@@davestephens3246 you still dont get what I was saying. If it's a good impersonation you should be able to say literally anything in that voice and people know who you're impersonating. Jake Roberts could have read his fucking grocery list and people would have known who it was. You have to have the gravelly voice to do Savage and the lisp to do Dusty. What I said was had he not given context or used specific words to give it away you wouldn't know who Eric was impersonating because the voice wasn't even close.
I've listened to that story so many times, it's a CLASSIC! Jake's impression of the Macho Man had me in tears and you can tell Joe Rogan enjoyed it too.
Bischoff: "Anybody can impersonate Randy" He then proceeds to do the worst impersonation, and ends up sounding more like a poor Hulk Hogan impersonation lol.
@@tonyparra6502 Yeah, I can actually think of maybe 5 people who *really* have the Macho Man voice right; Dan Soder, Jake Roberts and Bruce Prichard that we see here, Jason Sensation and Jay Lethal. To the very least that's the top 5. There's probably more but I'll never say "anybody" can do it though.
Everyone keeps saying "brother" as if Randy Savage ever said it, or at least often, when in fact, he said "man". It's as if they are doing everything from fuzzy memory and insert Hogan in by mistake.
In the early 80's Randy Savage lived in my hometown - He worked out at a place called Sin The's - I would watch him through the window from the main entrance while he was curling a huge amount of weight on a straight bar. The guy was jacked and very strong. One time after working out - I was in the hot tub they had there and Randy got in it with me - just him and me. I was like holy shit!! My mother was a barber back then and she would trim his beard. He was extremely nice and loved kids. One time mom said he went out to his car and came back with an 8x10 picture of him and signed it for one of the kids there. Straight up good dude. I miss him..
There was no like Randy Savage, there will never be anyone like Randy Savage. He was a one off & I'm blessed I got to enjoy seeing a man as legendary & unique as Randy 'Macho Man" Savage, it was truly a blessing. Thank You Randy.
Savage is always left out of the "Mt Rushmore" talks, but he's the most talented, successful, and unique wrestler I can think of. He literally could be a top star in ANY era, any promotion, with ZERO changes to his character. In many ways, he was/is the GOAT
Totally agree with that, I think he actyally catapulted Hulks career in some fashion. I thought his personality was just top notch and super funny and entertaining.
@@BENNYB-ze4dw Without Piper, and later Savage...The Hulk Hogan gimmick that we all remember wouldn't have reached the heights that it did. It was Andre at WM3, for sure...But Piper and Savage were the real bookends to Hulks rise in WWF
And how do you know he's always left out of the Mt Rushmore talk, you base your comment on what exactly?? Because I've seen several people that consider him to be on that mount Rushmore, by fans and a few wrestlers as well. He's easily one of the most memorable and recognizable wrestler of all time, of course he's going to be on several Mt Rushmore.
I haven't watched wrestlin' in decades, I hate to see these guys getting old, and I hate the idea that some are no longer with us. I never idolized these guys, but they were a part of my life in the early 80s to late 90s. As with anyone that spends that long in your life, you miss them. My all time favorite though has got to be "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan. I'm happy that DDP got Jake off the drugs also. So long guys, I appreciate all the hell you all put your body's through to keep me entertained.
I wasn't even born during Randy Savage's Golden years but man when I look back into history he's hands down my favorite dude of that era. Flair is second and Hogan was okay but SAVAGE? A whole vibe 😎
Had we plugged Randy into the power grid in 1973, OPEC would have gone running w it's tail between it's legs, his intensity could re start a battle ship..
@Sith Jawa Generally that's true, but does it still count as smoking it if it's out of a bong? And what about marijuana brownies? If you're smoking those, you've got a serious problem... :)
Man, it absolutely touches my heart to see, and hear, so many people remembering Randy Savage with such great fondness. Randy Savage was a huge part of my life growing up, so that makes watching this that much more gratifying. Of course, I too had my own Macho Man impression. And I gotta say, it was pretty good!
@@jimbobcheezeburger2020 You are right! Accolades and expressions of love mean nothing to those who are no longer here. You are absolutely right, my friend!
I do a pretty decent Macho Man impression to cause I have a similar Basey Depth to my Voice although my Voice isn't as Deep as Macho Mans but it's Close.
I find funny how everyone bases their imitation in one or many of Savage mannerisms. Jake Roberts has the neck tension, Bruce Prichards the lip biting. Macho was so complete he gave for so many different impersonations yet all of them remid of him.
We saw him working out a few times at the local YMCA here in Frankfort, KY. He seemed to be an OK guy, didn't see the show he put on in front of the cameras. This was about mid-1980s and he hadn't made it super-big yet, he was probably visiting Ms. Elizabeth's family and it was the only gym in town. I went to high school with her brother John but never realized his sister was with Macho Man.
Honestly, all of those were really good impressions. I mean, not perfect, because that's impossible, but still... it's like he lives through the impressions.
If you wanna hear someone that actually sounds like they were possessed by Macho Man, look up comedian Dan Soder. I guarantee you will not be disappointed 😃
Bischoffs was not good lol. Jimmy's...well no. Scott halls timing good. Voice not quite right. Prichard and Roberts though...Damn Good. Roberts has a voice issue. Quite raspy. Considering that his was truly great. But Bruce Prichard you could tell he knew Savage really well on a personal level. He had everything down including the casual stuff. 10/10 Only Jason Sensation could best him. And it would have to be his best ever impersonation. Edit...and the dude from Impact. He does an amazing Macho Man and Ric Flair. I just can't remember his name but he's an awesome wrestler. Edit Jay Lethal. Dude is crazy good at Flair and Savage. He did a whole gimmick where he was a Black Macho Man named Black Machismo. Some time later he had a wooo off with Flair in a promo where he .....WAS Ric Flair arguing with Ric Flair. Just hilarious stuff.
@@joshuaa1605 He had a real voice. Lanny talked about it on Macho Man DVD from WWE in 2014 and that there was another old wrestler that sounded like that and Randy copied it.
@@joshuaa1605well yes he did take that. But there was a interview Randy did in 2000 or 2001 and he has another voice. The voice he was using in the interview sounded kind of like HBK and even had Shawn's laugh a little. Wish I could find the interview I remember him talking about The Rock and Smackdown in the interview
When Jake does it I am picturing Savage being right there, also great to see Lanny being so cool about it and telling stories, it must be hard on him. 👌🏿💪🏿🙏🏿
I saw Randy in a Holiday Inn in Fort Meyers Florida in the early/mid 2000s, the man was never playing a "character" he was always Randy Savage. He was also 20' tall to me who saw him with the same eyes as an adult that I saw him wrestle as a child in the 1980s.
Joe Manganiello does an incredible Macho Man impression. I don't know if he's done it anywhere else, but I heard it on a bonus episode of a D&D podcast. It was uncanny.
My favorite wrestler of all time. He was simply the best. A legend and an icon of wrestling. He deserved much better in his prime of his career. RIP Randy Macho Man Savage aka Poffo
My mom and dad were able to pay to have Randy Savage, come to my birthday party with his championship belt. Geez what a sweet sweet man, miss Elizabeth was a sweet sweet woman!! They ate and made themselves apart of the party. Let me say at first Randy didn't want to eat. Not because he didn't feel comfortable, but because he didn't want to take food out of another kids mouth. When my dad finally convinced him we had enough to go around. They ate, they took pictures and signed autographs for everyone at the party. You couldn't ask to meet a better pair. They were both just genuine and humble, he was never that intense at my birthday party. So for everyone to say he was always intense. I never saw that, I saw a sweet sweet human with his beautiful sweet sweet wife!!
Once upon a time, I ran into Randy at a local strip club after a WCW show. I got the courage to go up and shake his hand and ask to get a pic taken together, and I'll never forget the 4 words spoken to me as only the Macho Man could speak. "Uh huh." "Yeah." "Cool." And those are the things I still use for my Randy impression, some 20+ years later.
Randy was and is still my favourite of all time. Nobody even got close. He was all Randy. I can’t even imagine him as anything different in or out of the ring at home or alone. Ohh yeeeah . A tower of power. To hot to handle, to cold to hold.
Jake has it DOWN, in that doc with DDPP, he also tells stories of Randy in Randy voice, priceless. Someone should animate those stories and use the real wrestlers before they are gone.
I worked with Laney Pablo and I met his brother Macho Man before he passed great guys and what a great family it was truly an honor rest in peace Randy
Typical smark who hates anyone who’s been loyal to Vince. Where’s that same energy for your precious RVD and the Dudley boys for Paul heyman? How about Cody and Jericho for Tony Kahn?
@@robertstraw9881 You watch Aew so you really don’t know anything. Now go back to your dirtsheets and your wrestling forums with your warped internet mentality.
I like how Bischoff says anyone can do the impression and then proceeds to do a less-than-adequate rendition lol. No one comes close to Pritchard and Jake.
