Chris king stopped making this tool because of RU-vid idiots making videos about using this tool without reading instructions or UNDERSTANDING how it supposed to work! You all deserve a press fit bottom bracket!

For the record, the procedure shown is likely to eject and potentially warp the seal out of your BB. Experience taught me that. ;) Full procedure is remove c-clip, remove seal, clean them both w degreaser, use the tool, then clean/grease spindle, then reassemble.

Nice video! Looking forward to your review of the Rohloff speedhub! Any plans to do that soon?

Almost got this right and good job in getting the tool to seat properly before pumping grease. You missed the rotating the injector part. See step 5. From Chris King website: 1. Remove crank set assembly and spindle from BB according to crank set manufacturer’s instruction. 2. Remove BB bearing spindle sleeves (black plastic pieces) from the inner ring of both bottom bracket bearings by hand. If not removable by hand, carefully insert the tip of a small screwdriver or penknife under outer flange of BB bearing spindle sleeve and gently pry it out of the bearing using alternating prying locations. 3. Insert BB Injector Tool into bearing. 4. Attach grease gun tip to grease fitting on BB Injector Tool. 5. While continuously pressing the BB Injector Tool into the bearing to form a seal, slowly pump small amounts of synthetic waterproof grease into the bearing. Between pumps, turn the bearing by rotating the injector tool back and forth. This motion allows the new grease to be evenly distributed within the bearing, and to completely purge the old grease and contaminants through the front seal. This motion also helps prevent the black rubber seal from accidentally dislodging. 6. Wipe purged grease from bearing surface. 7. Reinstall bearing spindle sleeve by pressing the sleeve back into bearing’s inner race by hand.

Chris King specifies using synthetic grease in their bearings; not whatever tub happens to be lying close by.

Unfortunately this is not how you service a king bb... The grease coming out is fresh, it's not coming from the bearing.. After taking the plastic washer off you need to remove the snap and seal from the top of the bearing, the snap is quite fiddly, best done with a new knife blade - try not to bend as you will to replace. Then you will see the actual cage of bearings. Take the rubber o ring off the tool, slide it in, pump and turn the injector. Grease should push from behind outwards towards you. Wipe off the excess, clean the seal with some gt85, gently slot it in then another fiddle to neatly get the snap in. - it's important that this sits in properly otherwise can become dislodged and cause damage. Hope that helps!

The video follows the instructions in the Chris King manual for servicing with the injector tool exactly. Your instructions are for manual bearing service without the injector. The definitive instructions are on chrisking.com (go to support, then bottom bracket instruction manuals, and then in this case threadfit 24.).

I disagree, the "service" you have done is pointless... none of the grease has passed into the bearing...

Actually, if you look at the first appearance of the grease, its blackish and dirty. Mine certainly was. The ports of the tool lineup on the back of the bearing, pushing the old grease towards the outside of the bearing. A very clever design and one of the reasons the CK BB has a life time warranty.

The sauce: chrisking.com/files/public/content/media/document/7/d/threadfit_24_manual_10-16_final.pdf 1. This is actually how you service the BB with the injector tool. You can also service the BB bearings much like you service King hub bearings, removing the snap-ring and seal flushing the bearings out with wd-40 etc.....but you would probably have to remove the cups from the bike.

by not removing the seal the seal ming come off. you did not remove the retaining ring & seal. You a pick or a thin screwdriver to remove the retaining ring, carefully remove the seal, insert the tool.
