Choosing Foundation for Pro Makeup Kit 

Tip for Bobbi Brown palette. Cover your hand with large clear bandage/dressing and use your hand as palette. The warmth translates through bandage and keeps everything sanitary... once warmed up sufficiently, pick up foundation with brush and apply as per usual.

I'm a Bobbi Brown freelance artist. On her palette there are concealers and correctors. The correctors cancel out the dark color under the eye and then you put a skin tone correct color of concealer over the applied corrector and usually bring it down further under the eye to brighten up the area. The concealers are formulated to be a touch lighter than the foundation color with the same name. For the correctors there are hues in a pink or peach and in different shades. You can identify them by looking for these tones. The pink cancels out blue undertones that come through under the eye on cooler skin tones. Peach/orange will cancel out those greener dark colors under the eye on people with warm tones. You can mix the pink and peach for people who have neutral undertones. Her foundations are warmer (more yellow) because on the skin, yellow cancels out red. Yes, green is on the other side of the color wheel but then you end up having to cancel out the green. I just finished a commercial shoot and we shot outside in 37 degree weather. The actor got really red from the cold and I put a very yellow corrector on his cheeks and ears then covered it with a foundation that matched his skin. It completely hid the red and his skin didn't look ill. Those HD cameras would have picked up green. Yes, some people aren't that warm and have a lot of high color (red) which will show up in their chest and look totally weird if they have no red on their face. In Bobbi's line and color technique you would then use a bronzer after setting with powder and the bronzer warms up the skin in all the right places. Her bronzers are used for this kind of color correction instead of "browning" and you choose the right one by holding them up to the clients chest and choosing the one that has the closet color. Some of them are straight pink and just look like blush, which is perfect for those people with fair skin and lots of high color. She also has very fine loose powders in light pink and rose for this purpose. They're called retouching powders and they are amazing.

the ben nye cream palettes and the kryolan palettes are great, thats what i have in my pro kit. you can get it at camera ready cosmetics. Also with those foundations, the coverage is beautiful and a little goes a long way. try em out, you wont be disppointed.

The pink/salmon toned bobbi brown concealers on the left are definitely the ones for under the eyes so you can color correct, she has those two toned dark circle palettes w the same idea

Just... Thank you I found this extremely helpfull. I have the Bobbi Brown Bbu palette and yes very thick, i mix with Kryolan creme blend to thin it out without losing cover properties. I recommend and would def buy again. I want to try other foundation palettes like Ben Nye Diverse Harmony or the Kryolan Supracolor TV palette just to compare it one day. I ordered the RCMA palette to try out for my kit, I hesitate to buy the bobbi brown one but now that I saw your video I am gonna wait and order one or two palette of the cinema secrets one to try out

I’m at University as a makeup student (I’m from the uk btw) and they made us buy mac face and body and now I’m mad at myself for not getting a palette foundation instead as I don’t have space in my kit for all these bottles 😂

@Gwyneth Price Panos Sian Richards London Hydro-Proof 4K Longwear Creme Pro Palette is good and the shade range is amazing. She though of light, med, dark and let me tell you all tones neutral, cool and warm. It is compact so you don't have to depot them!!

Have you tried Graftobian HD Creme Foundations? They are packaged similarly to the Cinema Secrets, which I haven't tried, but the graftobian ones are so good and photograph so nicely

Hi Firstly thank you for such an informative video. I am just starting out as a makeup artist and I am trying to build my kit. It’s hard to decide which foundation is good for outdoors specially when it’s humid. Which one would you recommend for outdoor shoots (which involves dance or any activity) and for bridal as well.

I’m so glad I stumbled across your page! My question would be, can you use the Cinema Secrets foundations that you displayed in this video on the body? In your opinion when starting to build your foundation kit, would you start with Cinema Secrets or Makeup Forever? And/or which specific palettes from each would you recommend to buy starting out? Both seem great and are great price points!

Hi I’d like to hear your input 😊 I purchased the rcma foundation palette but I can’t seem to make it work with any primer do you use primer? I’ve tried for dry and oily skin but the foundation moves around and the rcma no color powder actually leaves my clients face with a white film 😩 Help lol TIA
