In an interesting turn of events for Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad, someone (Wonder Wendt) completes work without talking to themselves, singing, dancing, and generating a plethora of other sound effects. We didn't know it was possible but here's the video proof. Oh yeah, he works on yet another rod brass for Polson 70.

Are those bolts tapered?

They should be fitted, not tapered.

@@OleandersGamingEmporium just wondering the bolts on the main crank of 2100 where tapered enough that you couldn't tell until you tried to put them in

@@kakinokitsune4487 it really depends on the type of rod. This engine has straps that hold the bearing in place. So the bolt needs to fit both sides of the strap with the same clearance. I believe 2100 had a type of floating bearing.

Yes the bolts are tapered. Most all locomotives have tapered bolts from the factory so that if the nut falls off, the bolt doesn't yeet itself going down the tracks. If a locomotive does not have tapered bolts, it usually means that it was changed at some point.

@@kakinokitsune4487 forget what I said lol. I had forgotten that if they were fitted it would have popped right out once he got it lose.
