Wow, I had no idea that he did Dancing With The Stars in Australia, this must have been way before he was Thor. The part of him getting the 'dance out of his system' was hysterical to watch, he's like a big kid! Seeing him dance was a delight to watch, but I think they should have given him a dancer who is taller, don't get me wrong the person he was dancing with was fantastic, but because of the height difference it doesn't help with his posture when dancing. Great to see Thor dance!
TikTokToxic Yeah ..the interview (avengers) and also in another interview where Evans, Whoopie Goldber, Hemsworth and some others were also there.. a clip of his dancing was shown and Hemsworth was quite embarassed and Chris Evans couldn't stop laughing.... who is watching closely his dancing by the way ? We are just watching him and the cute little funny moves that he is making me laugh uncontrollably....grinning foolishly now
I wonder if he would’ve liked the American version of DWTS better? Lol. It seems more competitive and hyped than this Australian version. Plus the dancing from the pros show a huge difference as well.
I will say this though: he's SUPER tall and lithe, and he actually has a good body for a dancer. He's dorky and silly though, and it kind of shows through in his dancing a touch.
DWTS was usually the domain of celebrity 'has beens' and 'B Graders'. At the time young Chris Hemsworth very much fit the category of a B-Grade celebrity in Australia. Of those who actually knew who he was, most probably saw him as being part of that endless stream of young actors who appear in 'Home and Away' (a popular Australian soap opera) and then promptly disappear into obscurity forever. Whilst his dancing may have been average, one might have thought that he would benefit from the the usual strong 'Home and Away' fan votes as well as as votes from the overwhelmingly large female viewership of DWTS. He didn't and it appears all that those female viewers didn't see him as hot enough, famous enough or talented enough to get him any further than the middle rounds. These things did not bode well for any future stardom prospects. So the idea of him going on to be a world wide acting superstar would have seemed absolutely preposterous back then. Of course, today it seems absolutely preposterous and unbelievable that he did actually appear on that now defunct Australian version of Dancing With The Stars as a B-grade celebrity who happened to bomb out of the competition early.
Wow, I had no idea about this. I always thought Hemsworth would have easy way to go as female audiences tend to be fawned by his appearance. But reading your comment made me realise, well, every celeb's career, even if they were ended up voted as sexiest person alive by a magazine sometimes started off with this scenario, being overlooked and with the opposite image that now he/she has.
We was so lucky here in the UK to watch this series on our tv. However RU-vid brought the best bits to us so we can enjoy this fun dancing with the very sexy Chris ..
In wish they hadda put this in one of the MCU movies as like archive shield footage or it comes up on TV and tony sees it calls Thor and send it to him that would have been hilarious!!!
This was on the Australian version of Dancing With The Stars in 2006. At the time Chris was 19 and starring in the Australian tv drama series Home And Away.
“welcome back from wherever you’re watching whether it’s on your couch in australia or in hospital” *is watching it on youtube in england in my bedroom*
