTags shines with their UWB signal which directs you with an arrow. But that's the only added value, only at close distance. Other than that, Google and Apple relies heavily on Bluetooth, yeah.

They are detected by the iphone unwanted tracker detection, but you can't setup one tracker to be used on both networks.

Thanks for quick answer. My first question was thinking that air tags send location when another apê device is nearby. This sends location when apple and android devices are nearby? If so, then google has more chances for the position to be updated faster. Is that correct?
