It was a beautiful town back in the 30s 40s and 50s, there was a huge plane tree down at the old mill. a fantastic old bridge. millers cottages there also. but the town council insisted on putting the new bridge where the the old one was. further downstream. west of the isle of Rea would have been a better place, council had the whole lot knocked down making way for concrete shops etc. with the mill cottages and old bridge it was chocolate top box very photogenic on par with Castle combe . I wrote to the planners at the time. No reply. Shame would be huge tourist attraction now, so pretty.
chippenham is a great place, quite a lot of shops for its size, which is good, emery gate shopping centre, is a must, try a coffee at FHC, in the middle of the centre, and this is a must, the famous YMCA shop, the staff in there are nice and have a good sense of humour, some of the shops in emery gate were going to close, thats true, but they changed their minds and stayed open, which makes it a great place,

High street is rubbish, all of the shops are closing down, the old college is now derelict, and they’re just about to demolish the courts, the beautiful nature of Birds Marsh an old historic area, has been destroyed, the local council gave developers permission to build 1,500 houses on it. The town was beautiful once, unfortunately it’s being slowly decimated and destroyed
I think English is not your first language, so offer helpful hints with pronunciation. Berks is pronounced Barks, quay is pronounced key. It is the Beeching Axe.
anotherblonde For the record, that’s not my voice and the reason it isn’t is because I knew the voice over I choose would do a much better job than myself (and that he did!) a lot of people have different ways of pronouncing words, you really would go as far as to say English isn’t his first language? He’s very well spoken I think but maybe that’s just me. Anyway, all feedback is welcome so thank you for bringing this to my attention, not much can be done about it at this point though unfortunately. I would say in his defence he had a lot to read in a short period of time though.
Fuck off Chippenham isn’t even a bad town. One of the better ones in Wiltshire. Swindon is the worst. Calne is pretty shit. Trowbridge is pretty grim. Loads worse than chip
