Secondly, businesses get a number of tax breaks/incentives/subsidies, call them what you will, for the purchase of EV's, over and above the usual business deductions allowed.

I don't mind the stamp duty one (stamp duty was supposed to be abolished with the GST anyway), but the car itself should not be subsidised. If anything, they should be subsidising ALL small, lightweight, efficient cars, since these damage the roads less than heavier cars (like most newer EVs). Set a maximum weight, length, width and and fuel/power consumption rate, and waive the rego taxes for the first 2 renewals, or something like that... or just don't give people discounts at all.
