Man I miss this stuff. I feel really lucky to be in high school and college during his glory years when watching Dave was a routine and his stuff was cutting-edge.
CBS move was obviously necessary, but the broader, less edgy 11:30 direction lost me pretty much immediately. Everything that made me laugh was pretty much gone.
Actually, VERY MUCH NOOOOooooo, David Letterman continued to be very funny (and completely correct in his political thoughts and ideology) after he became more expressive politically in his shows.
They really screwed this up. He should have been introduced as Marv Albert, and Dave should have been calling him Marv. When Frank Caliendo came on as John Madden years later, they got it right.
Actually, I don't need to tell him since he often shares his pot with me--he's a bank manager, by the way. I don't know anyone who doesn't use pot recreationally, the same way people use alcohol. Does it enhance your abilities? That's arguable, but the examples I gave shows it doesn't hurt and doesn't turn people into brain dead zombies who can't function or contribute. Willie Nelson is another good example but there are, of course, hundreds more in the entertainment field.
