He never answered the question. He was basically asked, what role does marijuana play in Death Metal? Next thing I know I'm hearing about how alien farmers came down to earth billions of years ago and planted weed
Because why not take the opportunity to put out some meaningful words, or at least try lol no offense to chris I love him. But seriously what does death metal have to do with weed that pop, rock, jazz, country, funk, techno, doesnt. Maybe the video does not give the whole footage and Barnes was opening a big can and start from his basic marihuana opinion for he could later connect it to his music but he was cut off. Or maybe the answer is simply unimportant
Get rid of that "cures" - it doesn't cure anything. Cure means it makes not suffering decease anymore - weed just mute all the symptoms and it slows down the develop process of the virus, but it doesn't cure anything. The good point here is - you can better smoke weed if you suffer from pain instead of taking painkillers because all painkillers will have other side effects which are more risky than smoke a regular joint.
I've heard about it. I know also about the CBD oil. As family member of me suffer from epilepsy, I know how this affect your health in fact - I've seen it, not only readed it from books. No weed product cures the sickness - you are still sick even if you don't experience the symptoms, because as you stop taking the cure, you will suffer from the symptoms again. It's true that it have positive effect, as you don't feel the symptoms that often - it differs from person to person, but at all it has large positive effect. Ofcourse you can take a regular medication from the doctor, but every medicine has it's side effects and especially with epilepsy... the side effects can mean a lot for you as you need to take it on daily basis. So if it makes you sleepy... you will be sleepy 24/7. Most of the medication damages other organs so longterm use can make you sick from something else. Depending on what you suffer from... weed can be a lifesaver, but it won't cure you. It will make you less sick, maybe not sick at all, but you need to take it regular - if it is illegal in your country you can get lot's of unneeded problems... only because you want to take care for your health, so for some people this isn't a solution. As I've seen in the Netherlands (where weed is legal all along...) I've seen people using weed to not suffer from the symptoms from some diseases as: cancer (chemotherapy have very nasty side effects - weed can be a lifesaver in this case...), rheumatic, epilepsy, and some psychic problems - if you suffer from chronic depression, you will be stuck to medication anyway... but antidepressants have very bad name as for their unpredictable side effects (it differs from person to person), you can better go over on weed if it helps, as weed won't give you the side effects which antidepressants does.
I know someone personally who has taken hundreds of hits of acid and he now works as a supervisor. A position he earned thru hard work and self-knowledge. Guess what that requires? A brain. So take that "This is your brain on drugs" bs to another dumba** like you who believes what the politicians and religious zealots claim.
@@augustoarganaras7955 Saying that one who is talking about aliens putting weed on the earth for us to enjoy, MIGHT be on hallucinogens, is mean?? Can you say, “fragileeeeeeeeeeeè”
Now I know why they kicked Chris Barnes out of Cannibal Corpse. I thought it was just from his growl that was starting to crack, but it goes much deeper
His side project SFU was already in motion. He also had other ideas of lyrics from Vile that Alex had wrote, seeing as he was already on tour with SFU and prefered his own lyrics they parted ways mutually.
@@stanshumer1726 he wasn't kicked out. When he was on tour with six feet under Alex had called him to kick him because he had his other band so they weren't stranding him. On the call Barnes said he wanted to leave. He was not kicked out. Watch the documentary
Cannibal .. cannabis haha but no his growl is way eviler than Corpsegrinder plus we do have a cannibinoid system why the fuck would death metal have anything to do with or without pot? That’s a clown question bruh lol
I smoked cigarettes since I was 15 and I collapsed my lung on my 22nd birthday, I'm with Chris, why the hell is tobacco legal when it kills you so fast?
Seriously, despite all his _"saltiness"_ lately and what people may think of him he's still a *fucking legend* and indeed a great Death Metal vocalist 🤘😆 *Love ya Chris!!*
chris probably is high as hell but the thing that really scared me is the complete in-effect of weed in his eyes, men, he has totally normal eyes, and veri big too, is insane XD
+Owen Fitzgerald Just depends on how you use it. Choose to drink and drive, you put yourself and others at risk. Drink heavilly, don't expect your liver to live long. Marijuana can be bad too. A lot of people use it just for leisure. Marijuana is supposed to relax but it seems to make people paranoid and edgy so care to explain. Only good thing about marijuana is it is natural medicine, it kills cancer cells which is fucking great.
When you live in the middle of a fucking swamp, what else is there to do? Get fucking high and make some of the most brutal death metal ever. Much love Chris!!!!
Chris is 100% correct with everything he said in this interview, its pretty shocking how many people either don't understand what he is talking about or disagree with him completely. He is not saying alcohol and tobacco should be made illegal, hes asking why such dangerous things we consume in our daily lives are legal which things like cannabis are illegal even though they have never killed anyone?
@@Tysandifer well tobacco and alcohol are both physically self destructive whereas cannabis is physically beneficial and being stoned is almost enitrely controlable for frequent users, unlike being drunk...
I personally feel like the relationship between marijuana and Chris' astounding work is clear. I would bet dollars to doughnuts that George Fisher doesn't smoke weed...listen to the lyrics he sings (which he doesn't write); they're so plastic, so forced, so many syllables, so heavy handed. George issues threats and explicit descriptions of violence; Chris inhabits the mind of death. Just look at his lyrics - "Look to the sky - it's turning black - no sun shining light - day turns into night - no moon above - lost in the shadows" - these images wash over you like a kaleidoscope. Even his delivery, the way he can harness that slow power. I hear the "flow", the "in the zone" thing with Chris Barnes. His lyrics and approach are...deeper, and hypnotic.
i think his line of argumentation is really interesting but i would even go a bit forward and say that the main reason of the prohibition isn´t the fact of destroying the people but it is the industries wich would die if cannabis would be legal because no one would use chemical medications or other products as cloth if theres a natural and even cheaper alternative.
when i smoke weed i love to listen to death metal! it makes me feel the aggressive emotions more intense and the music feels more brutal without making me insane and without a hangover. I ALWAYS feel great when i smoke! So I totally agree with Chris barnes! Totally true what he is saying!
come on man give him a chance, he's a hippie death metal dude--not a public speaker or lobbyist. He speaks from the heart and balls, you've got to admire that.
As much as people are hating on Barnes for this, I agree with him. There has only been 1 death from an overdose of cannabis, and that 1 person was already on a different medication with a different condition. Also the fact that cannabis is completely natural, and with other drugs like LSD and Meth, they are man made. That shows a lot, in my opinion. What I don't agree with is that it was placed here by a higher being. It grows naturally, so is the work of mother nature, but some consider mother nature the higher being anyway.
Weed has different effects on different people depending on tolerance, experience, mental states or simply genetics. It can turn some people into a potato but they were more than likely somewhat of a potato anyways. The way I find it effects me after years of experience is that it wakes me up, puts a happy fun light on my day and makes me want to do things. If I use it before doing a task it helps me concentrate and immerse myself in it. Its like an enhancement until I come down.
He should prolly do less yes for the sake of conversation at least. Cannabis wont eat your brain but maybe residues from smoking too much in general will clog up your neural pathways. Some people seem to have functioned although they were chronic smokers. Check out freaking Terrence McKenna, funny thing is he tells the same story as Barnes but gave hour long lectures and debates in an eloquent manner that was unreal. A side note is that he had a brain tumour but the doctors assured him it that his daily smoking was not the cause for it
"I believe it was placed here on earth by a higher power.." made me cringe. Other than that, I love Chris Barnes and what he have contributed to the death metal scene.
I have so much respect for this guy, everything he said is 100% accurate. What he forgot to mention is that alcohol induces violent behavior, while all weed does is induce deep-thinking. People can die from alcohol poisoning, but you can't die from weed. This world is fucked up. I think everybody in the world should be aware of this video lol. Aside from weed, I love his vocals, and the first CC albums were my favorite.
No brother. He turns the whole thing around. The plants canabinoids are evolved to be effective on our brain. Not the other way around !!! Using that as proof for aliens is even worse ! Love Chris barnes and all of his music tho.
"Most stoners (I mean only heavy users) who even go a week or so without weed still have horrible memory." It takes about 10 weeks to get all THC totally out of body, but there are no long term affects, like in alcohol where you actually get physical changes in your brain after longterm use. You can also minimize the damage to your lungs completely by using a vaporizer.
