Here's the fast lap in the McLaren P1. We used the Pirelli Corsa lap for the comparison, but this is the optional tyre McLaren will supply to customers. Car in full track mode.
+barfyman362 An Agera R is capable of just shy of 2G's in the corners. It also weighs less than any of the trio and even on pump gas has over 50hp more. It would.
Congratulation Chris ! I am so happy and furious at the same time. I wait for little blue dots on your channel and live in Uruguay. I had the pri validate of watching you and living vicariously through your journey and now you are at bbc. I am happy and depressed at the same time. Could not have happened to a more genuine and beautiful character. God speed
Thank you so much for posting this, what an animal of a car! There's only one thing in the world that even has a chance of touching it : The agera R. Please get your hands on one, we're all dying to see what it's capable of.
SOMEONE give this man a gt350r.. I love his articulate descriptions of cars and his amazing driving skills... Would love to see him with a real US track car at his hands. Great vid.
Longtime fan Chris, have enjoyed your work from Autocar through Drivers Republic, stints at Evo, Drive, then this channel and I presume I'll enjoy your work on Top Gear too. How about a final vid on here saying fairwell to this channel or at least an update. As salty as many fans of Top Gear were with the departure of Ckarkson and co there are also plenty admirers of your work who'll be thrilled to see you get the exposure you deserve. Can't wait to see what you get up to next.
Jeez, the Trofeo R shows how much difference an more aggressive tire can do... the front end just seems so much more stickier and cooperative compared to the standard Corsas... that 1.8g corner must have been intense. Ferrari just seemed to do a dumb thing by opting for such a fat rear rim for which there seems to be no street legal R compound tire available like the Michelin Cup2 or the Trofeo, and to keep things fair to themselves they make every competitor run on their not as fat rear street tires in tests, and they still manage to cock up. I mean what sort of an idiot that owns any of those beasts would take them to a track and not have enough spare change for a set of R compounds. Just silly if you ask me. If they opted for a slightly more conventional width at the back and sacrificed some performance on the street then they could have the option to strap on a set of stickies and obliterate the competition on track. ~.~
Zac Youngson Sorry if I offended you Zac. I'm not bashing Ferrari here, I think it's one of the greatest cars ever built. The stuff I stated above came straight from people who drove that thing so I was just expressing my confusion about why Ferrari chose to make a decision that would only allow their car to be driven at 9/10ths in motor tests while in stock form while simultaneously asking for the competitors to do so as well. My english is pretty shit so I may have come across as an angry tard back there so apologies for that. :D
The P1 engine and turbo sounds really takes me back to watching Getaway in Stockholm 2 with the Ford Escort and being blown away by how cool it sounded.
+Jeston Aylen Yeah I know but that doesn't mean he can't get one, he is pretty smart he always find a way haha. Well I would love to see GT3 RS vs 488 GTB, just adding the Huracan would be more interesting since I wonder how it compares to the Porsche and Ferrari.
+JDMTouge I dont get why you would want this. He has done multiple separate tests on both of them, and they are completely different cars for different audiences. If you want to draw a conclusion on them, you might be able to do it yourself.
+Bartie96 Because they are priced similarly, both are made for driving purists but achieve their performance in a different way. They are my 2 dream cars.
Long time fan and love your videos. May you possibly do a review on the new Audi R8 v10 plus? It would be greatly appreciated:) keep up the good work Cris
Put these tyres on the 918 and see what's happening. The 918 weights more, is less powerful amd can go around the lap in electric mode while still being as fast as the P1 in race mode!! THAT is impressing.
