Not coke. Booze and no sleep. Working 60+ hours a week. In the 90s in Japan you basically stayed at the office all day than went drinking with your coworkers than worked another 12+ hours the next day.
It’s was 1995…. Maybe the devs didn’t know how to do the hardware transparency? Dithering wouldave been easier, cause it’s all software. And Saturn does have hardware transparencies but sega refused to share the sgl libraries that had it. Only a small number of mostly sega made games used it.
What did I just watch? This is the most weirdest game I have ever seen in both Sega Saturn and Playstation. I remember, there is also a weirdest game in Super Nintendo. That is a "Hong Kong '97" 🤣🤣🤣
Stage 1: The Saturn version is missing foreground buildings found in the Playstation version. Stage 2: The floor line scrolling is different among the versions. More "Pose Columns" and background cloud lightning in Saturn's Background. Stage 3: The Saturn version features a metal ground platform missing in the Playstation version. But the Saturn version is missing background elements. Stage 4: Descending into the cave on the Playstation version has smoother vertical scrolling. Also the frog snail's tounge looks more realistic. Stage 5: The Saturn version has wave animations missing in the Playstation version.
I cannot tell for sure, but just lookign at this, i would guess that the Saturn is displaying 320x224 and the Playstation at 320x240. But i´m not sure.
Eu literalmente tinha esse jogo no meu Saturn... Quando comprei o meu ja tinha PS2 então paguei bem baratinho no meu Saturn com uma PORRADA de jogos... E esse era um deles... E eu terminei varias vezes saporra... Jogava so pela zuera mesmo... Mas que dei varias risadas isso eu dei!!
Because the 1st game on the PC Engine sold well enough to warrant a sequel. 😂 There's also a fighting game spin off on the Super Famicom and another sequel on the PS2
Believe it or not, it is a very fun Shoot em Up and if you play it with another person even more, there will be no shortage of laughs and it is quite demanding in its progression
It seems the Saturn version was released on 1996 and the Playstation version was 1995, so i think they decided to add extra stuff to the Saturn version. Also, sometimes the Saturn is missing some background layers from the Playstation, just look at stage 5, and other times the Saturn version has more background layers, so it seems very inconsistent.
@@jsr734 I doubt that's the reason for all the changes. The Saturn was known to be better at 2D than PlayStation hence all of it's more advanced effects. This was seen in a lot of multiplatform games between the two
@@crestofhonor2349 then, why the Saturn is missing some background layers in some stages and some other details? It seems the developers were just trying to add some improvements while missing others just to have the game finished quickly. Also, lots of the added effects like the line scrolling can also be done on Playstation.
Odd game, not sure mesh transparency was needed with the Saturn version. Other than that, about a draw, nothing really impressed me or stood out about this title.
If you use the two Saturn VDPs it would not be necessary to make the transparency by mesh, since with the VDP2 you can make the real transparency, now as for PlayStarion there are textures that cannot be given transparency of any kind if they are not mounted on a polygons, so in the end it depends a lot on how the game is put together, PlayStation may lose all types of transparency, and Saturn will be limited to mesh or real transparency.
Why did they have to make that game that? Can’t get over how ugly they look. Why couldn’t they just make sprites from the ground up? Easily the most disappointing horizontal shooter on a 5th generation console. Maybe we were glad this didn’t come out in the west.
