@@rudewalrus5636 None of these "experts" will admit they were wrong about "you never take a RB in the 1st round" Brad Holmes has done an absolute masterclass in the draft in getting guys that fit our culture and strengthening our soft spots. This year free agency and draft I think we need to go for a lockdown corner and get another pass rusher to help out Hutch, our Offense is good all the way down to the trenches, get better on D and we could be VERY scary. (I love Hendon Hooker too, feel like he can save us if Goff ever goes down from injury and has to miss some time he can hold it down) and who knows in a few years that guy could be our starter because Teddy Bridgewater is retiring after this year so we might bring in someone else too.

Still in disbelief, what a week it has been for those of us who are die-hard UofM and Lions fans. What a great capper to an otherwise disappointing NFL wild card weekend. I still can't believe it was Matthew Stafford who the Lions had to go through to vanquish their playoff demons, and then they actually did it. I still can't shake myself out of the heartbreak and disappointment of the past 25 years of watching every Lions game. I fully expected a heroic last second drive by Stafford, but the defense held, and the offense delivered when it mattered most. I'm floating.
@kevinmach730

I was waiting for the Rams to light it up also. There was ample evidence it was in the works on those last few drives where they seemed very capable in replicating 5-15 yard offensive gains (maybe a deliberate bend/don't break strategy by the Det coaching staff). But the Lions D locked it down when it mattered. What an epic effort from both teams.

Been a die hard Rams fan for 55 years. The game is 60 minutes long. There will always be blown calls and no calls. Rams D was brutal the first half...lights out the second half. Needed to play the first half like the second half. Three trips to the red zone...3 FG's. That does not cut it during playoff football. Back in late October if you told me the Rams would be in the playoffs, in a game down 1 with 4 minutes to go, with the ball and a chance to win, I would have told you "you are crazy".

@@stronghold07ptx85 I can see why you'd say that, especially today. The only pushback I would give is that the Lions would have certainly had success with Stafford if they had had Brad Holmes, Sheila Ford-Hamp, and Dan Campbell running things. From Stafford's perspective it has to be a little upsetting to see how quickly the Lions turned it around. It's so rare for a trade of starting QBs to work out so well for both sides. If Stafford had this o-line and this coaching staff for his 12 years in Detroit, the Lions could have 2-3 Super Bowl rings.

why are the only miss call people seem to point out are the ones against Detroit? The Rams Db hooked Reynold's arm and shifted his entire body making so he couldn't make a play on the ball. That play was a 3rd down, and if he caught that pass it would have been a first down.

That wasn’t anywhere near as blatant as the roughing the passer that caused the rams to lose 4 points the amount of roughing on stafford that went uncalled that was worse than what Goff got was unbelievable, or the guy holding puka jersey down to the floor when he went up for the ball that caused the rams to lose 3 points, the only two times the rams punted this game were off of missed PI, and I’d get into holding but both sides were bad but the lions capitalized on it with two tds, people talk about the rams calls because this crew has made 3 terrible game ending calls vs the rams the last 3 games they officiated, this one, the game with the Steelers with the terrible ball spot, and if your a lions fan I’m sure you remember the Seattle rams game last year that booted you from the playoffs
@phillipgreen8180
@phillipgreen8180 4 месяца назад
@itsswink7785 none of that is true of course. On the first Rams td the rams not the lions were aided by two very questionable calls, without those calls they wouldn't have scored. The refs also were more flag happy to held the rams with minor contact, whereas the rams dbs got away with significantly more contact. Two missed calls against the lions wouldn't have changed the outcome if all the calls against the Rams were made that should have. It would have been significant more lopsided in the score department.

@@phillipgreen8180 what? The only bad call against the lions was the neutral zone infraction, literally everything else was accurately called, the lions rush attack was unstoppable until the ref started calling holding, then all of a sudden the lions tightened up and their rush attack fell, that’s not a coincidence, hoecht literally got dragged down by his jersey at one point and it went uncalled for a decent run, I sat in a room full of lions fans because I’m from Detroit and not one complained about the rams dbs maybe other than like one instance if I’m correct there’s a reason the rams are 0-3 against the lions steers, and Seattle in the span of one year with this ref crew

I think it's so much better for them right now to build some confidence and character in the post season-winning a tough opening game- than it would be if they went out and destroyed the Rams like the Packers did to Dallas. I've tried to keep my expectations realistic this season, thinking maybe we will have a Super Bowl contender in a few years. But after this game and the way it went down? All fouls calls should be personal fouls like for instance the blow to the head on Matthew Stafford and the dirty low blow on Higbee! Those hits were dirty and life threatening! The NFL needs to let them play and quit calling these weak holding calls!

Love hearing about the Nacua penalty. Keep bringing it up. After decades of unfair officiating I'm going to bask in the tears. Sucks to suck. This is what lions fans have experienced for too long.

Sure it technically was a penalty on Puca, but my goodness would that have been a weak call. Jamo catch has a defense tackling him before he caught it. ARSB same situation, far more egregious than that right there on Puca.

I see a lot of complaining from both sides on missed calls. It's quite simply, the refs let the players play. It was a physical game where the game was officiated evenly. Lions win 24-23. Great game!

I was biting my nails, figuratively, because I think that gets called in the regular season 1000% of the time. That being said they were letting them play for the most part. There were pass interferences and holds that didn't get called against detroit. They even highlighted hutch getting held in like a splinter cell fashion one play. I don't feel bad for rams fans. They got one two years ago for the non-existent transplant fan base of the team formerly known as the st. Louis rams.

Im so f'in tired of the whining of about the non call hold, so i guess ill join the party. The blatant offsides not called, multiple LITERAL head locks Hutchinson had put on him, multiple blatant holds by rams o line not called...But its only pointed out when it benefits the Lions, who have been SCREWED FOR YEARS by the officiating... DETROIT VS EVERYBODY... everyone else can take a long walk off a short plank

Chris Long seems to focus too much on how the Rams should/could have won the game. The score was tight and the Rams only lost by 1 point. But if the Rams had gotten a FG at the end, or a TD (they couldn't get a TD in the redbone all day - so what makes him think the Rams would do it with 4 minutes left in the game? And if the Rams had scored a TD, the Lions would have gotten the ball with almost 3 minutes left, all their TO's, and all of Goff's weapons ready to go for the final drive. It was a good game, but the Rams did not do enough to win it, and the Lions did. Not to be confused with the Week 17 game in which Dallas won by 1 point - but didn't deserve to! Karma's a bitch...

"buys time"??? This dude clearly doesn't have the first idea about the Lions front office and ownership. MCDC still has a losing record overall yet anyone with a brain cell from the stands to the front office would have extend him for five years even after the loss to the Bears. Everyone throws around buzzwords on shows like this, but the one I haven't heard come up yet is "generational" which is really what feels appropriate for this office and this owner. Lions are not going back

So Detroit's the lead? You going to mention a Lion's coach, or how tough Goff is and how much he's overcome or why you'd respect him more over time? WTH? Just another LA homer... only wanting to talk about the what the Ram's did... so tired of this narrative always being about the popular losers. No mention of how the Lion's D kept LA out of the end zone, instead it's about the Ram's failure. I've heard enough. You failed, Chris whoever you are.

Gifted the game😂😂 Goff barely broke a sweat, Donald was neutralized by double triple teaming and Rams had nobody else to pressure Goff. Stafford would've been sacked 3 or 4 more times easily, if not for the holding. Lions were the better team, Rams were hanging on for dear life the whole game.

Matt Stafford choked again, like always. Lions got conservative after Jared Goff scored 3 TDs the first 3 times Detroit had the ball. Even with the refs blowing/cheating on the Rams jumping offsides non-call there was never any doubt Lions were going to win.
