Michael Jordan entered in the 80s and dominated 90s. Retiring and then came back in early 2000s and still a threat with one leg. Kobe entered 90s and played well and won chips in 2000s. What made Arenas’ argument so wrong is that they’re all professional players and they can adapt. The great players can thrive in any era because it’s their mentality and discipline that made them great. And those intangible things are penetrable through time!

I don’t think they heard Gil correctly, he said the people that were hurting players were not top defensive players. And the offensive skill set as a whole evolved so much over time. And you can’t deny that players now are faster, stronger, shoot/dribble/pass better. Plus it’s getting too common to see players 6’8” and above who can dribble and shoot like a guard. The 80’s never seen a steph, Giannis, kd, bron, etc.

Prime Bird will kill it in today's game. Bill Laimbeer will kill it because no one does defense anymore, for those who don't know, he is a 4x all star (GA only has 3x) and has 2 championship ring (something GA doesn't have) and was an NBA rebounds leader and he does not need to do rough housing . Heck, he'll likely be like Shaq with no one stopping him, and he can shoot... that's why a Prime Shaq will be crazy in today's NBA... where defense is non-existent.
