Vanilla and chocolate are not comparable! They have different functions and we need both 🥺 vanilla is an aromatic that adds depth and complexity and warmth to all things without stealing the show. Chocolate is a food (a delicious food!) Chocolate has its own segment of the dessert domain where it's the star, Vanilla transcends domains and lends a vital fragrant helping hand to all desserts behind the scenes.
Chocolate is a star. Vanilla is a sidekick. But hero support has a vital role to play. Vanilla makes baked goods taste better even if it isn't a dominant flavor.
There are over 150 types of vanilla in the world, including Indian vanilla, Tonga vanilla, and Ugandan vanilla-but the two most prevalent types found in most stores are Madagascar or bourbon vanilla, and Tahitian vanilla. Also worth a look: Mexican vanilla, as it’s made from the very same plant as bourbon vanilla, and Mexico is, in fact, the birthplace of vanilla.
Enjoyed the banter, so cute, but yo, chocolate originally from Mesoamerica! When we say chocolate we are all speaking Aztecglish for the Aztec word, xokolatl.
I have to say you do warm my heart with the program that you give us!! I suffer from a lot of physical pain and when I say Dulce's laugh alone BRINGS ME JOY!! I just LOVE SEEING SOMEONE LOVE LIFE LIKE ME!! 💓💓💓 Many BLESSINGS to you BOTH 🤗
Dulce...you hurt my chocolate-loving heart when you attacked it's purity and life-choices. Chocolate is loose and unfocused? Nah...chocolate is confident and has presence & longevity. Vanilla is influenced by whatever shows up...I would probably introduce it to my therapist.😉😏
That’s right ain’t no vanilla fondu because uh ain’t nobody love it like that.. I will argue nacho cheese has taken its place.. pun intended… look here vanilla at its fanciest is French but fries are French too how fancy are they… lol (The American perspective hahaha)
I love both vanilla and chocolate (often together), but if I had to choose ONE for the rest of my life? I gotta go with chocolate for sure. Josh wins this one.
I’m always blown away with how much Dolce travels and experiences, yet still can’t put the pieces together. You can absolutely get unroasted cocoa nibs at your local co-op, they have amazing nutritive and antidepressant quantities. Molè is an amazing savory, unsweetened chocolate sauce found most places in America…. It’s like she works for Fox News and pulls all this wacky nonsense out to defend her point, and then ropes you into nonsense just to twist you around 😂😂
I correctly chose Dulce would be team Vanilla because it was clearly a trick question. But Dulce isn't truly team Vanilla if she is adding chocolate sauce to it. I am not a chocolate fan. I only eat it if there is something to balance out the strong chocolate flavor. An oreo needs to be triple stuffed. - Chocolate chip cookies need to be milk chocolate not semisweet and I usually pick out the chocolate chips - and chocolate cake needs to be 3:1 ice cream to chocolate cake. Vanilla bean is the best vanilla flavor. And I would take vanilla bean cake with vanilla bean ice cream over chocolate any day!
Love yall! Just wanted to chime in and say I have been hella enjoying these shows! And for the most part gurl dulce you always get me on your side but imma go with Josh on this one, it's the chocolate nostalgees that gets me. I always look forward to yall! Yall put a smile on my face when you joke around much love!
I feel like vanilla would be that one character in an RPG everybody knows it's support. It goes with something else and more as a combo for a dessert. You can't really have it plain alone
I am Vanilla ice cream all the way, you can put anything into Vanilla. Chocolate ice cream doesn't always mix well. However, when it comes to Josh's point, I love Chocolate candies, especially, Dark Chocolate.
*3rd and Final Comment* now that the video has finished: A lot of people love chocolate. I am not one of those people. I love caramel. Because so many people like chocolate, I'm sure they will be tempted to side with Josh on this one (he made some semi-nice points). However, even though Dulcé Sloan never even once mentioned the number one reason Vanilla is BEST, I feel like she won. *You literally can't make any of the chocolate desserts and candy bars you like without VANILLA!* Nougat, the chocolate itself, caramel, EVERYTHING uses Vanilla to enhance the chocolate flavor. Without that, most people wouldn't like the chocolate. So, technically, Josh can claim this one but *ONLY because Dulcé didn't mention this very real reason Vanilla is Best.*
Vanilla is an ingredient in many chocolate products, therefore there is no chocolate as we know it without vanilla, which means vanilla is more important (and chocolate is derivative).
White chocolate is basically just the fatty oils extracted during the chocolate production process, dulce is right they're very similar to cocoa butter, also it's no surprise that the most delicious kind of chocolate has the least chocolate in it 😆
Maybe to uneducated tongues? People use so much sugar in everything that the slight bitterness bothers them. It's a strong flavor but the best is between 60% and 70% cacao. And to the point of using a little bit of cacao in chocolate... you barely use any vanilla in any recipe so they're equal, just that chocolate is better. ;P
Based on the length of this podcast it's going to be a deep discussion between chocolate and vanilla probably one of the deepest I've ever seen on the internet
I'm typing just after watching up to Minute 4:29 into the show, just after Dulce's revelation, and I must say: I knew it!!! and Dulce's reason for it too!!! Lolll Dulce likes versatile things that can be combined with other things, and that's Vanilla. And against expectations, this time Josh might come out of left field supporting team chocolate. Lolll Fun game!!!
People don't realize how much intelligence it is taking for these two to have this conversation and keep it interesting. A great comedian is often the smartest person in the room. E. G. Dave Chappelle. 🐐
I'm Team Josh on this! Ice Creams: Chocolate Ganache, World Class Chocolate, Chocolate Brownie. It is not about being sweet, it is about being creamy, chocolaty, and delicious!
This is a toss-up. When it comes to ice cream, Dulce is right and vanilla is best. However, when it comes to candy bars, etc, Josh is right. Call it a tie.
*1st Comment from me:* Dulcé said stop the video and answer who I think will pick what. I'm going to say, Josh will go for Chocolate because ... reasons. 😂 And Dulcé will go for Vanilla because it can be mixed with Everything whereas there are some add-ins that don't blend well with chocolate.
Josh…surprisingly never thought of you being biased toward vanilla. There are different levels to vanilla. You have to have a clean taste pallet to differentiate: French vanilla ice cream, versus ice milk, soft cream vanilla, absolutely tasteless. Custard vanilla; all different.
I like vanilla over chocolate since I've never gotten physically sick from eating too much vanilla, while I have from chocolate. the tastes are both great, but vanilla is more of my comfort food than the extravagance of chocolate. Also for plantains vs bananas, the inside skin of the peel of both is able to break down the chemicals in mosquito bites that makes them itch, but the effect is stronger with plantain peels.
14:18 Same. I'm not a fan of just an entire bar of chocolate. Nah. Put caramel and nuts with the chocolate, then I'll eat it. Turtles, Rollos, Snickers... yes. I lived in Belgium for a year and can speak from experience: U.S. chocolate is trash.
2nd Comment from me: *FIRST, I was right!!!! Dulcé was on the side of Vanilla!!!* One thing neither is bringing up is that chocolate cakes and pies are made delicious by *ADDING VANILLA EXTRACT TO IT* because without the Vanilla, the chocolate doesn't pop. Alternatively, you Vanilla is fine on its own and doesn't need chocolate to give it flavor. ijs 😁
The problem is chocolate doesn't get the same mixture love as vanilla. I am a butter pecan eater so that is favored vanilla. But if there was a chocolate pecan version I might switch up.
I always thought that I disliked chocolate until I had legitimate Belgian chocolates and I was like, oh. I just hate American chocolate. It’s like eating wax.
Just started the episode, Chocolate. Easy. Crumbumb - Hank venture from "The Venture Bros." brought that term too me, glad to hear Dulcé reppin it. edit: Got the point Dulcé said to stop, I think Dulcé is going to rep vanilla for some reason. edit 2: Dulcé! I'm so glad you brought up Neapolitan ice cream. 'Cause Chocolate and Strawberry fusion is the play, that's the move. That vanilla third will be in my freezer. It'll become freezer burnt as no one else is trying to finish that third of vanilla. It'll remain there till the end of time. Strawberry can't rescue vanilla. Run tell that. Edit 3: The vanilla bean rich vanilla is nice, but I'm not enthused by it. edit 4: Plantains all day.
There is usually vanilla in a chocolate product. Vanilla enhances most any flavor, where as chocolate is usually dominant. He might not enjoy chocolate so much if there weren't vanilla in the mix.
I just heart you two so much. You to make this make the world just a little bit more sweeter to live in. This was such a sweet and a new ones conversation I needed to hear today. I am so here for it.
I am vanilla all day everyday! In yoghurts, milk shakes, ice creams, perfumes, rhum, cookies, literally everything! I can't stand chocolate ice cream by itself, or most chocolate desserts for that matter, because I get tired of it reaaaally quickly ^^. It's too much! Funnily enough, my favourite chocolate is white chocolate, and there's 0% chocolate (cocoa) in it ! Dark chocolate is a punishment most of the time, it's bitter, it's not comforting... Only when you start adding milk and sugar and caramel and almonds or whatnot, does chocolate start to become a treat (: ... But yes, team Dulce for my stomach and palate, but team you two in my heart ❤️
Please keep these coming!!!! Plantains vs bananas!!! Can't wait for that one Im love me some chocolate but i gotta side with Dulce. You can add so much to vanilla, brownies, chocolate chip cookies..lol
Many high quality chocolates contain natural vanilla. Vanilla is king!!!! I love vanilla more than chocolate, you can add vanilla to all sweets to make it better, but you add cocoa and it tastes like mud.
It's funny that she was the one who pointed out that there's no Charlie and the vanilla factory. The exact point that I raised! That would have been a better point for Josh. Missed opportunity man
"Very" vanilla is a thing, but idk that it makes a difference. It's like, we added more of nothing to this already plain thing. I won't cross over into "real" vs. imitation vanilla because this argument is about the everyday vanilla that comes to mind for the average person.
Vanilla ice cream is a base. I agree with Dulce. I put Cinnamon toast crunch in mine, knowing full well it's my husband's favorite cereal, and it should only be used for his breakfast, he thinks. Pa-pow. I like chocolate cake, though. I went to dinner with friends, and I told the waiter I wanted chocolate cake. I was ridiculed, but I told them ho's I just wanted chocolate cake. And he brought my cake when he brought their dinner. I like dark chocolate best. "I don't eat chocolate often, but when I do, there will be no breaking things apart to save for later".
Man, josh and I are usually on the same team but not today! Vanilla all the way! You got your French vanilla, your vanilla bean, your vanilla bean cream, your homemade vanilla, what are you gonna put in your root beer, orange soda, cream soda float? Not chocolate! What is your banana bread gonna taste like without vanilla, bland nothing. Vanilla is king.
Yo he's just owning it right now cuz she's just like struggling with the vanilla points. Josh my friend you get brownie points for some of these valid points on chocolate
i would say try a two cakes and two shakes with one with cheap vinilla and the other with expensive vinila, then come back and see what you think. ps there is a different type of plain vinilla flavors.
The pain of hearing we aren't supposed to be eating the whole chocolate bar. I thought the little squares were so you don't have to bite into a chocolate bar like you're eating an apple and ruin your teeth 😅
Vanilla is very classy and elegant. Doesn't mingle with just anything. Chocolate is loud, extra and overpowering. They even said themselves, a lot of people don't want to eat a whole pure chocolate bar. Team Vanilla! And I'm very surprised Josh was not the Vanilla advocate 😂
Tomatoes are originally from Mexico, South America and Central America and was cultivated by indigenous peoples. Originally called tomatl in Nahuatl. Spaniards called it tomate, then English speakers called it tomato.
Apart from the tomato episode, I think Josh does a better job of supporting his choices. Often (not always), Dulce will heavily recount her personal experience/feelings about the topic. Then sometimes I think she's going somewhere but then she loses me and then I'm like "dang, you almost had something". Edit: I just heard her say vanilla can't be made into an oil, but it can 🥲. I wanted her to do Vanilla justice man
I think she's just adding more points to chocolate. I mean chocolate and peanut butter that is true actually just a few months ago I tried Nutella with peanut butter and I'm just like "heavenly" that's the best combo I ever tasted and I've never even tried Reese's pieces. All I can say is she just added a point to chocolate. I think she sabotaged herself. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Depends on what it is for me. Blue Bell vanilla ice cream? Yes! German chocolate cake? Yes! Sometimes the vanilla is too bland, sometimes the chocolate is too sweet, so it really boils down to where the vanilla and chocolate is coming from. LOVE YOU BOTH!
