I really appreciate Chris's take on cooking: he's so careful and dedicated and uncompromising, but he also knows exactly how much effort the everyday cook is willing to put in.
Chris's level of enthusiasm for this recipe and during this entire video was adorable and contagious. It is so nice to seem him not being tortured by mystery cheese.
“Cake testers lie” - yep. You need a skewer or toothpick. With stainless steel testers, they’re too thin and batter or crumbs don’t always stick. That’s not the case with wood.
Chris: takes 7 seconds to sift cocoa "This is the most annoying thing ever" Also Chris: pulls out a saucepan just to heat milk with undivided attention
I made this for my mom’s bday with two tiers, a ganache coating and then the frosting on top and when I say that it changed me- IT CHANGED ME. A flawless recipe by Morocco
@@beth8775 i see what you mean but lots of kids don't like strong flavours. Particularly if they're not used to them (which most of the kids at my sons party wouldn't be). As an aside though, I made it and it was fine, my son had two slices so must have fit the bill haha
I think it's more of Chris saying "you don't have to do it my way - but you'd be really wrong". You don't want to do it, you think it's an unncecssary step, but yes, you do have to do it.
i've been impressing aunts with a variant of this cake for nigh on 5 years now, so it's great to see BA sharing my enthusiasm for this super simple oil based chocolate cake.
@@roo_s6330 because it is offensive but golden retrievers in particular are very likeable and known for being friendly, so some might still find it ok to joke around about that, as a result (in my opinion).
It was so freaking cute when Gaby started running back to her station to take off her jacket after Chris told her there was cake. Everyone needs a gaby in their life.
Made this for my moms birthday and she loved it! This cake is very rich and moist! The frosting is my favorite! I really like the texture of the cake and frosting after its been sitting in the fridge for a couple hours :) Makes the frosting thicker
Yes, Chris Morocco *would* develop the perfect recipe for his favourite cake for a perfect birthday cake for his own birthday. I appreciate that level of commitment towards perfection. 😂
I have made this cake twice now for my daughters birthday this week and it was amazing! I just changed half of the oil to melted butter and added 2 ounces of melted dark chocolate, both fir flavor enhancement. Its a beautiful recipe, not too sweet, delicious and fool-proof! I already tried at least 6 other chocolate cake recipes, but this is the one. Its not too dense, rich, sweet, greasy, bitter, crumbly, complicated, expensive or time consuming. Great job, Chris!!
Not sure if I made the recipe correctly. Everything was going great, but when I went to put the cake pan in the oven there wasn't already a finished cake in there. Did I do something wrong?
Am I the only one who loves it when Chris swears????? It's like, you would never expect this bambi of a man to drop the f-bomb and yet when he does, it makes so much sense.
I have tried and failed many times to make chocolate cake but this recipe is fool proof and easy to follow. And it’s the best chocolate cake ever. Everyone should try this cake.
Everyone thinks of Chris as this refined human because of his neatly attuned palate and deep, intellectual descriptions of food. I love him because he is just always teeming with sass. It's always bubbling just beneath the surface.
Pedro Azevedo Yamin the point is not stress, Claire did a very expense and clear cake baking and decorating series which involves frosting a cake a Chris throw that out of the window and did his thing 😂
I've searched far and wide online for different chocolate cake recipes but almost always end up choosing to make this one instead again and again. A touch of espresso in the dry ingredients and the best quality veggie oil/dutch-cocoa/chocolate chips you can afford really elevates the richness of the cake since you're only really using a handful of ingredients.
@@samayazia5033 they have on the link in the website as well in the description. But it’s 40-50 minutes and you turn the cake half way through the baking time to get an even bake.
Would actually be good to make a massive batch of the dry stuff and keep it in an airtight container, and then figure out the wet ingredient proportion. E.g. 2 cups of dry needs + 1 egg + 1/2 cup of veg oil and milk. And then just adjust depending on the amount of batter you want to make. Someone grab a calculator!
That's what i thought!! I never know when or how the brad-delany thing started, but chris always been snarky whenever he made a cameo on it's alive. Later on i learned that it's just chris being chris lol
@@jessboo173 I love the "DELANEY!" stuff. I think it's one huge joke (per the Try Everything episode they did together), but I have to admit that I get sad when they are actually amicable to each other. Bring back the fake rivalry!!
I just made it as a beginner baking a cake for the first time! I used Oat Beverage instead of regular milk, I also didn't have any other oil except for olive oil so I used that. Besides the hint of olive oil of the finished product, it's one of the most perfect cake I've ever had! The cake itself really is reasy to make, but the topping took a lot of time of effort and time for me. The whole thing took about 3 hours but it was well worth it! So light and fluffy!
I'm 14 seconds in and I can safely say Chris is now one of my favorite BA test kictchen chefs! He's made so many cameos in the past several videos and I've loved all of them! This is also literally the quickest I've clicked on a video notification EVER. 😊👌
I made this and it was way too good. The cake was perfectly moist. I couldn’t stop eating it, the frosting isn’t too sweet but it’s enough to get you hooked to take another bite 😭
Iko Daran The sweetness is ok with me, I use only 1 cup of sugar. Have alway used lesser sugar than the recipe calls for. I make this recipe all the time now. It is quick and easy to put together. It is going into my recipe notebook.
-I've made this recipe for 3 birthdays during March/April Quarantine 2020. It's fantastic! I add a tablespoon of instant coffee when making the ganache and the coffee flavor really balances the tanginess of the cream cheese. This is my go-to birthday cake. Minimum fuss, thanks Chris!
Y’all please make this cake! I only did a ganache frosting cause I didn’t have cream cheese but it still came out perfect! Its soooo moist and flavourful and tastes a lot like the Starbucks chocolate cake
I'm not a chocolate cake person and after I saw this video, I really wanted it so I made it yesterday and it turned out amazing. It's chocolatey, moist, and so simple! Thanks for the recipe!
I've made this cake about 10 times now. I followed the instructions on the website and it's such an interesting method. I have to admit that I halve the amount of sugar and the cake doesn't miss anything. It's really moist (I hate that word) and chocolaty and it stays moist for about a week (could be longer but it's never lasted longer than that in my house)
