Man I miss this stuff. I feel really lucky to be in high school and college during his glory years when watching Dave was a routine and his stuff was cutting-edge.

CBS move was obviously necessary, but the broader, less edgy 11:30 direction lost me pretty much immediately. Everything that made me laugh was pretty much gone.

I love Letterman's genuine laugh when he pulls out the melted football helmet and then says, "We'll dig into this a little bit later."

Miss these days SO MUCH!! Elliott was a genius. Golden age of Letterman. My Mom used to like Dave too and she didn't watch a lot of tv.

Yep, definitely the glory years of Letterman's show. Chris Elliott was one of the best regulars on the show.

Enjoyable to see something that I saw live, at 15, and found to be hilarious, stand the test of time.

Wow, the resemblance is uncanny, if he had bit Dave on the ass, I would never have known it was Chris.

Comedy is actually in Chris Elliott's DNA. His father was in a famous comedy duo in the 1940's

Classic Letterman very funny before he got political.
@discoex1
@discoex1 7 лет назад
Actually, VERY MUCH NOOOOooooo, David Letterman continued to be very funny (and completely correct in his political thoughts and ideology) after he became more expressive politically in his shows.
@edgarcasey

They really screwed this up. He should have been introduced as Marv Albert, and Dave should have been calling him Marv. When Frank Caliendo came on as John Madden years later, they got it right.

Watch Dave's face just after he says "Chris Elliot." He looks like, "Whoops. Did I just say Chris Elliot? Oh, well, too late now."
@PeterBondeVillain
@PeterBondeVillain 10 лет назад
Or they assumed that the audience was smart enough to get the reference without being beaten in the face with it at the get go.
@arthowardatnight
@arthowardatnight 10 лет назад
You're right, actually. As I look at Chris' other impressions, they introduce him as Chris Elliot no matter who he's supposed to be.

Noooo. Pot smoking is a great assett to our country. Keep toking up, I'm sure you contribute alot to your community. Dope.
@chomsky88
@chomsky88 12 лет назад
Actually, I don't need to tell him since he often shares his pot with me--he's a bank manager, by the way. I don't know anyone who doesn't use pot recreationally, the same way people use alcohol. Does it enhance your abilities? That's arguable, but the examples I gave shows it doesn't hurt and doesn't turn people into brain dead zombies who can't function or contribute. Willie Nelson is another good example but there are, of course, hundreds more in the entertainment field.
@chomsky88
@chomsky88 12 лет назад
I agree with you; imagine what Paul McCartney could have done with his life if he only would stop smoking pot. And Seth Rogen is getting nowhere.
