You can change the angle of the instrument you just have to apply a bit of force. Consider the offroad capability, you don't want the instrument to move around when you are offroading. I have the Metzeler Tourance tires on my XE and there is no problem doing highway with a bit more road oriented tires. The bike is definitely not the limiting factor here. Take it on a twisty road too ! I can tell you it is surprisingly nimble, coming from one who moved from a Street Triple to the XE.

Let's not kid ourselves, there are practical limits to how much power is useful in the dirt, beyond which it's just extra weight you can't use. A motorcycle tire contact patch is just so many square inches, through which you can only transmit so many ponies before it's spinning uselessly. This Triumph is well beyond that limit.

True, but if you plan to ride a bike to the trails, it can often be a long trip where you'll want to pass slower traffic along the way. These are street bikes that can hop over things. When traffic stops on an interstate due to a wreck or whatever, I'll take my Versys into the grass and ride right around it. Gotta be kind careful though as there is a lot of trash out there like tires and bottles.

I did not. Wound up with a Speed Twin. Couldn’t get a good deal going when I tried. Which is fine it doesn’t look like the Niken will be around much longer.
