Not a lot of people bring this up, but what a missed opportunity that Chowder, a show about food, didn't get its own cookbook...

There's always a silver lining. Even if it was basically by accident, Chowder Grows Up was the perfect finale for the series, and had it go out on a high note. The cartoon community and even industry to an extent has a hard time letting shows go, despite all the times we've seen how that is sometimes more of a curse than a blessing. Nothing can or should go on forever, it's okay to lets shows and stories end when they should.

It's crazy to think that Chowder was only considered a moderate hit in terms of ratings in its time. I remember everyone around me loving it as a kid. Even my parents would watch it.

I’ll admit, this was actually a pretty surprising twist because when I saw the thumbnail for this, I thought it was gonna be something bad that the network did.

Part of me gets the feeling that the Great Recession (which also got the cartoonstitute cancelled) also contributed to CN Real. Especially when you consider how cheap those reality shows probably were to make.

I still cannot believe that the American Cartoon Network thought that CNREAL was a good idea. They never did that over in the UK.

A rare instance where the creator doesn’t mind getting screwed by the network. Harvey Beaks was CH Greenblatt’s actual passion project, from what I’ve heard.

Chowder actually premiered on the day of my 9th birthday and honestly, this show is much better now then it was when I was saw it years ago.

My favorite episode is “Schnitzel Quits” too! How can you top Schnitzel getting a literal Deus Ex Machina?

To be honest, I kinda always happy that the show ended on a high note. It sucks to know that your favorite show is ending, but let be real, if it keep going, it'll become less enjoyable.

I really like the series finale for this show. The fact he was basically singing for like 10 years and everyone else was just standing around. I mean didn’t they eat or go to the bathroom in all that time? Definitely a big plothole right here lol

Chowder was a classic that was definitely underated. Put in work to animation and the jokes were funny. Chowder. Looney tunes show etc shows were modern classics

I remember Jordan Fringe covered this show on his channel awhile ago. This show deserves more love and exposure I think.

In terms of the planned timeskip, I'm pretty certain one other factor in play: the aging of certain cast memebrs. Unlike a lot of its contemporaries, much of Chowder's child characters, the titular character included, were played by child actors. By season 3 though, the voice of Nicky Jones, Chowder himself, began to break. I'm not 100% certain if Jones would've reprised in the timeskip but a timeskip would've been an awfully convenient way for him to continue voicing Chowder even as he progressed through his adolescent years.

I really wanted to see a Chowder movie.

Going into this, I was like, “HOW?! Greenblatt was screwed over on Harvey Beaks, why is this show screwed over, it had a good run? I thought he had a good relationship with CN.” I had no idea that the show was canceled in favor of CN Real and negative press from external sources. It really dodged a bullet. It reminds me of Jimmy Neutron, it was intended to go on longer but it ended because of factors outside of the show’s quality. The studio going bankrupt.

I love Chowder very much. My favorite episode is the one with the Super Toilet.

I really like the knishmis episode. Not only because it had some good jokes, but i appreciate the show runners giving us at least ONE moment of chowder giving love to penini willingly instead of forced by the plot

All I can say is that the show is nearly a masterpiece. I say nearly because of the existence of Panini and a few episodes that made me wonder if the writers might've enjoyed writing it a bit too much(same unfortunately applies to Jellystone, and I do ultimately like that show as well).

Man Greenblatt can't catch a break first cartoon network screwd him over by canceling chowder due to cnreal and then nickelodeon screwed over harvey beaks for not reaching spongebob ratings and canceling the show which btw Greenblatt didn't know about it until he found out about it on twitter and more recently it has been said that jellystone has been canceled due to some of the artists leaving the show saying its finished this show cancelation is no doubt due to warner discovery canceling anything woes Now Greenblatt is in disney trying to pitch a show hopefully it goes well for him cause god he really needs one

I'm glad that Chowder got a definitive ending makes it really rare and stands out

I was really obsessed with Chowder when it was on. I was a huge CN kid, and Chowder was in the right place and at the right time for me. I distinctly remember how quickly the show ended and how everything got replaced by the CN Real stuff and was infuriated by the whole thing, to a point where I only saw Chowder Grows Up once before never seeing another episode air on reruns again. Finding out that the crew were out of ideas, and seeing shows like Family Guy and FOP get dragged out as long as they have made me appreciate Chowder's cancellation much more.

I was wondering if you would do this show due to the show style was rather unique to more modern cartoons.

I was really expecting another "the network is evil, and they ruined the show" story, but seeing what was going to happen makes me glad that Chowder only lasted 49 episodes (That and considering how weak Season 3 is compared to the other 2), I wonder if there will be a vs. The Network with other Cartoon Network shows like Johnny Test or Ben 10, considering they suffered from executive meddling.

I love the Chowder Knishmas special, so glad it got reanimated on YT. So many of the punchlines still hit so hard.

Chowder had it rough in the end but Harvey Beaks is on a whole new level

I really liked this show! The art is pretty good and I really adore the fact that it has different animation styles! From hand drawn to stop motion to even live action! I was gonna say that I wish there’s more of this but there is another show that’s doing it! (That I’m very happy about!)

Interesting video, I think it ended on a good note. After seeing that quote from Greenblatt it was nice that despite having the show ended soon it was good thing for him. My favorite episode of Chowder would be "The Fire Breather". 🙂👍👨‍🍳

Me and my dad watched this to death during my time in the hospital during my days of physical therapy during one of the hardest times of my life this is the show I needed at the time my dad loved it 😂😂

This is a special case where a network canceling a show turn out for the better. Chowder has logically run its course so it wouldn't have been ran into the ground, that finale episode was a solid send-off to all the characters and the show has become more fondly remember because of it.

I think cancellation can sometimes be a good thing, especially with episodic comedy shows.

I'd personally prefer the sudden cancellation scenario where the crew is announced in advance when their show gets cancelled, like how Rise of the TMNT and Owl House had to rush a series finale fast. Sure, the way they got screwed over was absolutely ridiculous, especially for the former where they really got borderline rushed production wise, but having a finale regardless makes it feel at least like a proper book closure or a period to a sentence. And at least Rise got 2 finales technically with the Netflix movie!

In canceling Chowder, Cartoon Network did the right thing for the wrong reasons.

I remember this show. It had some oddly good flash games. And the character designs were just fun

I'll slightly defend CNReal. From a brand perspective, it was dumb. But from a business perspective, it made sense because live action shows are almost always less expensive to produce than animated ones. If they were able to pivot the channel into exclusively live action or even partially, it would've saved them a lot of money in the long run. As for my favorite episode, it used to be The Blackout, but now the plot kinda drags a bit too slowly for my taste(still like it because Chowder and Gorgonzola carry though). I think my favorite episode now is Big Ball, something about the jokes and Truffles' fued with Mung just clicks with me.

I missed this show

On the one hand, I'm sorta intrigued on what could've been explored in the timeskip season, like Chowder teaching and bonding with his apprentice, Scraps, or how the dynamic between Chowder and Panini would've changed up due to them being married after the former tried to avoid Panini like the plague for the majority of the show. On the other hand, I'll have to agree that it was for the best that the show ended the way it did, even if it wasn't by choice.

Honestly Cartoon Network After The Boston Bomb Scares was pretty rough how can freaking Boston mistake Aqua Teen Hunger Force Lite Brites for bombs so freaking dumb loved the movie funny as heck

OMG OMG OMG! I have seen this and watch this video on RU-vid and it was awesome! I love Chowder and the idea of having Chowder to have multiple seasons and episodes! It's awesome how the show turned out but too bad it didn't get a revival nor a reboot! 💔 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I love the episode with the Elemelons, but the entire first two seasons are pretty great. Also, I have a theory that screwed by the network can also go in the opposite direction: Phineas and Ferb went on for so long like Fairly Oddparents, Family Guy, etc. that by the time they announced Candace Against The Universe I just felt indifferent.

Unlike AT, I don't think many of CN shows are able to last more than 4 or 5 seasons without running out of ideas. Rewatching chowder or flapjack is kind of hard when the status quo kicks in and you're not a kid anymore. I like all the chowder compilation videos but sitting down to binge the series kind of shows just how much borrowed time it was on to begin with.
