If we miss him then perhaps a wide-angle shooter is needed. The guy is awful. A prat of the highest order. The car is stiff he says; suits his presenting style then.

+Diax1324 I saw 2 blokes filling up a 12C at a petrol station the other week, everyone flocking around it taking photos, including a ~10yr old lad and his dad, the driver of the 12C offered the lad a sit in the driving seat whilst his dad took a photo, thought it was a nice touch.
He is mine too! Other favourites of mine are Henry Catchpole (Carfection) and Davide Cironi. The Italian man has a very emotional approach to cars, which sets him truly apart. Really recommended!
Love the 'stranger in the P1' experience.. What a great thing to do, to witness the reaction from someone who has no previous experience of Hyper cars......which is the vast majority of us!
This must be my 10th time watching this, yet still I just sat and stared at my screen in awe for a couple of minutes after this film ended. Utterly magic stuff, thank you Chris & Neil.
Love the look of the guy's face at 10:28. That's the kind of thing that one should do if one owns a hypercar - Give the occasional hitch-hiker a lift. The look on their face is worth it.
Chris Harris on Cars is by far the best car show in town - miles better than Top Gear, that has become nothing more than an entertainment program over the years. Chris' program is what car lovers are longing for - cool and slick cars that are the center of attention, stunning pictures and a great presenter to bring it all together. So guys (and girls) - Chris should not be on Top Gear - it would ruin Chris' image , not Top Gear's as it has already been ruined. Keep up the good work Chris! :-)
If you look back 10 years and watch episodes of Top Gear you'll see that the cars were more at the center of attention than they are today, where the hosts have taken the stage completely away from the cars.
Good on Chris for getting the top gear gig and I know the commercial side of producing utube content can be challenging, but a year or so without content and god I miss Chris Harris on cars. The bloke’s a legend and one of my hero’s.
Possibly the best film I've ever watched on RU-vid,when you picked up the stranger I caught myself with a huge ear to ear grin on my face what a lucky guy and his reaction was priceless.wow.
Mr harris, for me, there is no greater gift possible in the car youtube world than to see this video pop up on my phone whilst meandering the local town arts center sadly looking at landscapes and turning locked door knobs for music practice rooms.
***** Clarkson can't be replaced. The show should rightly be left dead if it's not the 3 original presenters (yes I know that James May technically isn't an original presenter).
Why is everyone so hellbent on Chris Harris joining Top Gear? You people are aware that he will have way less freedom, especially when it comes to telling the Truth about cars, he won't be able to talk bad about brands like Lamborghini and Ferrari. He would have never been able to say about Lamborghini what he dared to say. I think he should either get his own show or stay with this one. But not Top Gear!
This is forever one of my favorite videos. It just focuses on the pure beauty of these cars, not in terms of numbers but about how they make us feel. Bravo sir.
Экспертное Подразделение Диванных Войск! Yeah, it will definitely be interesting to see his views on the Regera in contrast to the P1. I notice that he downed the La Ferrari in comparison to the P1.
AutoRingMagazine Unfortunately, my attempts to find the piece in question have come to naught - I suppose one would have to acquire a copy of that issue of Evo at some point - but I gather that Harris was not overly enamoured with K'egg.
what do you expect from a 580hp awd car vs the rwd P1 on a wet surface. put an e63S, a chipped evo or maby even a 550d x drive in the rs6's place and the same will happen. also the rs6 jumped the start a bit.
I know dude, but barely a couple of decades ago that kinda performance wasn't available for the ordinary driver in a practical package. The P1 is a truly spectacular machine but I was merely admiring what the RS6 can do on what would be considered normal UK road conditions. And in the few years time once prices come down, that's unbelievable bang for your buck.
Finnoctane i do fully agree with you on that one, today i was driving and a 360 spider came in the opposite direction. ofcourse i turned my window down and enjoyed the lovely sound as it drove past me. then i remembered that it only has 400hp. you can get that in an E550 nowadays and no one would look twice as you drive by!
lambosforusal and I remember driving a 1976 Porsche Turbo Carrera as a daily driver back in 77-79' (girlfriend's family=$$$) and that was only rated at 225 HP (US), but it felt quite zippier than my current 2014 VW Jetta GLi (210 HP), LOL...
Chris, Videos like these are something I can truly, truly appreciate. Such a great review on the car and this is what cars are all about, videos from the 2CV to this is just the type of thing I love on this channel, Cheers.
Chris is just as awesome as a reviewer, as the P1 is raw and beautiful. This car is so astonishing and amazing, and will continue to be for the time to come.
how come these videos don't have millions of views... these are my favorite videos being produced right now. Its no BS, total car lover goodness. And I love all the cars he reviews, all driver cars. I love top gear but it can get a little... comedic at times... Sometimes you just want to know how a million dollar car actually drives
Steffen Andresen wet + RWD, mclaren can build great cars but can´t defy physics. For a good 0-62 in any condition you need the drivetrain you see in my profile picture ;)
Steffen Andresen really your shocked? its rwd and its wet and its trying to get nearly 1000hp down. didn't suprise me at all. In fact i was suprised at the speed it flew by at 70mph given the fact it was still lighting up the rear wheels! In the wet that was a tall order the audi is a fast beast let me tell you! !
I would rather let Top Gear end now, then replace Clarkson. Nobody can replace Jeremy! Jeremy, Richard and James simply define Top Gear! And that's and end to it!
I think it's true that Harris works best alone, but maybe he would shine in testing the cars, as each of a potential new show host would do the car tests as individuals, only coming together when they test 3 similar cars concurrently...in addition to Harris and Sutcliffe (who may take a bit for US viewers may take some time to grow and love...but he would be great in the "Clarkson" role, the one behind the camera, not the one getting fired) I would love to see Sabine Schmitz, as the 3rd. You would have 3 very capable drivers (all 3 are former racers at various levels).
It's hard for me not to have an existential crisis when I watch one of these superb automobile videos by someone as amazing as Chris Harris. He has a way of extracting the particular emotion of each car. To think that this machine, the Mclaren P1, so beautiful engineered and crafted, by pure geniuses, with it's incredible performance and striking looks, is available to the elite few??? I weep everytime I watch one of these car videos because you're telling me these things actually exist out there and they cost millions of dollars and I can't have one??? I don't know whether to feel sad or happy.
I had the opportunity to drive a P1 VERY VERY BRIEFLY and at low speed, but even then..... the car felt incredible. Even sitting in it is an experience, the steering felt very direct too. Surprisingly though it doesen't have a "rolling gear" like most semi-automatic-automatic cars have. Which makes it that much cooler to drive, because it feels a little bit like your driving a manual when your modulating the gas in and out slightly to set off. Also the doors have weights in them, so you need to let them simply drop by themselves, or else they will slam. I was fortunate enough to sit in a Mclaren F1 Longtail. It felt so special sitting in the center driving seat. I cant imagine what the F1 is like to drive.
How come it can't while it beat the p1 by 1 second when motortrend tested both of them, they also had a laferrari owner but ferrari didn't allow the owner to make motortrend test it against the 918 and the p1.
Different tracks call for different power bands just because time it doesnt mean anything in a different track its a different story. The 918 is more of a hybrid its the cheapest one with the most tech the others are just all engine with some electric boost plus the 918 is a hard top spyder and the record holder of the nurburg....
www.motortrend.com/roadtests/exotic/1503_2015_mclaren_p1_vs_2015_porsche_918_spyder/ The 918 is heavier, less powerfull, yet it performs better on track than the p1, also it's cheaper, has better interior, better for daily drive use, so it's the better car overall. Laferrari is a joke till Ferrari allow magazines to test it to prove its a well over hybrid car.
Matt Galls www.germancarforum.com/threads/porsche-918-vs-mclaren-p1-vs-laferrari-topgear-evo-etc.52070/page-86#post-739959 this sums up all the comparisons
I got chills when Chris went against the R6...the way he stays on it to 207 mph (in the flipping wet !!!), thats wild. Mega ;) ! Rewatching some of the older vids waiting for the next episode....remember boys and girls, "The drivers seat is a place of tranquility" Tuned in Toronto!
Right now McLaren is like, "Thank god the Jeremy Clarkson fiasco is going on. Now we don't have to worry about the Porsche 918 beating us round the track!"
***** you know that do you? There's definitely a reason why McLaren didn't want it up against the 918 around Dunsfold. Doesnt take a genius to work it out
steerj07 Oh yeah, not like the P1 was developed around there or anything. Another 100bhp or so plus half a ton less weight, and a lot more aero grip... even round Anglesey, a grip/handling circuit, the P1 on Trofeos went much faster than the 918. There's no point in making the comparison - the P1s are all sold.
no point making the comparison, yet you did anyway. So what happens if the 918 is on Trofeos then? Sounds like you think the P1 wouldn't stand up on normal road tyres
steerj07 Yeah, the P1 just has so much power that the normal P-Zeros can't quite cope. On P-Zeros it was slightly slower round Anglesey (a couple of tenths) than the 918 because it just couldn't put its power down. It then went over a second faster than the 918 once it had Trofeos. Had the circuit been less tight and twisty, more about power (which Dunsfold is), the difference would have been much more marked. As Chris shows with the straight-line work at Brunters, the P1 on P-Zeros in the damp has no traction until 70mph and even beyond that still gets some wheelspin.
Chris, you and Neil (and who ever else is involved in making this) are just brilliant. For the average bloke who can never experience what these cars are like you bring me the closest and I deeply appreciate that!
+gmansplit i'm sorry i'm not an audi fan but the mustang GT wouldn't have any chance against the RS6 neither the sting ray corvette. The z06 is an other story tho
lelegume1635 According to zeroto60times.com, all rs6's except the avant are slower to 60 than a mustang gt. And I said Z06, not Stingray, 3 second 0-60 for the Z06, and 3.7 for the avant.
gmansplit according to zeroto60times.com, all the mustangs GT are slower to 60 by about 1 seconds, so get your facts... plus the rs6 will go 0-100 way faster than any mustang, except the gt500 and maybe the gt350R. And obviously the Z06 is faster but they aren't in the same category at all.
lelegume1635 What are you smoking? "2015 Ford Mustang GT 4.4 second 0-60" "2002 Audi RS6 4.7 second 0-60". According to Car And Driver, the 2016 GT does 60 in 4.3 www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2016-ford-mustang-gt-coupe-long-term-road-test-update and the 2003 RS6 does 60 in 4.4 seconds. And assuming you aren't american, the latest year RS6 we get in the US is 2004, so you can't reference newer RS6's.
9:40 for about a minute. This is what makes Chris such a great journalist. He drives these cars to give us petrolheads an idea of what they're like to experience and conveys his observations very clearly.
Excellent as always Chris, although I do wish you'd let me know when you're driving past my doorstep so I can come and come and bask the magnificence that these machines bring to our roads!
Thanks Chris. I find it more interesting seeing hyper roadcars being used on the road than sliding around on a track. The sliding is cool too, but I think it's fantastic seeing these amazing cars mixed in with other 'normal' vehicles on public roads. More of this please!
Chris, unless Chris Evans writes you the part of the century, DO NOT GO NEAR THE BBC. You are far too talented to be swept up in all that rubbish on Top Gear. Keep doing stuff like this with Neil. Hopefully your donations go some way to covering your costs. The pair of you are brilliant.
