Damn.. this might be the most compelling interview to date for me. Big fella is very transparent and self-aware. He didn't embellish or glamorize his former lifestyle. He's not ashamed of his current one. He's smart.. yet very flawed. The product of a hustler upbringing. I'm pleased Mark is giving the world a peek into how many "street people" are birthed. Many don't choose their environment. Their environment chooses them. Those brief periods of silence were masterful on Marks part. I think HE needed a minute to process how this street smart, philosophical man could be on skid row smoking crack in weed. Most Black men won't show themselves this vulnerable. Great interview!!

You act like you know this guy lol. People like you who watch these videos are very naive. You dont know shit about this guy except what HE says. And i can guarentee at least half is bullshit. The other half is what he wants people like you to believe. This guy is your average crack head who has been able to get by barely! You say he is so smart yet if he was even a little bit smart he wouldmt be doing this interview on skid row, wearing dusty ass clothes smoking a crack laced joint. Is he a product of his environment ??? Im sure he is and i dont blame his childhood on him. But as a grown ass 50 yr old man there is no excuse for how hes living. So miss me with the b.s. in your comment.

I enjoyed this interview very much. Heavy is smart, street wise, and articulate. But like most, if not all of us, he’s had some trauma. But he’s unapologetically honest, and I appreciated that about him.
@Dickstick
@Dickstick Год назад
If you're talking about blacks, it might be true that most of you have had trauma. It's institutionalized. But whites? No, cold reality is that the most of us didn't. Many pretend to because they think it's cool. I envied the "normal" kids in my fully white school for having a family, good income and little to no problems growing up. I can relate way more to Heavy or similar people because I understand their pain and anger. Those people are brutally honest in a world filled with liars and wannabes.

He's not walking in accordance to God's will. So sadly he Lord won't allow him to enter the kingdom. If indeed we love God, then we live according to his spoken written words n lean not on our own understanding but in all our ways acknowledge him. He also says we should put off the old man n put on the holiness of God. Plus he says, Yeshua/Jesus we are to not be of the world but be in the world. Plus Satan prowls the world seeking for those who live like this man. Sadly he still lives for Satan....n that my friend is far from the truth and karma is a 3rd world belief from that elephant looking female. Lord reminds us to not be an apostate, aka a liar. Living a life contrary to what ABBA desires for us. No 1 is holy not not 1. Sadly he talks like he knows scripture when Lord says his Children will even judge the angels. Plus he says judge not least you be judged. Lord never sad not to judge, he said DO NOT SIN!!!

STORY time 🗣 So im 25 now and completely sober, but I started smoking weed when I was 13, not to mention i used to steal my mom's cigs at the age of 5. I remember jamming Wiz Khalifa nonstop with the bathroom window open so my grandparents couldn't smell it, but they still would.... Fast forward to high school where the real stuff started..... This is where I started drinking, popping Xanax, selling and popping my mom's Seroquel pills, drinking lean, & started doing nose candy. My girlfriend and I at the time actually ran away and walked from Houston when we were both 16 to this Island down here in TX called Galveston. We got there the night before the Lone STAR Biker Rally had started. We slept in front of this Wendy's on the seawall, and woke up to a man handing us a hundred dollar bill. We were basically homeless at this point. We walked around the island a little bit and found this skatepark and just hung around there. We met some cool ppl, but it was this guy and his son who lived in there truck that first took us in in a way. Then we met this guy who worked at Pizza Hut who had a shotgun house that took us in and that didn't last long because he was straight up a creep who'd fantasize about my 16 YO girlfriend. Well behind his house one day I was outside smoking a cig while his neighbor who was an ex Bandidos member was taking out the trash and just started chatting it up. Well come to find out he was released from prison due to health problems & was now living with his mother, and this was the next person to take us in. He was as real as it gets and treated us like family, told us his whole life story, helped me get a job under the table at this pizzeria, and just helped us out in general. My girlfriend and I at the time would go to this supermarket and sit outside & panhandle, and this is where we met the 3rd household that took us in.... I'm getting tired yall so ill shorten it up, we lived on that island til we were old enough to get emancipated, and then we moved back to Houston and enrolled our selves back into high-school. My grandmother allowed us to stay with her til we could get our own apartment. Fast forward a few years and we split, and this is when my life spiraled downwards... Alright so after we split due to her cheating on me I just left and was walking around chilling before I stopped at IHOP. Well after eating I was outside just smoking a square when this man and his little nephews asked if I was OK. This is where I met the guy who'd soon introduce me to Crack... Sad to say this part of my life is blurry, but I do remember the key parts along with bits and pieces. So I go to this dudes apartment since I literally just walked out on my ex, plus he seems like a cool dude that had just got back from the rodeo with nephews. Well we get there, he puts his nephews to sleep, and we're just up drinking when he ask me if I've ever smoked crack. I told him no and proceeded to tell him how when I was 14 I watched my cousin shoot himself... He then told me how its not that bad unless you over do it and how he'd walk me through smokin a primo and why to never hit it out a pipe. My whole time I was living with him and in college I was smoking crack. It wasn't until I found myself behind a dumpster of Family dollar smoking it that i thought to myself "You said that you'd never this. Look at your cousin who died off it, look at your mom who's got drug induced schizophrenia behind this shit..." I just wanted to die at that point. I took myself to psychiatric hospital that night and started to get the help I needed. I'm now sober, run my own catering & landscaping business, blessed to be able to care for the lady who raised me, & just doing better in general.

They’re not the same. People that use drugs make the personal decision to partake, the only person they’re directly hurting is themselves. Pimps and child predators are opportunistic, manipulative, and shady. There’s absolutely shady dealers as well but they’re just providing access to a specific substance that the individual is seeking out. Both parties know what type of business they’re engaging in, no lies or manipulative tactics, and it’s a straight forward transaction. Pretty sure I don’t have to break down why child predators are scum or why pimps can be problematic.

Absolutely intriguing how the human mind works! How were raised 100% does have an interest in how we turn out.. I normally will watch your videos and say to myself I hope they turn their lives around. But in this case, it's different, he's unable to change who he is, just who he is, he was bred for this, he knows this already. He asked him if he believed in karma. From the outside you can see why he might ask but from the inside he doesn't realize why probably.. He's an enigma if I've ever seen one. 100% contradictory but so extremely intriguing to listen to his life story & his mind at work. He seems to be very intriguing & could absolutely write his biography, it would probably be a best seller!!!! If you've only known one way since the day you were born since your first memory whether it's good bad or indifferent that's what's to be that's just your life. What an insane ride he's been on & will always be on. And his one fear is one that all people getting older have GETTING OLDER and not being able to take care of yourself. I'm disabled at 58 & will end up in a wheelchair unable to take care of myself one day. I don't like thinking about it but I know it will happen. He's pretty sure the same will happen to him, not a good feeling.. no matter how different we are we could still have some of the basic human fears and desires

I think that the biggest takeaway from your videos is to never underestimate people (the old adage to never judge a book by its cover). This gentleman is an exceptionally wise, highly intelligent, survivor whose path was clearly chosen without his having any say. If I were to happen upon him either chillin or workin, even though I tend not to make assumptions, my mind might draw some knee jerk subconscious conclusions. Granted, as adults we do have the power of choice but it is often far more complex to accomplish society's expectations than it is to stay on the road that has furnished survival. I could easily spend hours digesting his stories and wisdom. There is no question, however, that he expels pain and loneliness with his every word. Yet another incredible, mentally nourishing, interview from SWU. Thank you!

This is a great interview, Mark. Really really good. One of the ones that paints the visual of their life in your head. Big Heavy is the real deal. The bus story was crazy. Was wondering if his “boss” in NY was Mafia. Idk - either way a raw look into his life.

I'm from the South Bronx. New York is so hard. This man reminds me of so many people from my neighbourhood that I saw growing up. Street life in New York is so specific. The rats in the barrel New York way because of how hard it is to live there, getting through the unforgiving winter, the hellish summers only people from these neighbourhoods understand. New York is hell on earth. I'm so blessed that I was able to get out because of my parents who made us use school as a way out. My Afro Cuban father and Afro Puerto Rican mother refused to allow us to be a victim of the streets.I left America and never looked back.

I could not agree more. Thank you for having the good sense to speak up. It is preposterous. I guess we will all pretend we didn’t hear the part about cutting up the bloated corpse he put in the suitcase for his “boss.” I suppose that because he vomited, one could argue that he has a heart.

I'm shaking my head in disgust and disbelief at the comments. They're either all bot comments, or the idiots writing them don't have a brain cell left in their head, or they're young, impressionable tweens on crack!! I do know there's thousands of bot comments, so I'm hoping that's what they are. People can't possibly be this stupid.
