Recommend you get a kitchen scale. An inexpensive addition to making your measurements exact. I picked up baking because I couldn't get quality baked goods in the stores. They all have chemicals so I started baking my own using organic ingredients. I quickly found the only way to maintain consistency is to use a scale especially when using flour.
I made this cake on Saturday to serve on Sunday. I have to say that this is probably the best cake I have ever made and I'm 71 years old! Thank you so much for all of the helpful hints. I tried to follow everything you mentioned. I'm so old that I had to take Home Economics when in school, but they didn't teach me half of what I've learned from you (such as eggs and milk at room temperature if used). My daughter in law said that the cake had the best crumb. Anyway, thanks so much for your help and delicious recipes.
Hi, I am going to try this recipe this week. I've used others of hers and they are always dependable. I'm 71 years old too, and will turn 72 in a month.
I finally baked this! It was so good! When it was cooling off, the husband helped himself to a slice for supper. As usual I reduced sugar and it was still good. And I didn't use the frosting. Moist, chocolatey, dense. Yummy! Thank you, Stephanie for this recipe. Love from Singapore
Whenever I was home sick as a child, my mother would walk over to the bakery across the street and bring me a small glazed chocolate cake (the dimensions were 11x7 cm, with a rounded top). It surely made being sick easier . . . Today I am home with the flu and coincidentally your video crossed my path. How nice to feel the comfort of yesteryear, while watching ... thanks ;o)
Dear madam, Hi am Dr. Pratap upadhya. I work and stay in pondicherry, India. This mail is about how much me and my family love and appreciate your baking recipes. I only recently took up baking as a hobby and within few days I came across your channel in youtube. Many of the recipes given there came out really well especially muffins, cinnamoms and pound cakes. My family especially my daughter loves the taste and delicacy of the recipes given. Thank you and keep posting more
My 4 1/2 year old little baker, and I made this yesterday. It came out perfect. It is so delicious! My daughters would consider it a dream come true to meet you, or do a video chat! They sure love making your recipes and watching/ working alongside you!
I agree, another tasty recipe! I watched this yesterday afternoon and was intrigued by the idea of a chocolate pound cake. Luckily I had all of the ingredients on hand. WooHoo! Made one and it came out perfectly. Went without the glaze for this one. Thank you!
O yes, this is the cake I'm going to make this weekend! Maybe I'll add a little instant coffee too... Thank you for sharing! I love it when you take something out of the oven: you start smiling when you open it. Just lovely to see how you enjoy baking and the smell of the goodness that comes out of the oven :D Blessings and love from The Netherlands/Holland, Diana
Hi Stephanie! I made this cake several times and last time I brought it to my in-laws! Everybody loved it!! I was so happy, thank you so much for the recipe ❤

Hello Stephanie! I have been following and making your recipes since I started baking back in 2017! They always, ALWAYS turn out amazing and my family and friends love them! Not too sweet, not too salty, unlike most American recipes (at least for our taste). I hope you and your family is healthy and well. Happy holidays and thank you again for sharing your recipes!
I made this cake last week and it was so good, we finished it in 3 days (there are only 2 of us). It was hard and a little dry straight out of the oven, but became very soft and buttery on the inside especially on the next day. We loved it! Thank you for this recipe and tips!
Thanks once again for another amazing recipe!! The way you give us all measurements in cups and grams has to be highly appreciated as so many baking channels don’t , they give either one of them never both. So thanks for that! Keep up your lovely baking and thanks for sharing such perfect recipes with us💕
I ve made your cakes using pressure cooker and it worked!! This one and the candid fruit cake turned out absolutely marvelous ! Thank you for your foolproof recipes:)
Hi Stephanie Liked this pound cake sooo much, made it last year for Christmas (baked 4) was a completely success and planning to bake the same delicious chocolate cake far the most richest cake today for Christmas dinner 2017 thank you for sharing God bless!!!
done it! the taste is perfect! i've been doing 4 recipes from you and all of them are great, thank you. I warn anybody who wants to learn how to bake from youtube, not all recipes can be trusted, but i definitely recommend this channel. on the note side: i don't have cake flour for this, so i use all purpose flour instead, but i suggest you to look it up on google the right measurement for that (cake flour and all purpose flour have different weight).

I just made this...it's very good. It's similar to the chocolate butter cake recipe. I like how the recipes are not too sweet. I used quality vanilla extract and Guittard Cocoa Rouge. Thank you Stephanie, you are my go-to for baked goods.
Hi there! So i tried this recipe today, and it came out prefectly! Im an average home baker, so i would say its quite a fool proof recipe. Simple ingredients and delicious! Thank you for sharing 🙂
Hey Stephanie, just did this recipe in 18 cupcakes, just left out the topping ( to save some calories) 😏wish i could send you a photo. Thanks, they came out beautiful.
Because of this channel and my strict attention to detail to all her processes...I have become a CELEBRITY in my family. They now understand that I'm the BAKER in the family. Last Christmas I made a LEMON CREAM CHEESE POUND CAKE with pecan dust garnish...and that cake started an ARGUMENT...because everbody wanted the last piece. Then they turned their anger on me because I didn't make 2 cakes. 😆 I owe it all to this channel, my passion for baking....and Professor Stephanie. 👍💓
Hai Stephanie... I have tried your Chocolate pound cake recipe on your website for months and they always turn out great. When I saw you have finally make a video about it, I thought I'll check it out... But I notice that you've changed the recipe by add milk in it. my question is, Is it ok if I didn't add milk? Thank You :)
Hi Stephanie, great as always. But my loaf pan takes forever to bake the middle of cake. Either pan or oven temp off. At any, thinking of making it this weekend, would it make a difference if I use an 8 by 8 brownie glass pan instead. Time would shorten for sure, but I wonder if even would fit and affect texture? Thanks in advance.
Could you tell me How to make a chocolate lava cake or molten cake...? I would like to know the recipe to make it exactly like the one that I ate in any cafe... thanks
Joy of Baking I have tried this one but It doesn't have melted chocolate inside the kind that you cut with a fork and end with chocolate coming from inside... you know!
Wanted to follow up on this. I made this for my neighbors as a treat for their anniversay, while they were going to be away from home on a job. Anyway, they said it was delicious. I'm about to make another one for someone's birthday. Much easier to transport than a layered cake and still a nice treat. Thanks so much for the recipe.
I made this yesterday...wow it's decadent and delicious. It's one of those cakes where you need to wait a few hours to cool but it's worth it. I used a shot of expresso instead of the dry coffee. I don't know how much of a difference that makes but I am super happy with the result. I was concerned that the chocolate chips wouldn't remain suspended in the slightly thinner batter but it was fine and the expresso / chocolate flavor is super rich and delicious. I find that an expresso shot makes the cake a little more moist. Joy of Baking is my go to channel for all things baking. If Stephanie is looking for an idea...I am looking for a nice spice cake recipe. 🥲
