TheXshot well now... i always thought it was car porn.. turns out that for some people it's chris porn.. in that case i think he could make a seperate paid channel where he would be naked and in oil, and some people would pay loads of money so there would be more videos. i don't think he'll want it like this though.
Neah. Nothing costs more than maintenance of a ferrari, especially a V12 one. You can buy a lightly used Megane RS every year with that kind of money. :))
You are all way off base. One nice A-listers vacation to the Maldives with Heidi Klum surpasses half the purchase price of a fucking F12. No way the total maint. is anywhere near as expensive.
Even more true in 2020. A balanced package that came from another world and i still want one. I drove a 458 and loved it, can only imagine the Speciale even though I think the 458 is the prettier car.
@@alexmartinez280 Agree completely. I'm not a fan of the 488 at all. F8 is better in looks but engine lacking in sound. Naturally aspirated all the way. Looking forward to the next design change in this line. The 488/F8 is just a continuation of the same design. Getting old.
@@U2GuitarTutorials i personally think the 488 is better looking than the f8 its getting old i cannot wait when pininfarina comes back if it ever will we will have at least the looks last good modern car ferrari made is the 812sup/gts imo and the competizone versions of it
Anybody else think of how crazy it is that McClaren... Went from the F1, to the amazing MP4-12C which a couple years ago nothing could beat and nobody could imagine something better and right out of nowhere they come out with the 650s, P1, 675LT, etc... They are really the most improved supercar manufacturer in the last few years.
"MP4-12C which a couple years ago nothing could beat and nobody could imagine something better" Except pretty much everyone who had driven a 458 said that was a much better car and the 12c lacked the very things that makes a sportscar great.. But Mclaren have come a very long way in a very short amount of time, can't argue with that.
@@Speednote10 The 12C is a fantastic car in its own right, but the 458 is one of the best cars made in the past 20 years. Its not better because the McLaren falls short, but because the 458 is just that good.
Just want to say, i really really enjoyed this video. Thanks so much to all involved and for showing us the best of a great bunch of cars. Also, so glad your channel is doing well, 121k subs with 20 videos posted, most from old Drive, and yet the loyalty of people coming over and subscribing is a testament to the entertainment and passion you put into your content. It's what we want damn it! We want sideways at 120mph shredding tires and the schoolboy chirps and yelps from the driver's seat! We enjoy the cars with you vicariously, because you give so much back in your enthusiasm. Many thanks again, will certainly keep watching!
Whole teams of car journalists, with all the logistics and money of their companies(I'm talking EVO and MotorTrend), couldn't make in a year, what these two gentleman made in 3 days! Amazing work, keep it up
As a Portuguese first of all I would like to thank you for choosing the Portimão Circuit, it's such an amazing place, the sunset and everything was just perfect! An then I would like to thank you for the best video I've ever seen, you're by far the best car journalist, nobody transmits car sensations, behaviors and performances like you. Your's and Neil's videos completely bring car reviews to another level. The sceneries, the use of different angles of camera, car noises and everything else are just above every other car reviewers. Thank you, thank you!
34:55 Let me get this straight... The Renault, while being approx. 125 bhp less powerful and being a FF car (narrowly) *beats* the M3 on the track? I didn´t expect that. By the way, this video might just be one of my very favourite motoring videos ever, just after the Top Gear Bolivia, Africa, Romania, Middle East and Vietnam Specials. Which you intrinsically can´t really compare to this, content.wise. Chris Harris on Cars , you´ve gone and did it. You lot were really good while being with /Drive - you are in a league of your own now. Hats off to you lot, magnificent work.
I guess at the end of the day the Renault is a lightweight stripped out track car running semi slick tyres and virtually no interior!. I was actually surprised that the relatively heavy 4 door M3 , running regular street tyres full on luxury interior, did approximately the same lap time.
I've seen this video when it was in my timefeed back in 2015, but I cannot help my self to watch it again and again. Mainly at 9:50 . I just can't stop my self having a huge smile on my face when Chris switch him self from maturity to absolute child with the F12. One of my favorite moment in CHOC videos. I miss these videos ! Top Gear is cool but I love the simplicity and genius of this show.
chris harris is the greatest car journalist in my opinion because he basically shows his excitement about driving these machines and he makes sure to show that, so everything runs naturally in his videos! he's a true car lover and i can relate to that because im also a car lover who does not do his job just for the sake of money but he truly loves what hes doing for a living... ''i guess he hasn't worked a day in his life''! i would just like to cogratulate you chris for the job u've done! He seems a great person also.. Oh almost forgot it, nice humor... Greetings from Greece brothers.
That video was perhaps the absolute best piece you have produced to date Chris. It is a perfect culmination of all the many reasons why so many regard as you as one of the best Car Journalists out there. Thank you for producing such high quality work.
I think they would get them if they would have worked harder on their product (car reviewing) and simply put more effort in making these.. So ye, it kind of is..
kagolko Motor Trend is not only the biggest Automotive Channel on RU-vid, it's also one of the biggest magazine publications on the market. Plenty of effort goes into what they do.
Adrian Doyle Each to their own my fellow commenter. I think their videos are nicely presented for the most part. Their decisions/verdicts in the videos, of course, are usually the thing that people dislike. The video quality itself is fine.
How does this video have dislikes at all ? Chris, why don't you just drop everything and progress this channel of yours like Matt does with his TST channel. I can honestly watch more and more of this video and never get tired of watching such a quality piece. Chris Harris On cars should be its own show, like RIGHT NOW !!
Dear Mr. Harris, Pinch me if this isn't the absolute BEST car video EVER! If there would exist an Oscar, an EMI for car videos, you just won: Best Actor, Best Story, Best Music, Best Photography, Best You Name It. But the point that stands out: This is a FUN video with smiling, happy people! Thank you so much for making, producing this stunning and POSITIVE video. In the midst of this winter I was transported to sunny Portimao and be part of the experience. It's clear you are the best automotive journalist/entertainer around. I can't wait for spring to start to take my tracktoy out of Hibernation. Please organize a meet and greet! Three Cheers for Mr. Harris and his wonderful team! A huge fan.
He comments that the Speciale feels subjectively like it might not have quite the same punch out of corners as the GT3, and then when he looks at the stopwatch he's smashed the GT3 by 5 seconds...he's a second faster than the F12...and he's 2 seconds off the 918. At the risk of understatement, it seems the Speciale is pretty well sorted. If Ferrari manages to deliver turbo punch without losing the trademark responsiveness on its imminent 458 replacement, what on earth are we going to be talking about? A baby Ferrari that's a second off a 918?
Since posting the above, news of the 488 GTB has emerged, and what Ferrari is telling us is that it's half a second faster than the Speciale around Firoano. So, when the "Speciale" version of the 488 GTB comes out...yes...we'll potentially have a baby Ferrari that's a second off a 918 around this track.
Let's hope on the 488 Scuderia to be released soon. Mclaren has shown their lighter track model. The weight figures are claimed best in class. We have to see 1 weighed before believing the claims. 675 LT has Trofeo R tires as standard. Should be interesting to see on a track with all this grip. Porsche has said of building a mid-engine rival for both Mclaren and Ferrari models.
Huxxy the 488 GTB is a monster -- huge bump in HP over the Speciale, should be an almost uncomfortably close rival for the F12 in terms of pure speed. In terms of pure sex, though, the F12 is still king of the Ferraris. Interesting to imagine *its* successor...
So, you've out done yourself. Just spend 42 minutes watching great video presented by Chris Harris featuring some of my favourite cars. Wonderfully edited. Wow. Keep it up!
Chris... well done mate. This is a proper enthusiast video... I am starting to enjoy your videos more than the TG boys. There's is like watching a comedy show themed at cars. Yours is like watching a documentary... far more to the fact and for a true car lover, a great watch. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
This is the best I have ever seen on youtube. THANK YOU CHRIS CARRIS!!! I cannot belive i haven´t seen this film before because i have watched everything else of you!
Back here in Dec 2021 to remind myself what proper motoring content is all about. Such a shame CHOC stopped, but fair play to Chris for going after bigger things. Top bloke.
Is it just me, or would anyone else like to see Chris Harris drive an actual competition drift car?! I’ve thought this for a while. He’s an absolute beast in basically everything he drives, but I’d love to see what he could do in a car built solely for drifting. Thinking Formula Drift or D1GP, would be great to watch.
This is fantastic! Setting the bar high for all the other journalists Chris. I personally can't wait for you to review the 991 GT3 RS and the Cayman GT4.
Another epic watch again for ever and ever instalment...... Imagine 3x Chris and this kind of passion and energy being on your screens every Sunday evening instead of 3 old weary men following a carefully scripted mildly amusing slapstick comedy ?
Wow what an awesome day out! Have to say my personal favourite cars from 2014 are the M3 and GT3, they are just so good what ever you throw at them. But if I'm honest all these cars in this vid are all absolutely magnificent! Great vid Chris, loved every second of it! Hope 2015 brings as much joy as 2014 was for cars! :)
Nue Rroku I'm to much into V12 and I hate front wheel drive. About BMW: I just hate the fact they put sound through loudspeakers. i think it's just not fair. and BTW: V6...
This is one of the best videos about sports car ever. Chris's enthusiasm, passion and great driving skills are legendary and I am so happy he has his own show! Well done to everybody that took part of this!
Mzn T Yeah but the track has a pretty long straight, where the Beemer has plenty more ponies, and the M3 is also no slouch in corners. So the Megane, whilst indeed stripped, is a really epic piece of engineering.
Ovidiu Diumea And I do not challenge that at all ;) The Megane probably is the best in its class; it wouldn't be present in this video if the alternatives were better. BTW dupa nume as zice ca ne intelegem si-n alta limba :D
Chris, thank you so much you and your team, you guys are awesome your videos are allways great, you just get us in to it, i feel like i was there, you transmite your exciment and we get excited always get a long smile watching you. Again thanks.
Truly an epic production, almost too much fun to cram in one weekend. Wow to the 458 and GT3. Of course we can now say that Ferrari did indeed out-do itself with 488 Turbo, what a beastly beauty (can that even be said?) haha ... Loads of fun. Thanks again Chris!!
Why are you surprised? The M3 is a daily driver, seats 4, has 4 doors, loads of leather, entertainment system, A/C, and every other comfort you want from a luxury compact sport sedan. The Renault is a 2-seater - 2-door hot-hatch....and well....let me just copy n paste from their website: 100 kg lighter than Renaultsport 275 Trophy thanks mostly to the use of lighter material (eg. titanium exhaust), removal of the back seats and removal of some equipment (such as radio and air conditioning). Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 semi-slick tyres, the same tyres that Ferrari used on its 458 Speciale and Porsche on its 911 GT3 Öhlins adjustable Road&Track dampers, derived from the Mégane N4 Rally Red or black Speedline wheels (optional) + Michelin tires high performance Pilot Sport Cup 2 (lightweight racing wheels) 2 seats - Recaro Pole Position unibody polycarbonate painted glossy black front with bi-material marking Renault Sport AT
M3 is good but I'm surprised to see a weaker little Renault faster then a supposedly perfect Bmw m3 .... What would ///M fans think of that result... Don't get me wrong I love Bmw but It can't lose to a front wheel drive hatch back !!!!
Rip out the interior of the M3, add more track-oriented suspension and you will demolish that little Renault. Not so say that the Renault is bad, its a sweet piece of grocery-getting machinery.
Raven05R6 I don't think it's bad, I would take that over the fat m3 ! And ok it's not the prettiest car, ok it's nt the fastest when you mix all kind of cars, ok it's fwd but damn, it's a racecar that you can drive everyday. It's more like a fwd lotus. Don't bash a car brand for things they don't have, but glorify the effort put to create an enjoyable (and fast) car.
Out of the three new Hyper cars the Porsche is the most impressive, considering the weight and that its low on power compare to the other two, the lap times it pulls are actually amazing.
Fair point but I would put my money on lightless and more power to beat AWD (plus a lot more weight) grip and to be honest the P1 grips like hell when it's on track mode so really there is no excuses, I like all three but I'm really impressed with the 918.
Technical the 918 is 4WD not AWD. There is no drive shaft connecting front to rear. The 918 does have the grip advantage under 100mph. After this speed P1 and LaFerrari aero grip/RWD comes into play far greater.LaFerrari aero systems cut around 128mph. P1 is the only 1 aero stays active at all speeds. LaFerrari does have the bigger rear tires. Front are similar size to 918. Still 4WD system is very in play at lower speeds. Auto Car review with P1 and 918 goes into details of P1's aero grip to 918. The power issue is a endless debate. 918 isn't short of power till front e-motor cuts at 165mph. Even then it still has more torque then P1 and LaFerrari after cut of e-motor. Before e-motor cut 918 has some 250+lb-ft advantage of both RWD cars. If you want to take this power issue further. P1 and LaFerrari aren't in there peak hp range till over 160mph. This is no 903hp or 950 at 100mph. All 3 in HP are very much similar say 140mph. 918 power to weight hurts it above 100mph.
Jeffrey Williams 4WD means there's a transfer case like a Jeep or Jimney where you have to shift to engage 4WD; all four wheels travel at same speed and is not meant for on-road stuff. AWD is any system that allows power to be apportioned to individual wheels or individual axles. A drive shaft connecting front/rear is not relevant so much as a differential on each axle is. The 918 has the "smartest" chassis and drivetrain, namely the good torque vectoring and its traction-related electronics that allows it to be competitive while being down on power and up on weight. Chassis design is the name of the game, much like how the GT-R keeps up with rivals and in this comparo, the Megane Trophy beating the M3.
michaelthepsycho even the same person in one single video sometimes refers to the car in 4WD and a couple mins later as AWD. don't be that guy, you'll thank me later
This is the best thing i have ever seen! Chris you never stop to amaze me with what you can do! Your team is bloody epic and videos like this make me feel cheap for not paying for it! Seriously. Thank you!
