I agree. My only problem is that people conflate great basketball with the basically violence that was going on on the court in prior decades. The best series occurs when the most skilled teams go head to head. Not the grittiest I wanna kill you teams or the flashy teams that take advantage of rule manipulation but the actually best skilled teams.

You guys didn’t play the game at a high enough level if you actually believe that. Anyone who played basketball or any sport at even a modest level understands that athleticism in people doesn’t change that quickly. Stick to you arm chair quarterback opinions though.

Bill Laimbeer had some commonalities with a player such Kevin Love -- a very good rebounder, can shoot to 3-point range and was a great outlet passer. Love is better scorer while Laimbeer was definitely more of a defensive presence.

I don’t usually agree with him, but he’s absolutely correct here. They weren’t playing good defense in the 80’s they were just fouling a lot more. The PPG in the 80’s is higher than the 90s, 2000s, 2010s and only JUST got passed in the 2020s. Now imagine if they shot 3s in the 80s the way players shot now. They’d be average 140 points per game.
