It’s probably because if you didn’t make it to the Finals or the Conference Finals then your team probably wasn’t as good as advertised. There have been 1 seeds that have lost to 8 seeds but they aren’t really considered choke jobs because those teams weren’t as good as we thought. These other teams were as good as advertised and were on the brink of winning but froze up and choked.

If the Clippers did this in the Finals it would be one of the worst collapses in sports history. But since it happened in round 2 it makes you think. Were the Clippers really as good as we thought and deserved to get to the Finals? People think of it as a huge choke job because we put all these expectations on them to start the season. So they not only blew a 3-1 lead but they underachieved. Which makes it feel more significant but I’m not sure the Clippers were as good as we thought. It’s definitely a huge collapse and a choke job but less significant because of the round it took place in.

Well the Lakers right now are overachieving . Besides Lebron and AD , they dont have a single real starter in a deep playoff team . Just a bunch of bench players . Clippers were supposed to have 4 of the best role players in the league ( Bev, Harrell , Lou , Morris ) and 2 superstars , and eberybody had them as the clear favourites the entire season . This is nowhere near close to biggest choke job. This will be forgotten over time because it was the 2nd round. Larry Bird was swept out the 2nd round by the 3 seed Bucks as the 2 seed and they made it the finals the year before but no one remembers or cares because context gets lost over time and it becomes insignificant to your overall resume especially as time goes on. I believe the best way to look at it is to ask yourself this: Which is worse what the Clippers did against Denver or if they made to the finals against the Heat and went up 3-1 then completed melted down in the exact same way they did against Denver (i.e. 3 straight losses, blowing double digit leads in the 2nd half and ice cold). To me without question, the 2nd scenario would be way worse.

Exactly Skip was hyping that man since 2014. If you are a keen Bayless follower you know that in 2012 he was a big KD stan, until KD called him out. He had his moment in the sun in 2013-2014 when the Spurs won the chip, he then jumped on GS and Steph in 2015-2016. Once Steph choked and KD joined the Warriors he started hopping really hard on the Kawhi train in 2016-2017. Once Kawhi got hurt in 2017-2018 and KD had "dethroned the king" in the obviously VERY crucial game 3 of the 2017 finals, it was all KD all the way. Then after shunning Kawhi in the 2018-2019 season for "quitting" on his Spurs, he then came back and said both KD and Kawhi were better than Lebron in 2019-2020. One part of that was obviously dead wrong, we'll see how KD returns. Morale of the story: Bayless just flip flops to whoever has the best chance to challenge Lebron so Lebron never can surpass his first man crush in Michael Jordan.
