I dedicate this beautiful song to my late wife. She was taken from me way too soon. She left me with two amazing sons. God, I miss you Koren! Thank you for the 16 best years of my life.
@@lovetruepink8140 centerstaging musical Productions Los Angeles California 2006 the band was rehearsing for the upcoming tour Chris had it filmed and recorded to evaluate the band it was never planned to be released to the public thankfully it was cheers
Agreed. If I closed my eyes, and did an A/B comparison between this vid and the original studio version, I'd pick the video version. The sound engineer totally knocked this out of the park!
Unbelievable that this recording was made as a song check before a LIVE performance in front of a huge audience! They recorded it just to ensure they were all ready, sound was up to par, etc! It’s so raw but beautifully haunting! I would LOVE to see one of his LIVE performances!
It may be one of the best songs ever...it's flawless nothing is overdone and nothing is missing. Not too short, not too long, it's a modern masterpiece.
I did that once…..played it over and over and over again……won’t say what I was doing…..but it was memorable! 😮 Best song EVER!!! Just saw him in Santa Rosa, CA a few months ago. He’s amazing…..always has been!
I worked years as a Bylaw Enforcement Officer and was called many times over the years to bands playing in backyards. I never shut one down because I always thought of the great music we missed that never made radio play when I was a kid. I'd hang out for a while and listen then ask them to turn it down just a little. I could spend all day in this backyard listening to Nick Stone and the Shifty Hunchbacks.
I think this is very very close to the way James Wisley originally played it. Over time I think the band has sometimes played and arranged it differently. There are a few versions dotted about on RU-vid, played by Isaak's band. Either that or I'm just imagining I hear differences! I think this is a very authentic to the Silvertone roots. Yea I agree, its a haunting kinda tune, definitely brilliant!
The most haunting song I can think of.The opening guitar sets the tone perfectly. The ache in Chris’s voice just says what it feels to lose the one you love.
Oh God, I know what it is to lose the love of my life. And she wants absolutely nothing to do with me. I can't blame her for ending our marriage. Love my ex-wife Camilla.
This feels like a piece of lost media inexplicably resurfacing after two decades lost on an archive tape somewhere. Wonderful live performance of a superb track, solid performances from everyone.
Always in a state of shock over how clean the sound is on this song. On top of superb picking..the people running sound on this are ingenius. The clarity is unsurpassed!

I remember busking in the 80's and playing guitar, to this track, and my mate sang, it always went down an absolute storm, seems like a lifetime ago now, thanks Mr Isaak xx
This is easily the best recording of wicked game on the internet. Even the versions on spotify have NOTHING on this recording. Bravo to Chris, the band and the sound engineer!! Top notch :-)
You gotta give credit to your sound engineers and your light guys. Without them you are not seen or heard. I agree this is a great version but theres a compilation out there of this song where it shows him through the decades. I feel like this song is only getting better the older chris gets.
This song is timeless and Chris' beautiful and distinctive voice is carried by the virtuoso and unmistakable guitar playing of James Calvin Wilsey (RIP) 🍻 This guitarist here did a very good job 🍻
Boy, oh boy, I've probably listened to tens of thousands of songs on You Tube, and this is by far the sharpest recording of any live song I've listened to on this platform. The sound engineering makes this song sound like you are listening to it live. Every vocal and musical chord is so sharp and clear.
Real talent right there sounds exactly like the recorded version. No autotune or other vocals to enhance his. This song will be a forever classic in my playlist
I always assumed some studio magic was involved in the original radio version of this song, specifically pertaining to the lead vocals. Seeing how effortlessly yet perfectly Chris sings it live is beyond impressive.
so did I until I learnt to play it. Never going to sound as good as these guys, but it is surprisingly do-able to do a decent sounding job. The hard part is to not rush and feel the timing of everything. And it is really fun to play. Singing it though, not so easy, haha!!
@@cloudthegoodkatch For sure not, guess you havent seen his performance on MTV Unplugged, no tuners involved son. And it's even better on unplugged, was abit younger aswell so that might be it.
Being a musician (drummer), I so want to say that the percussionist playing in the live clip has a great sense of orchestration. The sound of shakers along with the bass drum tone and the snare which I believe is played through a brush and not sticks is so soothing and sits just well along the song !
Saw him live 12 years ago....believe me, the sound is amazing, and he is so damn entertaining. Don't forget, he has dozens of other hits too. If I get a chance to see him again, I'll go.
As a teenager I used to listen to it all the time. A spent all my pocket money of the month to buy the record. I still have it. This song represents for me my melancholic youth. Still love it.
When a musician plays it like the original recording is a true musician! No butchering of the song here! That single coil sound of that strat man ! Love it!
I want to say thanks for all the warm comments and likes... Oh well since I got too many messages over at my blue print account so I decided to isolate myself here and reach at to few of my fans without you I wouldn't have been here today. Kisses 💋to your lovely heart
This song still gets me emotional... more than 30 years... we still insist on falling in love.... wicked...but needed... to everyone around here, may 2022... God bless you all... beautiful souls
The artists who make music like this have given the entire world an everlasting gift . I can listen to this and connect with it no matter what mood I’m in
After all these years living here in San Francisco it still stuns me that his voice still stuns me! Supernatural countertenor perfect pitch with incomparable reaches and successful grasps! Having had the jewels of good luck of seeing (as well as hearing!) him and his band perform live in and around San Francisco, I count those experiences among my few reminders that I indeed have been one lucky soul!
I've long ago outgrown tearjerker love songs. Genetic material copies itself, we're life forms, I get it, big fucking deal. But this is GOOD art! These dudes are talented as fuck, making me like to listen to a type of song I normally can't stand anymore :)
Agreed. But in saying so, you should check out James Vincent McMorrow’s cover and see how it makes you feel. Not many words to describe it, but it definitely does the original justice.
Hands down one of the greatest ballads of all time. I was a 12 year old metal head when this came on MTV and the video stopped me in my tracks every time it came on. I mean sure Helena Christensen was easy on the eyes but the song was beautifully haunting. Stands the test of time.
Back in the eighties I had just returned from an evening out at a piano and jazz bar in the Atlanta area where I met the most enchanting woman of my life and this was playing on MTV. I had never heard it before and it blew me away. The evening and morning we spent together was something that changed and matured me as a young man in my twenties and she was much older than me. I never saw her again after that chance encounter. I think of her when I hear this and I think of what could've been, but I don't think I could have handled it. Some part of me held out through the years hoping to duplicate that magical chemistry with someone else and it took me many years to realize it was never going to happen..
I found this song back then when I was going through very difficult time, my mother past away and I had guilt to not being a good son, the same time my Ex left me, this song was the only way for me to cry, because no matter what I do my tears never come out, I'm very hard hearted man I never cry but,,, That time I need to cry and I was alone and I needed to help my self I needed to let out all the pain,, this song was such and excellent medicine for me, everytime when I heard this song my heart just melt, So thank you so much for posting this and thank you for the singer I don't even know his name for singing this excellent song,, I also want to say that life is cruel and sometime thing never change, we hope things will be okay but that never happens you stay alone you stay being treated like shit,, in the end we have to accept that some of us people are not lucky enough to have people in our life who care about us, some of just have to accept that not matter how much we give and how much we love and care and sacrifice but in the end no one care,,,💔
My name is also Chris, and if ever I would’ve been a singer/musician-these are the perfect words, melody along with falsetto talent, that I could’ve ever dreamed of. Much respect forever-
Simply the BEST sound mixing I’ve heard on a live band ,you can hear every individual instrument which absolutely makes a difference instead of a ‘wall of sound’ …great song by a great artist accompanied by great musicians
Im not gonna sit here and let you slander the Wall of Sound and by extension the late great Owsley Stanley. Aka Bear, the mad scientist, audio technician and LSD chemist that rolled with the Grateful dead in the 60's and 70's. He may have been in jail for the creation of the Wall of Sound. But his work was certainly the inspiration, and the result was the loudest and clearest sound mix ever produced at a live event. Then a few years later advancements in audio tech made it outdated and the wall came down.
I wasn’t referring to that ,I simply meant that when a mix isn’t done properly, all you hear is a garbled mess leading to a ‘wall of sound’ from which you can’t distinguish who’s playing what etc ….sorry for any confusion caused 👍
This song involves just about all of the senses. Blows through you like a cool breeze... I'm reading the various comments. All are correct. Music is amazing.
