Finding the right concrete paver manufacture has been a journey for us like most companies. Here is a video I put together to help guide new and veteran hardscape contractors in their selection of which concrete paver products to use. I go over paver types, finishes, manufacturing techniques and manufacture/dealer relationships.

Good explanation of the two mixes. I have been using County Elements, looks the same as the far right large slab, and have noticed that it scratches and stays scratched a lot easier than the older through mix. But I will say, seeing all the round little aggregate on old patios is not appealing whatsoever. So we'll see how the new facemix pavers hold up in a few more years. Those little unilock rectangles are sweet. I put a band of those burgundy ones through some rivercrest pillars. Turned out sweet.

I have found that the face mix pavers do scratch easier. I think they have gotten better though. I remember when face mix first came out they were a lot worse. And yes the Copthorne by Unilock is by far my favorite paver for banding and accents. So nice!

How do a newbie know the density of diff paver in a store -_- ...? Bring a saw and cut it ...? Any other methods?

Take the weight per square foot of paver. The heavier paver will be more dense.

Could you potential mix all those pavers together as long as they are the same thickness?

Unilock, Techo-Bloc and Permacon are my preferred manufactures. I think Unilock has the superior product but comes with a premium price. I find Permacon and Techo-Bloc similar in styles and price. Techo has better brown colours and nicer walls while Permacon has nicer greys and textures in their slabs.

Agreed. We don't have Permacon around us but I have heard good things and have heard it being compared to Techo before.

We only use Unilock and Techo Bloc right now. I believe Unilock by far makes the best pavers and Techo by far makes the best walls. If you want more of an explanation send me a private message.

What's your opinion on Cambridge pavers?

I consider them a mid tier manufacturer. I wouldn't say don't use them but I wouldn't say they're the best. That is all based on what I know of their initial product quality, density and coloring. I don't know about their long term durability and customer service.

We do. My Unilock dealer is actually also a Nicolock dealer.
