@@roxannenoel4065 I watched the entire segment and John Cena is right. When WWF and WCW were both around usually you made it big in at least one of the companies. For example lex Luger didn't do much in WWF but he was world champion in wcw. Chris Kanyon is one of the few wrestlers to flop hard in both wrestling companies. And before you make it a gay issue remember he was definitely far from out of the closet during wcw.
You both have it wrong, go back and listen to Scott Hall's shoot interview with kayfabe commentaries, he and everybody else understood Vince McMahon was actually a rainbow
I think John Cena didn't understand the Kanyon's struggle. If he fully did, maybe he wouldn't say "He's no good". That guy innovated so many moves that are still used today, including the Flatliner.
Cena thought Kanyon wasnt good at entertaining people. Not that he wasn't good at wrestling. We all know the most memorable wrestlers were usually very simple in the ring.
This is true, I thought Kanyon was great. He had a unique voice and cadence when he spoke. I was always captivated. "who better than Kanyon?" I thought he had everything needed to be a big star, he was just never booked as such. Upper mid-card just below main eventer for sure.

For John Cena to say that is BS. Kanyon is the guy who came up with the move John Cena uses. Kanyon did that AA move in WCW but they called it the Soaman Drop Powerslam

I don’t even watch wrestling anymore haven’t for 13 years, but I have watched every episode of dark side of the ring. Its an amazing series definitely give it a watch.
Kanyon could entertain and was a hell of a performer, I can believe Vince and his cronies did black ball Chris cause he was gay. Look what they tried to have the Revival do before their contract expired, but those guys were down with it and just rode it out and now they’re considered one of the greatest tag team in history. Kanyon could’ve went big, even as big as the three move Cena, but again the old man must’ve had it out for him from the beginning.
Kanyon was one of my favorite wrestlers to watch in WCW he always had great matches and was always very aware of where the hard cam was at all times John Chaina doesn't even know wtf he's talking about

Cena criticizing anyone for their wrestling ability is laughable. Kanyon was a fantastic wrestler during his WCW days. Unfortunately for Kanyon, his affiliation with WCW was what did him in at WWE. Like a lot of mid card WCW talent he was made an example out of by McMahon and creative and not given the opportunity to excel. Also, there's no way they had a gay guy act like Boy George due to coincidence. It was meant to embarrass him.

Cena apologized to communist China because he once defended Taiwan until it affected his Hollywood career. You do know China owns much if the movie industry in the US, don't you? It's only seen as scummbaggy because of how Kanyons story ended. He just said the guy wasn't very good. Every wrestler had said it about another wrestler. Chris Jericho said it about all of NXT recently so surely hes a scumbag too then

John Cena is not a jerk. John Cena has a gay brother. John was giving his opinion about Chris. Chris Kanyon was not a moneymaker and maybe if he was more confident with his homosexuality he would have been more positive. He could’ve helped other gay wrestlers but Chris was ashamed of his homosexuality. John Cena is a nice guy and I think he probably would have said his opinion on Chris in a different way.

The wwe force fed cena to the fans for 20 years. I loved the wrestling of 80s NWA myself. Al Perez, flair, Ron Garvin, Barry windham and many more. Can't see how cena was ever over except for the young kids.

that is such bullshit! I remember Cena saying Kanyon wasn't very good. I agree that he didn't exactly know the best time to use moves. sometimes he went out there just to show he knew how to do crazy moves, but that doesn't mean he wasn't extremely entertaining. "Who better than Kanyon?!" was so entertaining & just the tip of what he could do to entertain fans.
Chris was arguably one of the best in ring workers of that time. He wasn't a great character guy but to say he wasn't any good? Cena toting the company line.
I don't necessarily fault Cena for saying those things. He was Vince's golden child and face of the company. He has to say things that Vince wants in order to keep his job. Of course he would defend his job

I know nothing about this. I have no opinion on this matter. My best guess is everyone is right.... in some warped view. Look at Cena during the exchange with Howard. While Howard is talking Cena blinks once, slowly. ( he's focused) Then when he starts talking he's blinking a lot! Blinking is stressed. I can't say John is lying, but I can say if Chris was just "not good" John's stress level did rise quite a bit, for just relaying a "factual piece of info". I don't know the story but looking at John there's more to it than that.

Kanyon was talented but i don't think Vince is homophobic. Pat Patterson was gay all his and he was treated love and respect. Kanyon probably just had a falling out it Vince and never patched things up.
If Vince McMahon is a homophobe why would he have kept Pat Patterson in such a high position for so long? Probably just didn't want to give any push to former WCW guys. Ability in the ring was never as high a requirement for Vince as being able to woo the kiddy fan base. That's probably what Cena meant.
