@Mr. Emerald The Green I think I saw something where Harvey Fierstein begged Robin Williams to be in this role, because he knew that Robin needed a gay brother.
I like to imagine that the writers said to Robin: “how do you feel about dressing up as a woman?” and he replied with “… make it four and you got a deal” 😂
thats what family members used to do for eachother before the world went to shit. but now, welcome to Desantis World - where you will fucking conform to everything we tell you to do, and do it EXACTLY when we say. thats what freedom is all about folks! none of that commy bastard shit. also fuck abortions cuz a minority of us have archaic religious beliefs that conflict. also, fuck the separation of church and state, blend those MFers together.
@@paulac.munoztorres Mam, They should make a gender swap reboot of Mrs Doubtfire. In that movie the actress should take up the disguise of an old man as the central theme. With a good prosthetic makeup and a nice story it will be a big hit. Please share your thoughts on the same and the actress you believe can play this role.
“Older? You mean like Shelly Winters older or Shirley McClane older?” “What’s the difference” “Some scotch tape and some red hair dye.” “What about Joan Collins?” “Oh I don’t think I have the strength.”
How Frank knew he was going need an extra mask to give to Daniel is beyond me. Maybe he knew his brother was going to mess the first one up and kept a spare on hand.
I always thought that Daniel called him ahead of time and said he messed up the first one, and Frank just cast a new latex one so it'd be ready when he got there.
@@clintonmeyers7267 Yes that's true and he (Frank) could probably make millions of those masks if he wanted and probably there were a box full of them at the door and when he handed another one to Daniel, he picked one out of the box.
@@TheFanboy19 I didn't fully understand that one until I was grown. lol I knew what a mohel was, so I laughed...knowing he was eating foreskin ewwww! But couldn't understand what Robin had said before till now: 'gribenes'.
@@davidwallgren7575 they are absolutely a couple lol. They live together and it's super obvious they are a couple in the beginning when Frank is in the phone with their mother
"I knew you'd understand" Of course he does! He was the original Edna in the Broadway musical 'Hairspray' (and SO much better than John Travolta's version).
I like the fact that his brother has his back...he comes to his door asking him to make him a Woman...he doesn't ask questions he just helps him out because he's his brother...
0:55 - Daniel: "I hope you're using jungle red cause that is the only color I love." Jack: "It matches your lips." Daniel: "God bless U." Together 1:40 - "Matchmaker matchmaker, make me a match. Find me a fine, catch me a catch."
One thing i love about this scene is that everytime he transforms, he had a random dialogue or monologue ❤️❤️❤️, only the great Robin Williams can do ❤️❤️
“It’s not working, we need to go older” “Older?? You mean Like Shelley Winters older or Shirley MacLaine older??” “What’s the difference??” “Some scotch tape and red hair dye”😂😂😂
I’m so happy my recommendation didn’t fail me today. I love watching Mrs.Doubtfire back then as well as watching movies with Robin Williams. I didn’t even know he died back then only found out when I became a teenager which was many years passed his death. He will forever be missed...
Also, fun fact. Luck Be A Lady Tonight is from the musical Guys and Dolls. I was a Tourist, a Mission Doll with Cymbals, and a Gambler. It was an absolute blast to perform in the show. Being autistic I had my moments though but it was so much fun and I made a lot of friends that I am still friends with today. My favorite actor, Tom Hiddleston, was in Guys and Dolls as well, in the Havana fight scene.
I'm a strong believer that showing gay people in roles like this where they are clearly gay but otherwise normal average people who are there for their families has had more positive impact than any negative energy protest. Fav line: "The man has 5 o'clock shadow at 8:30 AM and you're worried about the strings?"
They're not normal average people, though. Normal, average people don't help their brother violate restraining orders to break into their ex wife's home.
You know Harvey Fierstein was the voice of Yao in Disney's Mulan. I thought it would be funny since Robin Williams was of coarse the Genie in Disney's Aladdin, someone ought to do a crossover with Yao and Genie doing this scene like the video where Timon and Genie are in The Birdcage!
I beilieve Harvey said that they did the scenes once as scripted then the director let them all cut loose. A lot of, if not most of the scenes here were improvised. Including the "I'm so happy!" part in the beginning.
A similar situation happened on the set of The Birdcage, the director asked Robin and Nathan Lane to do each scene as scripted just once and every other take they were allowed to go off script to their heart's content
Fun fact - Robin actually is NOT wearing the makeup/mask, which is why he is filmed with his back turned to the camera. This was done deliberate as the producer did not want Robin's "Mrs Doubtfire" character to be shown too fast which is why you only see the top part of the mask when Robin puts the glasses on.
This would be better if the sound and the video were in sync- they’re just mismatched enough to be annoying. Otherwise, it’s great to see the whole segment uncut!
I'm sure if she did see it she would have been flattered and busted out laughing, I do know Julia Childs who has a cameo scene in Mrs Doubtfire where she explains the process of boiling lobsters in a pot saw Dan Aykroyds impersonation of her in the SNL sketch The French Chef with the turkey and giblets accidentally cutting off her thumb with the knife and bleeding profusely sent her into a laughing phase she liked it so much that she actually included the segment in one of her cooking episodes because of the way he sounded so much like her and copied her mannerisms so well. So yeah I'm sure if she saw this scene she would have loved it 😊
"Luck Be a Lady" by Frank Sinatra. They tried other songs for that montage like "She's a Lady" by Tom Jones, "Hot Legs" by Rod Stewart, and "Puttin' on the Ritz" by Judy Garland and several others, pretty much anything with the word lady or woman in it. Wonder if they tried "More than a Woman" by the Bee Gees. 😅
