Excellent video. RU-vid needs more chemistry channels where the experimental outcomes are characterized. In an amateur setting, running TLC plates is easily done. Bonus points for the MP and optical properties!
Its a ND20 Gp20Na-1 low pressure sodium lamp I bought off Ebay, I’m not sure if any others would work, might have to modify the lamp socket or use a separate power supply
I’ve found a couple sources that use acetic acid with a metal catalyst to acetylate cholesterol. This one uses FeCl3 as the catalyst and reports an 86% yield, DOI: 10.1055/s-1999-2806
