I would just like to add that although Benadryl is generally safe, it's not the optimal medication for coping with anxiety and panic attacks. I'm proof that meds in that class can actually trigger a panic attack when you take them, either initially or even after days of consecutive use. Good professionals will give you guidance to help you find the right solutions, whether they include medication or not. Love ya!

I can relate. A trigger for my anxiousness is too much coffee. And maybe the strong coffee you’ve been having lately is affecting your anxiety too. Try skipping it and see if you feel any different. My 2 cents. Xoxoxo

And this is why you don't need a truth video. You are always truthful. My daughter lost her cousin/best friend last year and it really brought out her anxiety. She still has hard times but it has been easier with counseling. You have to put your self first and you have recognized that which is sometimes the hardest to do. I hope you get what you need. I adore your channel and how hard you work. Congrats on 1yr!! 💜 💜

So sorry you are dealing with anxiety and panic attacks. I have just started getting anxiety/ panick attacks as well. I have been told that I internalize my stress! I am the same way in that I am always bubbly and rarely let stress get to me. For the longest time I would get chest pains and get this feeling of not being able to breathe, to the point I thought I was going to pass out and thought I was literally having heart issues!! Turns out its anxiety. Just know that you aren't alone!! I think it is so important to share that side of yourself to others on and off of youtube! You are so sweet and strong!! You got this girl!! I am LOVING all the FALL stuff btw!!

I'm a therapist, and many of my clients deal with anxiety. Ask your therapist for grounding techniques. This will help you reorient to the space and help you feel more grounded. Distraction techniques are great as well. Also, I always tell my clients to pause for a second and do a body scan. This can help give you more insight into how your body is responding to the anxiety and also provide a distraction. There are others out there as well; such as finding something in the space and pointing out specific details about it to yourself (color, shape, texture, what you think it smells like, etc...) I could go on and on, but I'll leave it at this...In summary. Grounding and distraction techniques. Also figuring out if there are any specific triggers and how to mentally prepare if you know you're going to encounter that trigger.

My uncle taught me this technique whenever I feel like I’m having a panic attack or feel the anxiety coming on too strong. Close one nostril breathe in, switch sides and breathe out and then breath back in with the nostril you breathed out of and just keep that rhythm. It helps you even out your breathing while getting your mind occupied with something other than the shitty thoughts that come with anxiety like dying or the world ending. I seriously convinced myself my tongue was swelling and I couldn’t breathe and it happened out of no where.
@Jessa8891
@Jessa8891 5 лет назад
Amyekira Turner, I was told that too but it doesn’t work for me. When I have panic attacks it’s hard to breathe and I have pain/pressure on my diaphragm. It made it really feel like I was suffocating!
@MossyOakPrincess7
@MossyOakPrincess7 5 лет назад
I do the senses. Something you can touch, see, smell, hear. It helps to keep my mind off of my breathing. I convince myself all the time my tongue is swelling. I hate it! I remember my first panic attack, and I wish I could rewind back to before that time. Panic attacks suck. 😔

Could I just say Casey and ANYONE reading this: asking for help is okay!! Don’t be afraid to ask for help; I am diagnosed with severe anxiety depression and my anxiety was so bad, like the panic attacks and everything, talking to someone helps with the feeling of emptiness and the shutting down feeling!! Thank you for this. I was also diagnosed with stress and anxiety. I have panic attacks all the time. Even if I was happy and doing something fun, I would still get tightening in my chest. Apparently the stress is always there. I agree that it's okay to ask for help and talk to someone. I'm sending good vibes and prayers for anyone dealing with this.

Karen Elizabeth i read what you wrote.. and me myself i go to a couple of specialists for other things and they never help me with figuring out this anxiety depression? I honestly just try to not think about being depressed.. and that right their is what makes me feel anxiety and pains to where im keeping that to myself for a long time..
@kayceecee-
@kayceecee- 5 лет назад
Jaci Cavazos So I actually did a combination of things. I go to a psychiatrist only (now). I had two suicide attempts last year alone, after the second attempt I got my psychiatrist, therapist, and I started doing guided meditations. I started focusing on myself and actually taking care of myself. Started working out and eating healthy (have lost 100lbs in a year) and I feel great. The depression is still there along with the anxiety, but I know that I have all the tools to properly pull myself out of these dark places. I’m not trying to tell anyone that it’s easy; sometimes I feel like I’m slipping back, but it is doable!! I got tiered of letting my life be ran by depression and anxiety and I chose to do something about it myself, I sought help, and I think that’s what helps the most: it’s wanting it for yourself!! Good luck on your journey!! Much love and positivity your way!!

Thank you for being so vulnerable, open, and real with us. I too deal with anxiety and panic attacks, and it's absolutely draining on the body. If someone has never experienced it, it's really hard to understand the "fear" we feel when going through it. I'm so sorry you're going through that but I'm so glad you're going to get help. I support you so much and totally understand if you don't get content up when you want. Take care of yourself, your true followers will stand by you through it. Your look turned out stunning as always! That foundation looks beautiful. Stay strong, Casey!

My son had panic attacks and I knew it but couldn’t get him to even see it could be that. Here’s what I taught him to “ground” himself. Being mindful is one of the best ways to control feelings of anxiety and panic. Through mindfulness, you can train your mind to focus and detach itself from thoughts and feelings. One of the most effective mindfulness techniques is to focus on your five senses. Here is an exercise that can help you focus and practice mindfulness: List at least five things you can see. Describe them in as much detail as possible. List at least four things you can hear. Describe the qualities of those sounds. List at least three things you can smell. Try touching the textures around you. Whether it be a carpeted floor, a tiled counter or the damp grass outside. Describe the sense of touching those objects. This exercise forces you to zone on the details all around you, right now. When you shift your thoughts from your mental state to the environment around you, it creates distance from thinking patterns that would otherwise push you further into a state of panic. I hope this helps you sweet girl. Thinking about you. ❤️

Thank you so much for speaking out about your anxiety. It takes courage to do that, but it helps me and other people who suffer from it to not feel alone. You are not alone, Casey. It took me a while to open up about my struggles. I am now medicated and doing SO much better. Don’t be ashamed of medication(if that is what will work for you) or of talking about mental illness. Let’s end the stigma surrounding it. ❤️❤️❤️ Also, this makeup look is BOMB. It has inspired me to live my best fall makeup life.

I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder about 8 years ago. It’s basically what you described, it comes out of nowhere. I just wanna say that when you say it probably doesn’t make any sense to us I felt that. I feel like I’m going crazy when I have my moments. And honestly there aren’t words to describe how you’re feeling and why. But please stick with whatever your doctor tells you. I went to therapy for a while and thought I could do it on my own and I basically didn’t leave my house for months. Don’t let your anxiety take control of your life 💕 but anyway, love you and your makeup and everything about this video. I wish it would be fall in Florida 😫😫

I’m so appreciative of people like you who aren’t afraid or too proud to admit when things aren’t quite right in their life. Life is such a journey. Sometimes we can’t reach a place that we truly love without slowly realizing and understanding certain things as they come together through life experiences and the passing of time.

Anxiety isn’t just chest pains, crying, and the inability to relax. It’s biting your nails until they bleed, then picking off the skin on your fingers once you’re out of nails to bite. It’s driving to the store only to sit in the parking lot for 20 minutes before turning back around, without even going inside. It’s getting a text message and forgetting to respond promptly, so instead of responding explaining you were busy, you leave the notification there for days, weeks, even months, getting a knot in your stomach every time you scroll past it or every time that person’s name comes up. It’s hearing a noise and planning in your mind where you’ll hide, what doors you’ll lock, and how you’ll secretly call for help if someone broke into your house. It’s asking your partner several times a day if they love you, partially kidding, but mostly needing to hear it because you find it so hard to love yourself in that moment. It’s putting off washing the dishes until there’s no dishes left, but then feeling overwhelmed by how many dishes there are to wash, so you just leave them another day. It’s understanding that what you’re worrying about is often irrational and not as extreme as your reaction warrants, but not being able to control your response. Often times, it even means you CAN’T understand that what you’re worrying about is irrational or not as extreme as your reaction warrants. Anxiety isn’t just chest pains, crying, and the inability to relax. It’s taking everyday parts of life and intensifying the excitement or fear they result in times a thousand, to the point that they seem impossible to face. Some days are more manageable than others, and it’s on those days I try to remind myself that I CAN get through whatever anxiety throws my way. It’s hard for me to share this and a little embarrassing to include this picture, but if even one person finds comfort in knowing they’re not alone in this, then I’m going to push past my comfort zones to do that. #MentalHealthAwareness

Kaitelynn Hale - That actually describes DEPRESSION with ANXIETY!!! I've suffered with it for years and I have done (do) all of those things, except the nail biting. I could add a whole list of other things that I do, and you might also do (everyone is different), like only going to Walmart at 2am because you can't deal with crowds...and that's IF I can make myself leave the house at all. You aren't alone, either! Thanks to a a recent adjustment in my medication I'm a little better now (after being on medication for 21 years - I'm 50). BIG HUGS SWEETIE!!! 🤗🤗🤗

I had panic attacks from the ages of 16-17 and then 22-25 and I was never on medication because I realized that once I stopped fighting it, it stopped. In other words ,once the horrible feelings began , I would say ok here we go bring it and I told myself that if I passed out I’ll wake up, so I said ok body hit me with your best shot and low and behold, It started to leave me. I am 34 and haven’t had a panic attack since I was 25 because once I learned mind over matter, I was able to control it. Sometimes I would even jump up and down or run in place when I couldn’t even breathe because Really what you’re trying to control is the adrenaline. Your body wants to fight or flight but doesn’t have anything to do with it ,so if you can counter that, it goes😀I hope all goes well for you too because it truly is a horrible and frightening feeling-in the beginning I couldn’t even breathe, so I do understand how you feel -I know everything will be wonderful in the end with you being so proactive😊😍and THANK YOU for bringing the Fall!

I agree completely with caffeine and anxiety. I had to quit eating everything including chocolate, coffee, and tea. I still suffer but no where as bad as it was prior. I even went to several specialist thinking I had stomach or heart problems because of anxiety. Everyone’s anxiety is effects them differently. Glad your getting help!

As a fellow nurse, I totally agree!! I still get panic attacks but they are not as frequent as when I was drinking caffeine. I have the same food fears as Casey and carry benadryl and an epi pen, more for comfort but I do have nut allergies. Honestly, for me, being a nurse does not help the anxiety. I work in oncology where every sore throat turned out to be esophageal cancer and every abdominal pain was pancreatic cancer. Sometimes you just know/see too much!

I completely agree! I went fully decaf for a health reason unrelated to anxiety but I’ve definitely noticed that I’m more relaxed and less jittery throughout the day of course, but I also don’t get as many headaches and I feel more awake throughout the day WITHOUT caffeine! I think it’s because our body becomes so dependent on caffeine that when we don’t have it, we feel horrible. Plus decaf options are everywhere and that makes it an easier switch 🤗

That is 100% a panic attack. If you have feelings of impending doom like you might be dying that is a more severe panic attack. I’ve always had moderate ones and had a severe one that lasted two hours and it was induced by a medical condition. I was dehydrated even though I drink a gallon a day. Just make sure your aren’t dehydrated or get blood work done to make sure nothing medical is causing it. Panic attacks are no joke . Some of them are so crippling that you can’t function or process any incoming information. Good luck girl! Spend more time on yourself and relaxation exercises and you’ll get through it!

My anxiety peaked astronomically and it turned out to be a treatable medical condition. Casey you should get a check up from your primary care physician to make sure it's nothing health related.

I agree! I literally almost died because I wasn't getting blood to my head. Even though I drink a gallon of water a day my daily coffee and sometimes preworkout was enough caffeine to dehydrate me. It definitely was the scariest thing I've ever experienced. I experience panic attacks but know what they are and they go away but the SEVERE one literally felt like I was dying and like I was crazy (racing thoughts etc). Good Luck Casey!

Casey, you are only one person and you are a major Boss Lady. You have so many things you are making happen for yourself and that is awesome. Something to learn before you turn 30 is the power of "NO", having healthy boundaries and practicing self care. When we bite off more than we can handle when we're young it can manifest and take its toll on us as anxiety and panic attacks. If you don't already say No, have boundaries, and practice self care (whatever that looks like for you) then please start doing so. I am 40 and finally learning these things myself and see where I should've started in my 20s to practice self care, have healthy boundaries with people and things and to say no and that saying no is ok. Kudos to you for taking the steps needed to take care of yourself, that alone is major self care!

Lucky you, 3rd session and you feel a difference. WOW! I too have started acupuncture and I've done technically four sessions but I'm with the same doctor and I only did two sessions with him. And unfortunately I have a lot of autoimmune diseases in my body so he did he made me aware that it will take some time before I even feel a small Improvement in my body. And I'm going twice a week. And Hallelujah my health insurance is covering for it. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford it. But congratulations that it's helping for you already.

@@Parmsi Thanks doll! Appreciate the encouragement. My acupuncture doctor has been doing cupping on my back and it leaves his these red marks on my back like for like 2 or 3 days but it doesn't really hurt me too much. I prefer the cupping on my back versus the needles on my back. I'm such a baby when it comes to needles in general but I'm so grateful like unbelievably grateful that I have such a compassionate, sensitive guy as acupuncture dr. He's been doing this for like 40 years. And he's just wonderful. He gives me deep tissue massages afterwards it's like I'm in another world. Each session for me is 2 hours because he has to treat my order immune diseases aggressively, because I've had them for so many!! Years

Anxiety is a terrible thing! I suffer every single day with anxiety and disassociation. Some days are good and some days are rough. I find that keeping myself on a strict schedule helps! Getting the right amount of sleep, eating the same times everyday, and keeping your day as calm as possible. I also hate to say this because I love love love coffee but caffeine is a major trigger. Caffeine definitely doesn’t help anxiety! So I drink decaf. But you’re strong so just keep your head up and try not to think too much on it because the more you obsess the more anxious you will be. Loveee you! ❤️

No coffee and no alcohol. Alcohol is awful! Initially it helps calm you and keeps your anxiety at bay but when the alcohol wears off the anxiety is twice as bad. I learned this the hard way. I still drink ONE cup of coffee in the mornings but have had to stop drinking alcohol completely. It’s just not worth it. My first panic attack was not until I was 25 and I had some major life changes. Last year you got married, made a major move away from family and friends and started your boutique. All major life events. Be kind to yourself. ❤️

You’re wiser than your years Casey. Love you for that. Stay real girl. Ive not been diagnosed either but since secondary school, and having to speak publicly for projects and stuff.. it set it off.. it’s bothered me ever since, and Came back when I went back to university.. to the point I have to go to the lecturers one to one and beg them not to make me speak or give a presentation. Ill never be able to do it, and it’s not like I haven’t tried (for me it doesn’t get easier the more I do it), so I just try to not put myself in those anxiety-ridden situations .. anyway this is long winded but don’t be afraid to speak about your problems with us. My anxiety got so bad and I had no idea what was triggering it when I was in university and then realized I was drinking 2-3 cups of coffee a day and then the stress and anxiety of school hit me hard. I naturally have social anxiety and the mix of everything together got to the point where I started experiencing hair loss and frequent heart palpitations that made my anxiety worse. I’ve been on decaf ever since and still trying to recover my hair now 8 months later. Be careful with your caffeine intake with anxiety!!
