Dude it's pretty hard to believe that this came out in 2020 this literally looks like an '80s to maybe early '90s style music video I love this this is awesome this is literally the type of music I like and we need more of it again.

I feel the music video shines light on the song being about a chaste priest's conflicting desire for intimacy, the "sweet candy," and his position as a church leader. The priest feels trapped in celibacy, only marrying others and not being married himself, remembering his promise to not indulge in intimate desires but hunting for "candy" nonetheless. The old lady with the cocktail is a strange temptation but the angels on his shoulder only sing to his desires as well. His hands become bloody after indulging and his innocence/identity is lost as his pure white teeth now run tar black. We finally witness the former priest wildly driving away from the imprisoned web the church was.

you got the lyrics wrong a little ....she likes films with morbid endings. it's a referene to Andy Warhol and his protege Candy Darling, a film star who died in the transition to transgender female, from too much estrogen, famously died in the hospital dressed to the hilt and very glamourous, even in death poses.....

I gotta give these dudes props, usually when people try to do a take on 80’s it sounds retro and not authentic. Not a big fan of retro. This on the other hand can legitimately pass as an unheard 80’s song. This is how 80’s imitated music should sound. If you’re going out of your way to sound of the era do it properly.

This band has managed to capture the feeling of the 80s at the best levels, pure new wave, a perfect harmony that easily mixes with the best representatives of the new wave of the 80s, and that fingering on the keyboard is a gem.

Totally. Everybody is comparing them to New Wave dark synth bands from then, but Fleetwood Mac really comes to mind. Lindsey Buckingham's "Trouble" is the spiritual predecessor to "Sweet Candy".

Genius video. I listen to this song almost every day and it makes me tear up almost everytime. After listening to it the first few times I decided I think it’s a song about queerness. I’ll never not get goosebumps to this song.
