I'm just lost for words. God surely is working through, and with this man. My son committed suicide at 26, and my baby brother at 37. In that moment I know they just wanted the pain to stop, but not to die. God bless any family that has been touched by the horrible disease of depression. It's more that some can bare. Thank you Chris Stapleton. God bless you.

You are truly a vessel from the LORD. This video has demonstrated the battles and on-going war with mental health like no other. When tough, grown men cry watching it, you know it’s true. We are at war with our own souls - we sometimes win battles, though. Thank God for the right doctor and medications to quiet the ghosts in my mind.

If I ever get to meet you, I will cry a lot, shake your hand, and thank you for putting this uncomfortable, unexplainable disorder out there. We are always looking for ways to explain our behavior and our disorder to the 'non afflicted' until someone 'finally gets it'. You've shown both sides, the afflicted and those affected by our mental illness (in my case Bipolar 1 Disorder with rage) perfectly, painfully, and beautifully. Mental illness is so hard to diagnose and treat that we give up. We lose hope of ever being 'normal'. When you lose hope, you lose everything. Without the hope of getting better, why fight to live? At the highest of our highs, the world is ours, we can fly, we are invincible. At the lowest of our lows, we have tunnel vision and can only see one way out. It's not a choice. We don't want to die. We just don't want to live like this. After facing Hell head on, I admitted myself (for the 3rd time) and finally found my hope. I've been stable for 2.5 years now. I'm one of the lucky ones who found the right treatment. My heart breaks for those who don't find their hope.

You explained that so vividly, thank you. I'm an undiagnosed bipolar person, I know I am depressed, but now it's just like you said...the highest highs & lows that are a nightmare. I hope you're okay friend & you're not alone! Much love, Stephanie

Oh how I wish I could Meet Chris. I could never thank him enough for his music he has released especially this song and video. I've struggled with suicidal depression most of my life. This hits home on so many levels and so hard to watch. I ugly cry so hard everytime I hear and see this song. I'm so grateful he threw out this notion and this video is here. Feels like we have an ally I wish I had in my family.

I just came across the video for Fire Away today and have listened to it ALL DAY. I've been watching reactors react to it... many of them brought to tears. Chris says all he brought was a notion. It took an article in the Washington Post to find this song. I've suffered for 15 years Oct. 10, 2005, from PTSD, TBI, severe depression and so many other things I can't even explain. Yet, in one video- it tells the story of how my fiance deals with the daily struggles of depression, ups and downs we struggle with. In one video- it showed how isolated one person can feel. In one video- it shows how desperate two people can suffer.

As a person who has attempted once as a teen and a few years ago after my last kid left for college and dealing with mental illness my whole life compacted with the loss of my youngest son. Then the loss of my mother to suicide. This song hits home and then some. On this side of the spectrum being the one who is bipolar. Some people will never truly understand, it's hard to even understand myself sometimes. One thing I do know is people like myself are very difficult to love or feel loved. Btw I am someone who never comments on anything. First time ever on here. It's so hard to watch the effects on others when I go through my lows.

Your comment is 3 years old so sorry for being late but I had to write something. I know life sucks most of the times, I have some issues sometimes too but just try to think about the ones that love you first. It's not easy but at the same time it's not that hard too. You said you lost your mother to suicide, so you know what it is to live something like that, and I'm sure you wouldn't like to know that your own kids go through that too. I hope you're doing fine right now, take care Marquitta. See you soon.

WOW, just WOW. I've loved this song for years, first time seeing this video. The actual video of the song is probably one of the best "music videos" EVER, I don't need to explain why, you are all here for the same reason of, what a great song. I will say though, if you have a good song, manage to get good actors and a good director/producer, what can go wrong.

On behalf on what`s left of me and my family ...thank you! Whether you set out to touch someone or not, and regardless of your initial intent, your music touches people in ways you can`t possibly anticipate. This one really hits home for me specifically, and it`s my hope that maybe ...just maybe it gives a moment of pause to those who may be considering suicide as a possible way out. Regardless of your personal identity and circumstances, you are a gift to someone! KEEP FIGHTING ...KEEP FIGHTING FOR YOURSELF OBVIOUSLY, BUT ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE YOU`LL LEAVE BEHIND! For all those involved in this video, thank you! Chris I`m sorry to say that until roughly a year ago I didn`t even know your name, which is probably just the way you like it. You don`t strike me as a needing or wanting the limelight type of guy. Well I damn sure know you and your music now ...and it`s become a treasured gift! May God hold you and yours in the palm of his hand always!Your Friend always, Drew

Thankfully I was blessed with an amazing doctor and family who support me unconditionally...I don't think I could EVER take the path shown in the video. I've seen the affect it has on those left behind by people I know who have committed suicide...it's crushing. Ben speaks of "false truths" that one can "adopt". That is not always the case. As a survivor of more than one failed attempt, I've lived with the effects, or lack there of, on the lives of those around me. Not only does the failure give some a feeling of "I can't even do that right", but in some cases, it highlights a deficit of friends, family, etc. in the aftermath. Clearly that is not the message in this beautiful video, but it should be considered in discussions about people that try or do take their own lives.

I'm 45, and this Song hits way too close to home for me...😥 As someone who has survived 3 suicide attempts (the 1st time that I survived, I was actually angry at my husband for days), with my husband of 25 years, finding me in comas twice, he's saved my life, many times, and is still trying to help me fight my inner demons..I know it is so hard for him, and our 3 adult children...I've been living with chronic pain for over 20 years, lost my leg; from a Strep A infection in my foot, had 13 abdominal surgeries, among others (25 total & almost died too many times to count), and with all of my pain, diseases, disabilities (I'm unable to wear a prosthetic, so I'll never walk again), having CPTSD, anxiety, and chronic depression, I do get the strong beliefs of worthlessness, being a burden on my family, and feeling that everyone will be better off without my problems...Even though they're always telling me the opposite. It continues to get worse since I lost my leg, I have no freedom anymore since I can't drive myself anywhere, because I can't afford a vehicle for me to get into with my wheelchair by myself, so I must rely on others to even get to a doctor's appointment, or even a store...so I feel more helpless, trapped, and depressed... When I start sinking, my mind goes to a place where I'm unable to remember how they feel, and I only believe in the lies that my mind is telling me...💔😢🙏 I don't want to hurt my husband, or children, they're all very protective of me, are always checking in on me, they take all precautions, and make sure that I'm safe from myself. They will even try to discreetly look for burns/cuts, and if they do, they will never get mad at me, but gently talk with me in private, to try to find out what is wrong at that time, and my Boy's always remind to call them at anytime (day/night/@ work), to try to help me (Great Mama's Boy's)...and my Hubby does even more, and tries to lock up anything that I can seriously hurt myself on, takes time off work, and will stay up all night, talking, or watching me sleep. I'm very blessed to have such wonderful men in my life💙 (I'm truly blessed with my daughter, but she has mental disabilities, and will always have the mind of a child👼), I love my family, more than anything❣ 🥰💖 My husband is my biggest rock, I know I would have missed out on very special occasions with my kids, he's so gentle, and loving to me, takes it when I lose myself, and holds me tight when I cry, even with him not fully understanding what's going on inside of me, and he's the only person I can trust, when I'm feeling suicidal...I want to grow old with him, I just scare myself when I get so bad, and it doesn't matter if I'm going through therapy (I've tried it even under care). My husband is my biggest lifeline, second are my 2 son's. (Sorry for being so long) For anyone going through anything like this, please let others know, and help you...The pain we will leave in our wake, will be Horrific, and not something that you would want to go through yourselves...Confide In Someone, And Remember There's Always Help Somewhere❣✝️🤲🙏💪💝✌ THANK YOU, CHRIS STAPLETON, This Message Is So Important, Mental Health Is A Very Hard Disease To Fight...🙏❤✌

My husband and I have been 'rescuing' our 43 year old son since the day he turned two when things seemed to change. Got really bad when he was a teenager. Medication - that was suppose to keep him stable, and control the ups and downs, caused a bad reaction and I had one of his friends help me get him to the ER. I didn't like he won't take anything now. He says he prefers to "feel" rather than feel numb. But his ups are not consistent enough and the downs are not very good days, thankfully he is intelligent, lives on his own now, not being able to see him or hear from him for long periods of time does not make it easy for me to get a good nights sleep for YEARS!, and now, at my age of 72 I worry and struggle daily. I am on pins and needles waiting for that phone call or knock on the door. It's hard, very hard. I hope he will outlive us, but again not sure he will.

In addition to thanking Chris for this song, I want to thank the actors who put themselves in this dark place and poured their heart and soul into portraying these characters.

I love you Chris and Morgan. You both are exceptional people. I have to say that the only reason I'm still here is because I haven't had the nerve to end it yet. I've lived in my hell for alot of years. I keep hoping I find the strength to live in it a few more. Maybe if I can get through day by day I will. Anyway, God bless you all.

The first time I seen the fire away video I told a friend next to me. When an addict wants to die you can't really know how to help them. I found out that night my best friend of 20 years passed away due to a drug overdose. Two years later almost to the day my little sister passed away the same way. This song has a lot of power to make people feel like some one is telling there life story.

Many years ago I went through a terrible time in my life. I found myself with a loaded gun under my chin. I couldn't pull the trigger only because I didn't want my children growing up knowing their father was weak. So when I heard this song and watched this video a few years after my experience, needless to say it hit me hard. I'm so grateful now that I'm still here.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I lost my fiance to suicide almost 4 years ago and this video, I felt spoke directly to me. Every line. I felt like this is how I have taken my life after his death, fire away for I have felt the worst pain already. Thank you for allowing me to not feel so alone in this thought. Loved the video and the awareness to others. This maybe uneasy for some, but this does happen and there are those that have been through it. Thank you again.

I feel like it was, showing you can save a person... but saving them doesn't fix them. If you don't fix them you don't actually save them.

This is a masterpiece for suicide awareness! This is so dear to me but yet it just kills my soul. If you don’t have a mental health condition you will never understand!
