I already knew how to get my TimeLine to chorus, but this was very helpful in getting it to flange. I'll probably still use my vintage MXR Flanger, but it's good to know how to make the TimeLine do it. Thanks for posting this, amigo! 😎
Something to consider: set your sample and bit all the way up (96, 32) for the most high quality sound. Then you can mix in a little bit more of the lofi and take the repeats all the way down. I have had some success with that!
To my ears flange is comming about 2 to 6 ms with the repeats about 2-3 o’clock as a feedback or color knob will do! I also prefer the more snappy and more top end with the filter and grit all the way down! Cool vid thanks bro!
Right. For some reason, in the videos I've seen, they always run the delay up to these ridiculous values (like, above 10 ms) that just accentuate the pitch wobble, which makes the guitar sound out of tune. The Repeats control is a feedback control that intensifies the harmonics as the flange sweeps the spectrum. It's best not to overdo it.
At 1:16 the LoFi mode is on but the TYPE knob is pointing at DUCK. Why is that? I am confused with the TYPE knob because when I turn it on my Timeline it doesn't necessarily change the sound. Can you help me understand what the TYPE knob is supposed to do? Thanks!! Newbie delux here.
Nah, the encoder knob for the delay type doesn't have a "pointer." What you're probably seeing is a trick of the lighting. Google "Strymon Timeline" and click on images. You'll see better pics where that knob has no pointer.
Allan Ardon, Man, you beat me to the punch!! Nothin' but high-dollar boutiques around that board! I would be embarrassed to show up with my Line 6 M9 velcroed in place! Hahahaha!
